To capture broader market segments across various budget brackets, the model line-up expanded into distinct derivatives: the base X70 (targeted at daily commuting value) and the upscale X70 PLUS (aimed at premium family transport, sporting the brand's signature bold front grille and an integrated dual-screen cockpit). Genesis and Market Penetration (2018–2019): In August 2018, the Jetour X70 made its official debut as the pioneering model of the brand. With a sub-RM70,000 starting price and mid-size SUV dimensions, it quickly captured demand among families seeking maximum cabin space in lower-tier cities and suburban markets. The brand subsequently rolled out variants like the X70S and X70M in rapid succession, using a prolific multi-model approach to build strong market equity in a competitive segment.

The PLUS Era and Tech Upgrades (2020–2023): In 2020, Jetour launched the significantly revamped X70 PLUS, bringing noticeable enhancements in onboard tech and perceived quality. The new model featured a bold vertical-slat cascading grille, piano-key dual displays, and integrated Lion Cloud or Tencent infotainment ecosystems. Under the bonnet, the earlier 1.5T unit made way for Chery’s flagship 1.6TGDI engine, successfully moving the nameplate upmarket into the core RM100,000 to RM130,000 mainstream family SUV bracket. 

Latest Generation and Global Expansion (2024–2026): Entering its latest product cycle, the range underwent a comprehensive facelift and electrified transition. In May 2024, the X70 PLUS received a redesigned front fascia. Between 2025 and 2026, the 2026 Jetour X70 alongside the 2026 X70 PLUS / Champion Edition were fully rolled out. Beyond solidifying its entry pricing, the updated range introduced the fourth-generation Kunpeng 1.5TGDI engine paired with a 7DCT, officially entering global right-hand-drive (RHD) and left-hand-drive (LHD) markets across Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Southeast Asia, and beyond.

Dimensions and Practical Packaging: Taking the mainstream X70 PLUS as a benchmark, the SUV measures 4,749 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,720 mm in height (the standard model measures 4,720 mm long), underpinned by an expansive 2,745 mm wheelbase. The cabin incorporates up to 33 clever storage cubbies. In the 7-seater layout, the second-row seats feature 25°–41° recline adjustment, while folding the rear seats flat creates a massive, level cargo floor akin to a mobile bedroom. Suspension is handled by front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link independent setup across all variants. 

Chery ACTECO/Kunpeng Petrol Engines:

1.5T Turbocharged Engine: Entry-level and standard variants are predominantly equipped with a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine delivering 115 kW (156 PS) and 230 Nm of torque, paired with either a 6-speed manual (6MT) or a 6-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (6DCT). 

Fourth-Generation Kunpeng 1.5TGDI (Latest Unit): The updated 2026 X70 PLUS receives Chery’s fourth-generation Kunpeng 1.5TGDI direct-injection turbocharged engine, boosting output to 135 kW and 290 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (7DCT). This setup ensures effortless overtaking grunt at highway speeds while further improving overall fuel efficiency.

1.6TGDI Kunpeng High-Output Version: Higher-spec variants house a 1.6-litre turbocharged direct-injection unit producing 145 kW (197 PS) and 290 Nm of torque, mated to a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission. 

Eco-friendly & Smart Digital Cockpit: Range-topping models feature an integrated 10.25-inch dual-screen display, complemented by a dedicated 9-inch climate control touchscreen below. The cabin incorporates 118 eco-friendly interior materials (maintaining cabin odour ratings below Level 3.5) with CN95-certified cabin air filtration fitted as standard across the range.
