Its M5 Hurricane series has broken the production sedan top speed world record multiple times and was hailed by the German magazine "AUTO-BILD" as the "Flying Angels."

History

G-Power's history dates back to the early 1970s. In 1971, Jochen Grommisch founded the brand in a workshop at an ESSO gas station. In 1973, the company acquired Alpina's dealership rights in the Rhine/Main region, laying an early foundation in the BMW tuning sector. In 1979, G-Power expanded into aviation and engine accessories, providing assembly services for competitive vehicles. Since 1983, BMW modifications have become the company's core business.

In 1984, G-Power partnered with KONI to promote a comprehensive upgrade of the suspension systems for the BMW 02 and 3 Series. In 1995, Zoran Zorneke took over company operations and trademark rights. The headquarters moved to Brunsbüttel in 1997, the same year the first mechanical supercharging system was launched. In 2000, the G-Power-modified Z3 M4 fleet won the "Tuning Brand Gold Award" at the Nürburgring 24 Hours endurance race. In 2005, the company established its own manufacturing facility for carbon fiber aerodynamic components.

In 2007, the brand relocated to Bavaria and released the 404kW (approx. 550 horsepower) G-Power G3 CSL V10 Coupe. In 2012, the G1 V8 Hurricane RS, based on the 1 Series M Coupe, was launched. In 2014, the G4M Bi-TURBO, based on the BMW M4 F82, hit the market. Subsequently, G-Power gradually expanded its business to include Mercedes-AMG models, launching the X6M TYPHOON wide-body version (551kW) in 2018. In 2020, the G5M HURRICANE RR, based on the M5 F90, reached peak performance levels of 662kW (approx. 900 horsepower) and 1050 Nm.

Product Portfolio

G-Power's modification product line covers all BMW models and luxury brands such as Mercedes-AMG and Lamborghini. The main modification kit series include:

Hurricane Series: The brand's flagship performance series, with each generation aiming to set top speed records. The E60 M5 Hurricane RR is equipped with the ASA T1-316 dual-supercharging system, outputting 819 horsepower. The F90 M5 Hurricane RR kit is precisely engineered based on the original factory turbochargers, combined with exclusive ECU programming and high-flow exhaust systems, achieving a maximum output of 900 horsepower and 1050 Nm, with a top speed of up to 340 km/h.

GP-700/GP-800 Series: High-performance kits launched for the BMW M2 and other models. The GP-700 kit includes exclusive ECU tuning, an upgraded turbo system, and enhanced exhaust configuration, outputting 700 horsepower and 850 Nm. The GP-800 kit pushes power further to 800 horsepower and 900 Nm.

Cross-brand modification solutions: G-Power has expanded its business to brands such as Mercedes-AMG and Lamborghini. The upgrade solution developed for the AMG GT boosts the 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine from 462 horsepower to 610 horsepower. For the Lamborghini Urus, G-Power provides three-stage ECU upgrades, ultimately reaching 830 horsepower.

Suspension and Aerodynamic Kits: G-Power pairs KW adjustable suspension systems, forged wheels, and carbon fiber body components with various modified models. It also provides exclusive stainless steel or titanium alloy exhaust systems and high-performance braking solutions.

Market Performance

G-Power is an ultra-niche, high-end custom modification brand that does not disclose revenue figures for complete vehicles or modification kits. As a provider of purely handcrafted custom modifications, the brand’s products are defined by their scarcity and high degree of personalization. Top-tier kits, such as the Hurricane RR, are developed in limited quantities for specific models. Each vehicle is customized individually according to customer requirements, with final pricing determined on a case-by-case basis depending on the depth of modification. The brand has long maintained a prominent presence at global top-tier tuning exhibitions and performance car launches, sustaining its benchmark status in the high-performance tuning market through its international influence.

Technology and Innovation

Bi-Tronik Module: G-Power has independently developed multiple generations of Bi-Tronik ECU tuning modules. By precisely recalibrating core parameters such as fuel injection, ignition timing, and boost pressure within the engine control unit, these modules unlock power potential without requiring hardware changes. For instance, the GP-620 solution for the M3 CS achieves an output of 620 horsepower solely through ECU programming and exhaust upgrades.

Turbo/Supercharging System Precision Engineering: G-Power specializes in CNC precision machining of original factory turbochargers. This process involves enlarging the internal diameter of the intake and exhaust turbines and installing larger blades to increase airflow and boost pressure, all while retaining the original compact size to minimize turbo lag. For naturally aspirated engines, the brand utilizes the ASA T1-316 dual-supercharging system to achieve significant power gains.

High-Performance Exhaust and Cooling Systems: G-Power equips vehicles with enlarged-diameter headers, high-flow catalytic converters (such as 200-cell units), and stainless steel or titanium alloy mid-to-rear exhaust systems. Additionally, reinforced cooling components, including water-cooled intercoolers, ensure thermal stability even after substantial power upgrades.

Suspension and Chassis Reinforcement: G-Power extensively uses KW coilover adjustable shock absorbers (such as the KW Variant 4) to lower the vehicle’s center of gravity and allow for damping adjustments. These are paired with 20/21-inch forged wheels and high-performance tires to ensure that chassis handling keeps pace with power upgrades.

Carbon Fiber Lightweight Technology: With its own carbon fiber manufacturing facility, G-Power provides lightweight exterior components such as engine hoods, front splitters, and rear wings. These components reduce vehicle weight while enhancing aerodynamic performance.

Global Presence

G-Power’s global business primarily relies on project exports and international custom orders, maintaining its international influence through participation in top-tier global tuning and performance car exhibitions, such as the Essen Tuning Show and the Geneva Motor Show. The brand participated in the Shanghai Tuning Show in 2008, gaining early visibility in the Chinese market. In ultra-luxury automotive hubs like the Middle East, G-Power serves high-end customers through partner channels. Currently, the brand has not officially entered the Chinese market with an authorized dealer network; instead, its overseas business reaches global customers mainly through customized modification projects.

Future Strategy

As we enter the mid-2020s, G-Power remains committed to its core business of internal combustion engine performance modification, even as the industry undergoes a significant shift toward electrification. As of 2026, the brand has not yet released modification plans for pure electric vehicles; however, its product line has expanded to include more brands such as Mercedes-AMG and Lamborghini, reflecting a clear trend toward business diversification. Looking ahead, as BMW and other mainstream luxury brands fully transition to electrification, G-Power’s primary challenge will be translating its expertise in engine ECU tuning and mechanical supercharging into the realms of power electronics optimization and thermal management for electric drive systems. If the brand can successfully evolve into a high-performance electric vehicle customization specialist, its half-century of engineering reputation will provide unique brand value in the new energy sector.
