Ferrari 12Cilindri

2026-10-08 11:10:00

The Ferrari 12Cilindri is a front-engined V12 super GT sports car that celebrated its global debut in Miami, USA, on 2 May 2024 by Italian supercar marque Ferrari, serving as the official successor to the 812 Superfast. The moniker "12Cilindri" translates directly to "12 Cylinders" in Italian, paying direct homage to Ferrari's naturally aspirated V12 heritage since the brand's inception in 1947. On 6 June 2024, the 12Cilindri made its official debut in China with pricing announced. The new model is offered in two body styles: Coupe and Spider, with official retail prices tagged at RM5,988,000 and RM6,586,800 respectively. Positioned as a flagship front-engined V12 grand tourer, the 12Cilindri rivals benchmark supercars such as the Lamborghini Revuelto (priced at RM6,295,000).

Design Language

Penned by the Ferrari Styling Centre under the direction of Flavio Manzoni, the 12Cilindri departs radically from the intricate design lines of the 812 series. It embraces quintessential GT proportions with a long bonnet and a short tail, resulting in a cleaner, sleeker overall silhouette. Styling cues draw inspiration from classic Prancing Horse grand tourers of the 1950s and 1960s, paying distinct homage to the legendary 365 GTB/4 Daytona. Signature elements include a full-width gloss black band across the nose between the headlamps, blade-style daytime running lights (DRLs), and sharp character lines along the flanks. Round the back, active aerodynamic flaps operate between 60 km/h and 300 km/h to modulate downforce, complemented by a substantial rear diffuser and dual central exhaust exits. In terms of dimensions, the car measures 4,733 mm in length, 2,176 mm in width, and 1,292 mm in height, riding on a 2,700 mm wheelbase. The Coupe registers a dry weight of 1,560 kg, while the Spider comes in at 1,620 kg.

Powertrain & Performance

Powering the 12Cilindri is the F140HD 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 powerplant. This engine represents the latest evolution of Ferrari's celebrated F140 V12 family, tracing its lineage back to the Enzo. The rev limit has been raised to an intoxicating 9,500 rpm, delivering a maximum output of 830 cv (approx. 819 hp) at 9,250 rpm and peak torque of 678 Nm at 7,250 rpm. Impressively, 80% of peak torque is available from just 2,500 rpm. The powertrain stays true to pure natural aspiration without any turbocharging or hybrid assistance. Power is channelled through an 8-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT)—a first for a Ferrari V12 two-seater—delivering 30% faster shifts than the gearbox in the 812 Superfast. The drivetrain features a front-mid engine, rear-wheel-drive layout. Performance-wise, the Coupe sprints from 0-100 km/h in just 2.9 seconds, achieves 0-200 km/h in 7.9 seconds, and hits a top speed of 340 km/h; the Spider completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in 2.95 seconds.

Chassis & Handling

The 12Cilindri is built on an all-aluminium chassis. Compared to the 812 Superfast, the wheelbase has been shortened by 20 mm; cast components such as the shock towers, A-pillars, and C-pillars feature re-engineered geometry, boosting torsional rigidity by 15%. Suspension hardware comprises a double-wishbone setup at the front and a multi-link arrangement at the rear. The vehicle also features independent four-wheel steering (4WS), a technology first seen on the 812 Competizione, allowing individual steering angle management for each wheel. A near-perfect 47.8:52.2 front-to-rear weight distribution further enhances handling dynamics. Braking is governed by a state-of-the-art brake-by-wire system paired with an ABS Evo controller, reducing stopping distances while offering precise pedal feel. A 6D six-way chassis sensor works in unison with Side Slip Control (SSC) 8.0 to monitor grip thresholds in real time and harmonise chassis systems. It rides on 21-inch wheels fitted with bespoke Michelin or Goodyear tyres.

Cabin & Equipment

The interior adopts Ferrari's latest dual-cockpit architecture, sharing design DNA with models such as the Roma and Purosangue. The human-machine interface (HMI) centres on a triple-screen layout: a 15.6-inch full digital instrument cluster, a 10.25-inch central touchscreen, and an optional 8.8-inch passenger display. The infotainment system comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. A wireless smartphone charging pad is standard on the centre console. Audio is handled by a 15-speaker, 1,600 W sound system co-developed with Burmester. The three-spoke multi-function steering wheel features capacitive touch controls and the signature Manettino dial for seamless drive mode adjustments. Buyers can also specify the seats and door upholstery in either an elegant or sport-oriented theme.

Safety & Advanced Driver Assistance Systems

On the safety front, the 12Cilindri is comprehensively equipped with ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist, Traction Control System, Hill Start Assist, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Passive safety includes 4 airbags, covering dual front and dual front side airbags. Seatbelts are fitted with pre-tensioners and load limiters. The active safety suite features Autonomous Emergency Braking (with pedestrian detection), Blind Spot Monitoring, a 360-degree surround view camera, and Driver Attention Alert. Automatic high-beam assist is standard. Furthermore, the car is equipped with an eCall emergency call system that automatically connects to emergency services in the event of an accident.

Market Performance & Evaluation

Following its global premiere in May 2024, the 12Cilindri made its official debut in China in June of the same year. The Coupe is priced at RM5,988,000 with deliveries scheduled for the second half of 2025, while the Spider is tagged at RM6,586,800 with deliveries set for early 2026. As the successor to the Ferrari 812 Superfast, the 12Cilindri champions the naturally aspirated V12 amid widespread electrification, embodying the ultimate tribute to the Prancing Horse's pure ICE multi-cylinder flagships. In 2024, Ferrari delivered 13,752 cars globally, with pure ICE models accounting for 49% and hybrid models making up 51%. In China, the ultra-luxury segment continues to experience broad market pressure. As the modern swansong of Ferrari's front-engined V12 grand tourers, the 12Cilindri sets an irreplaceable technical and emotional benchmark in the hyper-GT sphere through its 830 cv naturally aspirated powerplant, race-bred chassis technology, and striking retro-inspired design.
