Model Overview

The Chery Tiggo Cross (marketed overseas as the Chery Tiggo Cross and also referred to in China as the Chery Tiggo 4) is a compact crossover SUV developed by Chery for global markets. Rather than an independent model line in China, it is an export-exclusive model developed based on the domestic Tiggo 5x. Serving as the overseas facelifted iteration of the Tiggo 5x, the Tiggo Cross is also badged under nameplates such as the "Tiggo 4 Pro" in several markets.
The Tiggo Cross began rolling out across global markets in the second half of 2024: official images were released in South Africa in October 2024, followed by its Indonesian debut in February 2025, an official launch in Malaysia in July 2025, and progressive entries into other Southeast Asian and African markets such as Thailand. The Tiggo Cross is currently not sold in mainland China. It is built in a five-door, five-seater SUV body style.
Pricing varies substantially depending on the market: in Malaysia, the 1.5T petrol variant is priced at RM88,800 (approx. RM150,000), while the 1.5 Hybrid variant retails at RM99,800 (approx. RM169,200); in Indonesia, prices start from around IDR 239,500,000 (approx. RM110,000).
Design Language
In terms of exterior styling, the Tiggo Cross adopts Chery's latest family design language, closely mirroring newer models like China's Tiggo 8 Plus. Up front, it features a bold polygonal grille with a diamond-matrix chrome insert; slim, elongated LED headlamps sit above, while chunky black trim pieces guide the eye to vertical bumper corner air ducts, combining with a trapezoidal lower intake to deliver a sleek, tech-inspired aesthetic.
The side profile retains the signature lines and silhouette of the Tiggo 5x. The rear represents the key highlight of the facelift—sporting full-width LED tail lights with an intricate, braided-effect internal signature that elevates both tech appeal and recognition. A tailgate spoiler and vertical rear bumper vents further accentuate its sporty attitude.
Dimension-wise, the vehicle measures 4,320–4,350 mm long, 1,830–1,831 mm wide, and 1,652–1,670 mm tall, with a wheelbase spanning 2,610–2,630 mm. These proportions make it slightly larger than rivals like the Perodua Ativa, placing it firmly in the B-segment SUV category.
Inside, the Tiggo Cross features Chery's latest corporate cockpit architecture. The dashboard is dominated by a dual 10.25-inch display setup (digital instrument cluster + infotainment touchscreen), although the meter cluster uses a semi-digital layout to keep manufacturing costs competitive. The centre console is fitted with a touch-sensitive climate control panel and an electronic gear shifter. The seats are wrapped in perforated upholstery accented with bespoke embossing and contrast white piping. Both variants come standard with full-LED headlights and tail lights, aluminium roof rails, leather seats (powered driver's seat), dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air-con vents, and a 15W Qi wireless smartphone charger.
Powertrain & Performance
The Tiggo Cross is offered with several powertrain configurations across regional markets:

1.5T Turbocharged Engine (Malaysia, South Africa, etc.): Produces 147 PS (108 kW) and 210 Nm of torque. Mated to either a six-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) or a CVT. Completes the 0–100 km/h sprint in 10.3 seconds, with an official combined fuel consumption of 6.3 L/100 km.
1.5 Hybrid CSH Full Hybrid (Malaysia, etc.): Combines a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine (102 PS / 125 Nm) with an electric drive motor (204 PS / 310 Nm), generating a total system output of 190 PS and combined torque of 370 Nm. Paired with a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT). It does 0–100 km/h in 8.9 seconds, returning a combined fuel consumption of 5.4 L/100 km.
1.6T Turbocharged Engine (Thailand): Delivers a maximum output of 190 PS.
All variants feature a front-wheel-drive (FWD) configuration.
Chassis & Handling
Underneath, the Tiggo Cross is underpinned by MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam setup at the rear. This chassis layout is standard fare among entry-level B-segment SUVs, balancing cost control with daily ride comfort. Steering is managed by an Electric Power Steering (EPS) system. Braking is handled by front ventilated discs and rear solid discs. Wheel packages include 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels on petrol variants and 17-inch alloy wheels on the hybrid model. Fuel tank capacity stands at 51 litres.
Cabin & Features
On the smart tech front, the Tiggo Cross comes standard across the range with a dual 10.25-inch screen setup, featuring intelligent voice control alongside smartphone integration with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Higher-spec variants add a 360-degree surround-view camera system.
Standard comfort amenities across the range include leather upholstery (powered driver's seat), dual-zone automatic climate control, rear air-con vents, front and rear centre armrests, and a 15W wireless charging pad.
Safety & Intelligent Driving
In terms of safety, the Tiggo Cross is equipped with a comprehensive suite of active and passive systems. For passive protection, six airbags (dual front, front side, and full-length side curtain airbags) come standard across all variants.
Active safety and driver assistance are governed by up to 15 ADAS functions. The petrol model includes Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and a surround-view camera system as standard. The hybrid variant adds All-Speed Adaptive Cruise Control and Rear Autonomous Emergency Braking, offering full Level 2 semi-autonomous driving capability. The vehicle also comes equipped with systems like Lane Keep Assist (LKA) .
Market Performance & Review
The Tiggo Cross forms an integral component of Chery's global expansion strategy. Chery Group exported over 1,000,000 vehicles overseas in 2024, with footprints spanning over 110 countries and territories. As a crucial volume driver for Chery in emerging markets across Southeast Asia and Africa, the Tiggo Cross leverages a strategy offering B-segment sizing at an A-segment price point, giving it an undeniable competitive edge.
In the Malaysian market, the Tiggo Cross goes head-to-head against key rivals such as the Perodua Ativa and the Honda WR-V. Malaysian units come with a seven-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty and seven years of complimentary roadside towing, while hybrid variants receive an eight-year/160,000 km warranty on high-voltage battery and electric drive components. In Indonesia, Chery backs the crossover with a six-year vehicle warranty and an engine warranty covering up to 1,000,000 km.
Overall, as the overseas facelift of the Tiggo 5x, the Chery Tiggo Cross establishes a distinctive presence in emerging-market compact crossover segments thanks to its updated family face, diverse powertrain portfolio, well-rounded ADAS package, and aggressive pricing, demonstrating Chery's solid product deployment and competitive momentum on the international stage.
