2026-10-04 13:10:00

Model Overview

The Chery QQ Domi is an all-new fully electric micro car launched by Chery New Energy on 10 June 2025. The new model is offered in two variants, namely the "305km Comfortable Edition" and "405km Comfortable Edition", priced officially at RM59,900 and RM69,900 respectively. Built upon the Kaiyi Shiyue Mate platform, the EV is targeted at young urban parents and families, featuring a practical 5-door, 5-seater layout as its key selling point, aiming to carve out a distinct "pragmatic" niche in the micro EV segment. As the latest member of the Chery QQ family, the Domi fills the market gap beyond 3-door, 4-seater models such as the QQ Ice Cream and Little Ant.

Design Language

The QQ Domi carries forward the classic "cute and bubbly" design language of the Chery QQ family, featuring a rounded, full-bodied profile. Up front, it sports a closed-off grille flanked by sharp triangular headlamp clusters, bridged in the centre by a gloss black garnish panel. The lower bumper houses a trapezoidal honeycomb air intake that enhances visual substance at the front. In profile, it gets a floating roof design, flush pop-out door handles, and a crisp shoulder line. The rear echoes the front styling with matching triangular tail lamps. Four exterior colours are offered: Ruixue White, Qingkong Blue, Liuxing Silver, and Yanzhi Pink, alongside two interior colour schemes: Black/Grey two-tone (Ink Mountains and Rivers) and Pink two-tone (Peach Blossom).

Power and Performance

The entire QQ Domi line-up is powered by a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous single electric motor, delivering a maximum output of 40 kW (around 54 hp / 54 PS) and a peak torque of 110 Nm. The official top speed is rated at 100 km/h. Battery duties are handled by lithium iron phosphate (LFP) packs supplied by Gotion High-tech. The 305km version is fitted with a 28.5 kWh battery, while the 405km version gets a larger 39.33 kWh capacity. With DC fast charging, juicing from 30% to 80% state of charge takes just 30 minutes. The range-topping 405km variant also features Vehicle-to-Load (VTOL) mobile power supply capability, supporting reverse power discharge to run external electrical appliances.

Chassis and Handling

Under the skin, the QQ Domi rides on a suspension setup consisting of front MacPherson struts and a rear torsion beam. It operates on a front-wheel drive (FWD) layout. Unladen ground clearance is rated at 160 mm, which, when paired with 15-inch wheels and tyres, delivers better obstacle clearance than conventional micro city cars. Steering is handled via an electric power steering (EPS) system.

Cabin and Equipment

Inside the cabin, the QQ Domi is equipped with a 7-inch full digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch floating central touchscreen infotainment display. The system comes integrated with AutoNavi navigation and supports 4G connectivity, smart voice commands, and remote vehicle control via a smartphone app. Gear shifting uses an electronic column-mounted stalk shifter, freeing up storage space along the centre console. The seats are upholstered in faux leather, with the rear bench featuring a 60:40 split-folding design. Boot capacity stands at 218 litres to 237 litres in standard form, expanding up to 730 litres when the rear seats are folded down. Keyless entry with push-button start, a reverse camera, rear parking sensors, and selectable drive modes come standard across the range. The top-spec 405km model can also be optioned with a panoramic sunroof.

Safety and Intelligent Driving

In terms of safety, the QQ Domi is fitted with dual front SRS airbags for the driver and front passenger. The body utilizes a high-strength steel cage safety structure, with high-strength steel accounting for 65% of the frame. Active safety kit includes a reverse camera, rear parking sensors, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). On the driver assistance front, the vehicle does not feature advanced driver assist systems (ADAS), rated at Level 0 driving assistance.

Market Performance and Evaluation

Since its market introduction, the QQ Domi has established a differentiated foothold in the RM50,000 to RM70,000 micro EV segment thanks to its practical 5-door, 5-seater layout and an impressive electric range of up to 405 km. However, its close resemblance to the Kaiyi Shiyue Mate has sparked some debate, with certain automotive media labelling it a badge-engineered rebadge. Furthermore, offering only dual airbags in the 2025 automotive landscape is viewed as a notable shortcoming in safety specifications. Primary rivals include the Wuling Hongguang MINIEV 4-door version and Leapmotor T03. Serving as Chery QQ's latest exploration in functional urban mobility, the QQ Domi presents city commuters with a compelling daily runabout option through its combination of generous cabin space, long driving range, and accessible pricing.
