Model Overview

The Chery Shuxiangjia is a fully electric mid-size SUV under the Chery New Energy brand. Officially launched on 12 September 2023, the model was initially designated as the Chery eQ7 before being renamed "Shuxiangjia" at its market debut. In August 2024, the 2025 annual facelift model went on sale, streamlining the range into two variants: the "Ziyou Edition" and the "Changyou Edition". The 2025 model carries official recommended retail prices of RM159,900 and RM164,900. Built on China's first lightweight aluminium-based platform, the Shuxiangjia is tailored for family buyers, competing directly against segment rivals such as the Deepal S7, Leapmotor C11, and Galaxy L7.
Design Language
The Shuxiangjia adopts the brand's "Digital Superbody" design philosophy. Up front, it features a closed-off grille paired with a split headlamp arrangement, featuring slim upper LED daytime running lights (DRLs) and lower high/low beams integrated into the front air duct recesses on both flanks. The side profile exhibits sharp, flowing character lines complemented by a dual-tone paint scheme, with a blackened roof creating a floating roof effect. Conventional door handles are retained rather than flush pop-out units. At the rear, the SUV gets full-width LED tail lamps, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a prominent black rear diffuser. Dimension-wise, the vehicle measures 4,675 mm in length, 1,910 mm in width, and 1,660 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,830 mm. Three exterior colour options are offered: Haoyue White, Fuxiao Grey, and Qingkong Blue. Inside, the cabin features a wraparound layout, equipped with a three-spoke flat-bottom steering wheel and a steering column-mounted electronic gear selector. The Ziyou Edition is finished in a black-and-beige colourway, while the Changyou Edition comes in a black-and-brown theme.
Powertrain and Performance
The entire Shuxiangjia range is driven by a rear-mounted single permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. For the 2025 model, the motor delivers a maximum power output of 155 kW (approx. 211 PS) and a peak torque of 285 Nm. The official 0-100 km/h acceleration time is clocked at 8 seconds, with a top speed of 180 km/h. In terms of range, it is powered by a 67.12 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack with cells supplied by Ningfu New Energy, providing a CLTC pure electric driving range of 512 km. For charging, DC fast charging from 30% to 80% state of charge (SoC) takes around 30 minutes, while AC slow charging takes approximately 8 hours. The vehicle also comes equipped with an intelligent battery thermal management system and vehicle-to-load (V2L) external power output capabilities.
Chassis and Handling
Under the skin, the Shuxiangjia sits on an independent suspension system consisting of front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link setup. It adopts a rear-motor, rear-wheel drive (RWD) layout—a configuration typically associated with premium vehicles and relatively uncommon in this segment. Stopping power is provided by front ventilated disc brakes and rear solid disc brakes, paired with an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB). It rides on 225/60 R18 tyres. With a minimum ground clearance of 166 mm, it delivers decent all-round road clearance. Drivers can select from 4 driving modes, 3 steering modes, and 2 braking response modes.
Cabin and Features
In the smart cockpit, the Shuxiangjia comes fitted with a dual-screen setup comprising a 12.3-inch full digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central infotainment display. The infotainment system supports automotive-grade in-car WeChat, 4G connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot, Gaode and Tencent navigation, as well as over-the-air (OTA) updates. The centre console area is also equipped with a 50W wireless smartphone fast-charging pad. In terms of comfort amenities, leatherette upholstery and an electrically adjustable driver's seat with heating and ventilation are standard across the range. The front passenger seat features an 8-point massage function, an electric ottoman leg rest, and "boss buttons" for rear passengers, delivering a dedicated "Queen Co-pilot" experience. The rear seats also feature heating functionality. For audio, the Ziyou Edition is equipped with a 4-speaker setup, while the Changyou Edition is upgraded to an 8-speaker sound system. In terms of storage practicality, it provides a 40-litre front boot (frunk), alongside a rear boot capacity of 432 litres, expandable to 1,296 litres with the rear seats folded down. The cabin offers a total of 27 storage compartments throughout.
Safety and Driver Assistance
Safety-wise, the Shuxiangjia features an integrated all-aluminium body structure built on an aluminium-based lightweight platform, cutting the body frame weight by 30% and reducing energy consumption by 5% at the same battery capacity. For passive safety, the Ziyou Edition comes standard with front dual airbags and front side airbags, while the Changyou Edition adds full-length front and rear side curtain airbags. Battery protection meets the highest IPX9K waterproof rating. In terms of intelligent driving, the 2025 Shuxiangjia is equipped with a Level 2+ Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). The Ziyou Edition comes standard with rear parking sensors, a reverse camera, and cruise control; on top of these, the Changyou Edition adds Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Assist, Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), front parking sensors, and a 540° panoramic parking camera system with transparent chassis view.
Market Performance and Verdict
The Shuxiangjia represents a crucial entry for Chery New Energy in the fully electric mid-size SUV market. At its initial 2023 debut, it offered two range choices of 412 km and 512 km across 6 variant trims, priced from RM129,900 to RM169,900. The 2025 iteration has since been streamlined into two 512 km range variants with slight upward price adjustments. The all-aluminium body construction serves as the Shuxiangjia's core competitive differentiator in its class. However, industry feedback points out that the model maintains a relatively low market presence and road visibility; its powertrain output and range figures remain middle-of-the-road, facing intense rivalry in an increasingly competitive EV landscape. Overall, leveraging its key highlights—an all-aluminium chassis, a class-leading 2,830 mm wheelbase, an RWD layout, and Level 2+ ADAS capability—the Shuxiangjia successfully establishes a distinctive foothold in the RM150,000-class pure electric SUV segment.
