Stelato G9 receives over 15,000 orders in 72 hours, priced from RMB 439,800

HIMA has opened pre-orders for its first luxury off-road SUV, the Stelato G9, in China, with more than 15,000 orders placed within the first 72 hours.

Priced from RMB 439,800, the G9 is packed with Huawei-developed tech, including the Tuling intelligent chassis, an 800V active disconnecting anti-roll bar and an adaptive differential-lock electric drive system.

It also comes with some rather unusual kit for an SUV, including an integrated electric roof tent and an optional tailgate kitchen, giving the G9 a clear focus on both off-road driving and outdoor adventures.

The Stelato G9 goes for a classic boxy SUV shape, with a design that follows the brand's Universe Aesthetics. Up front, it gets split headlights with a full-width LED light bar, along with Huawei's Star Ring headlights and DLP Full-Color Projection Headlight.

A chunky front bumper gives the G9 a rugged look, which suits its off-road character.

The G9 has a boxy side profile with plenty of sharp lines, paired with multi-spoke alloy wheels. Semi-flush door handles keep the look tidy and help with aerodynamics.

It measures 5,206 (5377) mm long, 2,050 mm wide and 1,897 mm tall, with a 3,160 mm wheelbase.

At the rear, the G9 gets vertical tail lights linked by a silver trim strip, while the rear bumper also features a chunky silver accent that ties in with the front-end design.

The roof-mounted electric tent can be raised and lowered at the push of a button from inside the cabin to create a two-level sleeping space. Buyers can also opt for a tailgate kitchen, which should come in handy for camping trips and outdoor meals.

The G9 has 202 mm of ground clearance as standard, which can be raised to 282 mm when needed. It also offers a 23-degree approach angle and 26-degree departure angle, giving it plenty of clearance for rough terrain.

An adjustable air suspension allows the ride height to be raised by up to 80 mm or lowered by 50 mm. This gives the G9 more room to tackle rocky trails and narrow, uneven roads while reducing the risk of scraping the body underneath.

Other practical features include LC switchable glass, a roof rack, an electric tow hitch and electric side steps. Buyers can also choose from several wheel designs. A crawl mode helps make tricky off-road sections easier to handle.

The G9 is equipped with Huawei's latest-generation LiDAR and comes with HUAWEI ADS 5.0 as standard. It is also the first production model to feature a circular ADS indicator light, integrated into the Star Ring lighting design.

Inside, the G9 gets a new cabin layout with a three-screen setup across the dashboard, along with an AR-HUD. Physical buttons are also retained, with controls placed on the roof, dashboard and centre armrest for functions such as vehicle controls and chassis settings.

For added convenience, the vehicle features an electronic column-mounted gear selector and standard wireless phone charging. The seating is available in five-seat or six-seat configurations.

Powering the G9 is an 800V high-voltage platform and an all-wheel-drive system, with Huawei's latest in-house-developed electric motor making its debut here.

The range-extender version comes with 56 kWh or 75.4 kWh batteries, offering up to 400 km of CLTC electric range and a combined range of more than 1,300 km.

The pure-electric version gets a 120 kWh battery and more than 728 km of CLTC range.
