Leapmotor B03X launched in Hong Kong at HK$189,900

Leapmotor has launched the new B03X in Hong Kong, with an early-bird price of HK$189,900. The offer will be available until the end of this year.

The B03X name may be new to Hong Kong, but the car itself is not. It is the export version of the Leapmotor A10, which has already been on sale in China's mainland. The A10 was also shown at the International Automotive Expo (Hong Kong) in June.

The B03X has a fairly upright, boxy shape, with split headlights and tail-lights that are less common among Leapmotor models. Leapmotor describes the design as its smile-face aesthetic, with the smile-face tail-lights giving the rear a distinctive look.

The B03X measures 4,270 mm long, 1,810 mm wide and 1,635 mm tall, with a 2,605 mm wheelbase.

Inside, the B03X follows the clean, minimalist layout now common in modern EVs, with a large central touchscreen taking most of the attention.

As an entry-level model, its equipment is fairly straightforward. Standard features include a 14.6-inch touchscreen, wireless charging and a power-adjustable driver's seat. The front seats are heated, although ventilation is not available.

Storage space is one of the B03X's stronger points. The boot offers 407 litres with the rear seats up and expands to 927 litres when they are folded down. There is also a 106-litre washable, waterproof storage compartment underneath the boot floor.

The rear seat cushions can also be lifted up, in a similar fashion to the Honda Jazz, making it easier to carry long or narrow items.

The B03X gets a more powerful motor than the A10. Its front-mounted single motor produces 145 kW and 200 Nm, compared with 95 kW for the A10.

Power comes from a 53 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, giving the B03X a claimed WLTP range of 382 km.

DC fast charging is supported at up to 133 kW, with a claimed 30–80% charging time of just 16 minutes.
