Kia Global Sales Surpass 291,000 Units in October! Up 10.3% YoY with Strong Surge in Korean Domestic Market!

[BitAuto News] Kia has announced its global sales results for October 2026, marking its eighth consecutive month of year-on-year growth. Notably, domestic sales in South Korea reached 51,007 units, surging by 27.5% YoY, whilst overseas markets registered 239,308 units, up 7.2% YoY. The SUV line-up continued to spearhead the marque’s deliveries, with the Sportage leading the global charts at 56,811 units, trailed by the Seltos at 38,368 units and the Sorento at 20,021 units. This underscores how Kia's SUV range remains the core growth driver across international markets.

October Global Sales Post Solid Gains! Korean Domestic Market Records Strongest Growth

According to Kia's official figures, the brand recorded total global sales of 291,219 units in October 2026, an increase of 27,202 units compared to 264,017 units over the same period in 2025, translating to a 10.3% YoY climb. Month-on-month, October deliveries also rose by 3.1% compared to September 2026’s 282,575 units.

By region, the South Korean domestic market accounted for 51,007 units in October, jumping 27.5% YoY—an increase of 11,006 units over the prior year. Overseas markets delivered 239,308 units, up 7.2% YoY, continuing to make up the lion's share of global volume.

Furthermore, Kia’s Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV) achieved 904 units in October, up 12.9% YoY. Encompassing purpose-built vehicles across various sectors, this segment demonstrates steady expansion beyond traditional passenger cars.

Significantly, Kia has now sustained global YoY sales growth for eight consecutive months, reflecting that the brand’s regional product deployments and marketing strategies are consistently bearing fruit.

Sportage Retains Top Spot! Seltos and Sorento Follow in Close Pursuit

In terms of individual model performance, SUVs remain the bedrock of Kia’s global deliveries. The Sportage topped the charts as the brand’s global bestseller in October, registering 56,811 units.

The Seltos took second place with 38,368 units,

whilst the Sorento came in third with 20,021 units.

In overseas markets alone, the Sportage retained its lead with 49,103 units, followed by the Seltos at 33,552 units. Meanwhile, the K4 saloon also delivered a commendable 18,720 units overseas, establishing itself as a vital non-SUV sales contributor for the brand.

Back in its home market of South Korea, the Sportage also led the pack with 7,708 units, while the Sorento and Carnival posted 6,784 and 5,570 units respectively.

These figures clearly highlight that SUVs such as the Sportage and Seltos maintain exceptional appeal overseas, whilst the Sorento and Carnival continue to anchor the marque's domestic market presence in South Korea.

Beyond October's standalone performance, Kia's year-to-date sales have also sustained steady momentum. As of late October 2026, cumulative global wholesale volume reached 2,769,954 units, representing a 5.1% rise against the 2,636,690 units logged during the same period in 2025.

Within this, South Korean domestic cumulative deliveries totalled 487,308 units, up 7.4% YoY; overseas volume reached 2,276,335 units, up 4.5% YoY. SPV cumulative deliveries also advanced to 6,311 units, up 43.5% YoY. This confirms that Kia not only secured double-digit YoY expansion in October, but has also maintained a resilient upward trajectory across the first 10 months of the year.

Sharpening Focus on Electrified Models in Q4

Looking ahead to Q4 2026, Kia will push forward with its electrified line-up tailored to diverse market requirements, focusing on hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) in the US and expanding its battery electric vehicle (BEV) footprint across Europe. In Q3, Kia’s global retail deliveries of electrified models leapt 47% YoY to around 300,000 units, making up 36.2% of its total retail volume. Among these, hybrids and pure electric vehicles grew by 46% and 75.4% respectively, demonstrating that electrified vehicles are increasingly becoming a pivotal growth engine for the brand.
