Porsche's Next-Gen PCCM Plus Arrives: 2009–2016 911/Boxster/Cayman Classics Now Upgradeable with Wireless CarPlay & Android Auto

[BitAuto News] Porsche recently (29 September) announced the expansion of its PCCM Plus (Porsche Classic Communication Management Plus) infotainment upgrade system. The new-generation unit now covers 2009 to 2016 model-year 911, Cayman, and Boxster ranges, benefitting over 300,000 "future classics" worldwide.

PCCM Plus has long been one of Porsche's most popular factory retrofit options. Combining modern infotainment and satellite navigation while staying true to the brand's iconic design language, the unit blends seamlessly into the classic cabin architecture.

The latest-generation PCCM Plus features a 7-inch high-resolution touchscreen and supports multifunction steering wheel controls (where factory-fitted). Fully integrated into the vehicle's onboard electronics, it displays navigation cues and media tracks directly in the instrument cluster while preserving individual vehicle settings. The biggest highlight is the seamless integration of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto via wireless Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. Furthermore, the system supports YouTube video playback when stationary (subject to local market regulations) and allows drivers to match the on-screen virtual car with authentic Porsche exterior paint colours, ensuring complete visual and technical synergy.

Other practical features include: map-integrated speed limit displays, real-time engine oil temperature and oil pressure readings on the trip screen, newly added visual ParkAssist distance graphics for Boxster and Cayman models, satellite imagery navigation, and a "Scenic Roads" routing function that automatically picks twisty, scenic mountain passes for added driving enjoyment.

On the connectivity front, the system is equipped with dual tuners supporting DAB, HD Radio, FM, and AM. Bluetooth streaming supports full track metadata (artist, title, etc.), alongside an integrated nano-SIM card slot for 4G connectivity. Map updates can also be completed conveniently via Over-the-Air (OTA) without requiring a trip to the workshop.

Two Dedicated Versions for Broad Model Coverage

The new PCCM Plus is offered in two model-tailored variants, available through Porsche Centres globally:

Variant 1: For 2012–2016 911 (991.1 generation) and Boxster/Cayman (981 generation)

Variant 2: For 2009–2013 911 (997.2 generation) and Boxster/Cayman (987.2 generation)

Porsche recommends professional installation at an official Porsche Centre. Feature availability varies depending on the specific model and trim level, and selected online services require an active internet connection.
