2027 Subaru WRX and BRZ special editions to debut on 27 September at Boxerfest 2026

Subaru of America has announced plans for limited-run versions of the 2027 WRX and BRZ, with both models set to make their global debut at Boxerfest 2026 in York, Pennsylvania, on 27 September US time.

Both special editions will be limited-production models aimed at driving enthusiasts.

Based on the teaser image released by Subaru, the main focus of the upgrades is on the aerodynamic package.

The WRX version is based on the higher-spec tS model and gets a large carbon-fibre rear wing mounted on the boot lid. The design has a distinctly motorsport-inspired look, echoing Subaru's performance heritage.

Details of the BRZ version have yet to be revealed. Based on Subaru's product strategy, however, its upgrades are expected to follow a similar direction, focusing on exterior styling and components related to handling.

It is worth pointing out that these limited editions do not mark the return of the STI range. Instead, they are based on the existing tS specification.

For reference, the WRX now uses a 2.4-litre turbocharged flat-four engine with Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, while the BRZ is powered by a 2.4-litre naturally aspirated flat-four and is available with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission.

Subaru says production numbers for both special editions will be limited, with the exact figures to be announced at the 27 September debut.

Based on Subaru's previous limited-edition models, the new versions are also expected to get exclusive exterior colours, identification badges and interior details to set them apart from the regular models.

In recent years, Subaru has continued to introduce limited editions in response to demand from enthusiasts. Models such as the WRX Club Spec Evo and BRZ Series.Yellow have both attracted strong interest.

Launching special editions of the WRX and BRZ at the same time gives Subaru another way to add variety to its performance-car line-up.

The WRX and BRZ both have a following in Hong Kong, so whether these limited editions, particularly the WRX with its motorsport-style rear wing, will eventually be offered locally is likely to be of interest to enthusiasts.
