Bentley Torcal debuts globally as brand's first production EV from HK$2.15 million

Bentley has officially unveiled the new Torcal electric SUV in London, marking the British luxury carmaker's first fully electric production model in its 107-year history.

The new model also becomes the fourth major model line in Bentley's current range, joining the Continental GT, Flying Spur and Bentayga.

The Torcal has also been introduced in China, where pre-orders are now open. Prices start from RMB 1.988 million (around HK$2.15 million), although the Hong Kong-dollar figure is for reference only and excludes taxes, fees and optional equipment.

The Bentley Torcal is positioned as a luxury urban SUV and is built on the PPE electric platform. It is not an electric replacement for the Bentayga, but an entirely new model in its own right.

The name comes from the Torcal de Antequera nature reserve in Spain, while its wording also shares a root with "torque", referring to the twisting force produced by a powertrain.

As a milestone in Bentley's move towards electrification, the Torcal is described by the company as its fastest-accelerating production car yet.

Bentley says the SUV delivers its performance with the brand's characteristic sense of effortless refinement. Its claimed driving range is around 600 km.

The Torcal introduces a new design language for Bentley and is the brand's first model to feature its new winged emblem.

The front end gets digital headlights, while a full-width light bar runs across the rear. The overall design combines a sportier stance with the restrained look expected of a Bentley SUV.

Inside, the Torcal uses 100% Merino wool upholstery, combined with natural wood and leather trim.

The cabin also features bespoke, hand-cut crystal elements specially made by Cumbria Crystal in the UK. Bentley says the crystal pieces use light refraction to create a distinctive visual effect.

A bespoke orchestral sound system also simulates a Bentley-specific driving soundtrack, adding an extra layer of character to the electric driving experience.

The Torcal debuts globlly with three versions: Torcal, Torcal S and Torcal S First Edition. It is also being introduced in China in three variants: the standard model, S Flowing Light and S Night. The two S versions get sportier exterior treatments and additional interior details.

Deliveries are expected to begin in 2027.

Bentley says the Torcal marks the beginning of its fully electric era. The company plans to launch one new plug-in hybrid or fully electric model every year for the next decade, with the goal of producing only fully electric vehicles from 2035 onwards.

As a new ultra-luxury electric SUV, the Torcal could eventually go up against models such as the electric Porsche Cayenne and Range Rover Electric if Bentley brings it to Hong Kong.

For now, Bentley has not confirmed whether the Torcal will be offered in Hong Kong.
