Subaru has officially introduced the all-new E-Outback, its all-electric luxury flagship SUV, priced at HK$469,900. The new model has dropped the traditional petrol engine for a pure electric drivetrain and boasts larger body dimensions.

The E-Outback receives a comprehensive powertrain overhaul, featuring a dual-motor eAxle system with high-efficiency permanent magnet synchronous motors. The system delivers a combined output of 380 PS and 536 Nm of torque, providing instant electric acceleration and a 0–100 km/h time of just 4.4 seconds. Compared with its petrol-powered predecessor, acceleration is noticeably quicker, smoother and more linear.

Built on the enhanced e-Subaru Global Platform, the E-Outback benefits from a dedicated EV architecture with a strengthened chassis and integrated body structure, significantly improving torsional rigidity and overall driving stability.

Power comes from a 74.7 kWh lithium-ion battery, offering a WLTP-rated driving range of up to 443 km. This provides ample range for daily urban commuting, weekend getaways and longer cross-border journeys from Hong Kong.

Subaru has also introduced an upgraded liquid-cooled battery thermal management system, which precisely regulates battery temperature to improve charging and discharging efficiency while enhancing long-term battery durability. Whether driving in heavy traffic, cruising on the motorway or tackling winding mountain roads, the system helps maintain consistent battery performance under a wide range of operating conditions.

The E-Outback also retains Subaru's renowned all-terrain capability. It comes standard with the brand's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system, paired with an adjustable X-MODE drive mode. Together, they provide excellent traction and stability across challenging surfaces, including wet roads, mud, gravel and uneven terrain.

Drivers can choose between Normal, Power and Eco driving modes. The newly enhanced Power mode increases rear motor output, while an added vehicle dynamics sensor continuously monitors driving conditions and optimises torque distribution in real time, delivering sharper cornering response and greater stability.

Staying true to the Outback's adventurous character, the E-Outback retains 210 mm of ground clearance and features retuned independent front and rear suspension, combining impressive off-road capability with a refined and comfortable ride.

To further enhance refinement, Subaru has incorporated additional sound-insulating materials and high-strength structural adhesives throughout the body. Together with acoustic laminated front side glass, these measures help reduce road and wind noise, creating a quieter and more premium cabin experience.

Visually, the E-Outback adopts the brand's latest design language, featuring futuristic LED headlights, matte black dual-tone wheel arches, and 20-inch alloy wheels that give it a rugged and commanding road presence. At the rear, it gets trendy full-width LED taillights and, for the first time, an illuminated Subaru emblem.

Inside, the E-Outback combines premium comfort with modern technology. The cabin features high-quality leather upholstery throughout, while the front seats come standard with heating and ventilation. The driver's seat offers 10-way power adjustment with memory and lumbar support, while the front passenger seat benefits from eight-way power adjustment, ensuring excellent comfort on long journeys.

The cabin is equipped with a sport steering wheel, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 14-inch Full HD touchscreen. Other premium features include a Harman Kardon premium audio system, a panoramic glass roof, wireless smartphone charging, a hands-free power tailgate, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and multiple USB charging ports.

Renowned for its strong focus on safety, Subaru equips the E-Outback with the full suite of Subaru Safety Sense advanced driver assistance systems. Key features include Pre-Collision Braking, Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Reverse Automatic Braking, Safe Exit Assist, and a Driver Monitoring System.
