On 3 July, Chinese automotive brand BAW Motor officially launched its all-electric M8 MPV into the Hong Kong market. The brand's local distributor, Gainfull Motors, hosted a launch event at New Town Plaza in Sha Tin to announce pricing and specifications.

The Hong Kong-spec M8 is available in two variants. The Luxury trim carries an early-bird promotional price of HK$389,900, while the Premium variant is priced at HK$429,900. Official pre-order incentives during the motor show include a HK$5,000 charging voucher and a complimentary exterior colour upgrade valued at HK$6,000.

Visually, the M8 features a contemporary, oversized vertical-slat grille flanked by sharp headlamp clusters and a sculpted front splitter, creating a layered and commanding front fascia.

The side profile adopts a sleek floating roof design, while the rear embraces a minimalist aesthetic anchored by a full-width taillight that ensures exceptional night-time visibility.

Dimensionally, the M8 measures 5,317 mm in length, 1,870 mm in width, and 1,955 mm in height, with a generous 3,200 mm wheelbase. Compared to rival MPVs in its segment, the M8 features a slightly narrower track but stands taller, offering a more elongated and stately silhouette.

Inside, the M8 adopts a minimalist, tech-focused theme defined by a wraparound cockpit layout. The dashboard houses a digital instrument cluster and a large, floating central touchscreen, exuding a highly modern ambiance.

Configured with a practical 2+2+3 seating arrangement, the M8 capitalises on its long wheelbase to ensure even third-row passengers enjoy ample legroom.

In terms of equipment, both the Luxury and Premium variants come standard with dual electric sliding side doors, front and rear parking cameras, heated wing mirrors, a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, a 14.6-inch central infotainment touchscreen with smartphone connectivity, and 50W wireless charging.

The top-tier Premium variant builds on this foundation, adding a transparent chassis view, electrically folding wing mirrors, an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), heated and ventilated power front seats, and power seats featuring heating, ventilation, and massage functions.

Under the skin, the M8 is driven by a rear-mounted single electric motor producing a maximum output of 170 kW and 310 Nm of peak torque. It is equipped with an 81 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supplied by EVE Energy, delivering a CLTC driving range of 505 km. The platform supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality and utilises a MacPherson strut front and multi-link rear suspension setup for optimized ride comfort.
