At this year’s Hong Kong Auto Expo, Hongqi officially unveiled its first global strategic SUV, named simply the Global SUV. Market sources indicate that the new model is highly likely a collaborative project between Hongqi and mainland electric vehicle brand Leapmotor. Under their previous cooperation agreement, Leapmotor is responsible for providing fully self-developed electrification and intelligent driving technologies, while FAW-Hongqi contributes traditional powertrain expertise and supply chain resources, combining their respective strengths to create this global-oriented model.

The new Global SUV fully inherits Hongqi’s signature luxury design language. The front adopts a clean closed grille with a lower air intake section. Sharp headlights on both sides incorporate unique shattered diamond “starry galaxy” lighting effects, delivering high visual recognition. In terms of proportions, the vehicle has a compact footprint, positioning it as a compact SUV focused on practicality and refined driving experience.

The side profile features smooth lines with semi-retractable door handles and five-spoke petal-style wheel options, showcasing high-quality detailing. The rear is sleek and dynamic, sharing a similar overall style with the Hongqi HS5, now updated with a full-width taillight assembly. Multiple blacked-out trim elements across the vehicle create a youthful and sporty atmosphere. Observers have also noted that the overall silhouette shares many similarities with the Leapmotor B10, further confirming the co-development background.

Hongqi had previously released camouflaged-free images of the new model on overseas social media, stating that it is specifically designed to meet global lifestyle needs. The vehicle targets users who prioritise everyday riding comfort and high-quality travel experiences.
More detailed specifications, powertrain information, and potential Hong Kong launch plans will be closely monitored and reported as they become available.
