Hongqi EHS5: A Powerful New Pure Electric SUV Showcased at 2026 Hong Kong Auto Expo

At this year’s Hong Kong Auto Expo, Hongqi showcased its high-performance pure electric SUV, the EHS5. The new model corresponds to the Tiangong 06 sold in mainland China and marks Hongqi’s first pure electric mid-size SUV equipped with a 900V high-voltage platform. It also features the brand’s “Southern Compass Intelligent Driving” system, a pure vision-based solution that supports advanced functions including Highway NOA, Urban NOA, automatic parking, and multi-level memory parking.

The EHS5 adopts a closed front grille exclusive to electric vehicles, with a glowing Hongqi new energy logo positioned centrally. It is flanked by sharp, angular headlight clusters that create a strong visual impact. The lower front bumper features a three-dimensional and dynamic design with a full-width air intake, further enhancing the sporty character of the front fascia.

The side profile is characterised by simple and smooth lines, complemented by mainstream hidden door handles and multi-spoke blacked-out sporty wheels, giving the vehicle a poised yet dynamic stance.

At the rear, Hongqi has moved away from the common full-width taillight design in favour of exclusive, uniquely shaped taillights that offer high recognisability and strong character when illuminated. The lower rear bumper adopts a full-width design that echoes the front, creating a cohesive and layered front-to-rear aesthetic.

The cabin follows Hongqi’s latest family design language, featuring extensive soft-touch materials and a suede-like headliner for a luxurious feel. The EHS5 is equipped with the Lingxi Intelligent Cockpit, powered by a new-generation intelligent connectivity system with dual high-compute chips and a 15.6-inch 2.5K central display.

Intelligent voice functions have been significantly upgraded, supporting full-command continuous conversation, visible-element voice control, offline dialogue, and AI large model-based interaction, greatly improving ease of use.

Comfort features are comprehensive, including a zero-gravity front passenger seat, an ecological-grade negative oxygen ion air purification system, privacy glass, mirrored door panels, and warm-toned ambient lighting. A new “bed mode” has also been added for rest during long journeys. A Dynaudio sound system is available as an option to further elevate the in-car audio experience.

The vehicle offers excellent practicality, with a standard trunk capacity of 472 litres that expands to 1,611 litres when the rear seats are folded down.

The Hongqi EHS5 is available in single-motor rear-wheel-drive and dual-motor all-wheel-drive configurations. The single-motor version delivers a maximum power of 210 kW, while the dual-motor AWD variant provides 202 kW at the front and 210 kW at the rear, offering ample power reserves with strong stability and performance.
