At this year's Hong Kong International Auto Expo, Leapmotor unveiled the D99, the first MPV built on the premium D platform. Pre-sales for the model will officially begin in China's mainland on June 25. While it remains uncertain whether the D99 will be launched in Hong Kong, its product capabilities suggest it would be a formidable contender if introduced locally.

The D99 features a sleek, streamlined "bullet-shaped" body design paired with highly distinctive split headlamps, establishing a unique and recognisable family design language. The lower main light clusters adopt a square shape, while the upper full-width daytime running light strip incorporates angular elements on both sides, creating a strong sense of depth and technological sophistication. The vehicle is equipped with million-pixel DLP projector headlights, offering both excellent illumination performance and a high-tech appeal.
For exterior colors, five options are available: Optical White, Liquid Silver, Dawn Blue, Sky Grey, and Metallic Black, providing diverse choices.

The side profile presents a minimalist yet premium aesthetic, highlighted by a silver trim strip that follows the smooth roofline. The thickened D-pillar emphasises the vehicle's solidity, while the sliding door tracks are discreetly hidden beneath the third-row window glass for a clean appearance. Black window surrounds and large gloss-finished alloy wheels further elevate the luxurious feel. A massive panoramic sunroof covering 1.46 square metres, with over 99.9% UV blocking rate, provides excellent natural lighting and superior heat insulation.
At the rear, the design continues the round and minimalist theme, with full-width taillights seamlessly connected to the rear window for a unified visual effect. The English brand name "LEAPMOTOR" is positioned below the taillights. A standout feature is the ISD intelligent interactive lighting system, which supports multiple dynamic light modes, adding a strong technological flair.

The D99 introduces the industry's first cabin-driving integrated central domain control system, powered by an edge-side large AI model, delivering a significantly upgraded intelligent experience. The centre console adopts an ultra-minimalist design, featuring a digital instrument cluster, a large floating central infotainment screen, a HUD head-up display, and a ceiling-mounted entertainment screen for rear passengers.
On the hardware side, the vehicle debuts an industry-first 1280 TOPS dual Snapdragon 8797 chip system, providing immense computing power for smooth intelligent interaction and advanced driver assistance. It is also equipped with a VLA (Vision-Language-Action) large model-based assisted driving system, comprehensively enhancing both intelligence and safety.

Interior space flexibility is one of the D99's core strengths. The first and second rows can be fully reclined into a flat bed, while the third row folds completely flat at 180 degrees. When the second and third rows are folded together, an extra-large flat loading space is created. The third row also features a unique "fishing seat" function for added versatility.

The trunk adopts a recessed storage design for a completely flat loading floor. Premium features include second-row zero-gravity aviation seats that can rotate 90 degrees for face-to-face seating, along with a dedicated large table, making the vehicle equally suitable for family leisure trips or business use. Additional highlights include an openable panoramic sunroof and a full-width star-ring ambient lighting system, creating a luxurious and comfortable cabin environment.
Regarding powertrain, the Leapmotor D99 is available in both Extended Range and Pure Electric versions.
The Extended Range variant utilises an 800V high-voltage platform and features the industry's first dual-motor four-wheel-drive extended-range architecture with integrated CTC battery-chassis technology, paired with an 80.3 kWh high-capacity battery pack.
The Pure Electric version is equipped with a full-stack 1000V system and is the first to adopt CATL's 115 kWh super hybrid cells, promising class-leading performance and range.
