FAW Hongqi officially announced recently that the brand's first rugged off-road vehicle has been officially named "Hongqi G919". The manufacturer also provided a detailed interpretation of the deep meaning behind the model's naming, highlighting its status as a national flag carrier and its flagship positioning.

Regarding the meaning of the name, the letter "G" stands for the backbone of the national car, symbolizing the protection of the long journey; the first digit "9" indicates the vehicle's top-tier flagship positioning, reflecting premium craftsmanship and exclusivity; the digit "1" represents first-class product performance and an ultimate driving experience; the final "9" symbolizes all-around thoughtful service, implying long-term companionship with car owners and accompanying them along the way, building a professional off-road vehicle with the character of a national car.

In terms of exterior design, the Hongqi G919 adopts the industry's classic rugged box-shaped body design, offering extremely high brand recognition. The front features rectangular LED headlight clusters and a vertical closed grille, equipped with a front bumper and exposed tow hooks. The rear is fitted with a spare tire, creating a rugged and domineering overall line, exuding a bold off-road aesthetic. A lidar module is integrated at the front of the roof. It is reported that the new car will be equipped with Huawei's Qianshun ADS advanced intelligent driving assistance system, supporting highway and urban navigation-assisted driving, with comprehensive and excellent intelligent performance.

Power and performance are the core highlights of this new vehicle. It is equipped with an extended-range hybrid system consisting of a 2.0-liter turbocharged range extender and four motors. The combined maximum power reaches up to 620 kilowatts, with a peak torque of 1320 Newton-meters, delivering extremely powerful output. The vehicle body is equipped with a 63 kilowatt-hour ternary lithium battery pack, achieving a CLTC pure electric range of 280 kilometers. It also employs a non-load-bearing body specifically designed for professional off-road vehicles, paired with a four-motor independent drive system, offering exceptional off-road capability and adaptability to complex road conditions.

Inside the cabin, the new car continues Hongqi's signature luxurious design style, featuring a large floating central control screen and a full LCD instrument cluster, while retaining some physical buttons to balance technology with operational convenience in off-road scenarios. The model is available in both five-seat and seven-seat layouts, catering to different users' passenger and practical needs.
