FAQs
Is the Hongqi E-QM5 available in Hong Kong?
Yes. The Hongqi E-QM5 was officially launched in Hong Kong in November 2025, with the first batch being right-hand drive new energy taxis, introduced by Longsheng New Energy Holdings Limited. Starting from January 2026, the Hongqi E-QM5 right-hand drive battery-swapping taxis have officially entered service on Hong Kong streets, with an initial plan to deploy approximately 300 vehicles.
What is the battery-swapping technology of the Hongqi E-QM5, and how long does it take?
The Hongqi E-QM5 uses CATL's "Chocolate Swap" battery-swapping technology, equipped with a 56 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. The entire swapping process takes just 99 seconds, which is even faster than refuelling, significantly reducing taxi drivers' downtime.
What is the range of the Hongqi E-QM5? Is it sufficient for a full day of taxi operation?
The Hongqi E-QM5 has a CLTC range of up to 500 km, which is sufficient for a full day of taxi operation in Hong Kong. Combined with the fast battery-swapping technology, drivers can replenish energy extremely quickly without worrying about range limitations.
Where are the battery-swapping stations for the Hongqi E-QM5 located, and how many are there?
The first "Chocolate Swap" station for the Hongqi E-QM5 has already commenced operation in Fanling, New Territories. The operator plans to establish 6 stations by the end of 2026 and expand to 14 stations across Hong Kong by 2027, covering key areas of the city for convenient access.
