BMW M3 有兩個動力級別。標準後驅棍波版 M3 嘅馬力係 480 匹，扭力 550 牛頓米。而頂級 M3 Competition M xDrive 版嘅馬力就達到 530 匹，扭力 650 牛頓米。兩個版本都係用 3.0 公升直六雙渦輪增壓引擎。
The BMW M3 has two power levels. The standard rear-wheel drive manual M3 produces 480 hp and 550 Nm of torque. The range-topping M3 Competition M xDrive produces 530 hp and 650 Nm of torque. Both use a 3.0-litre inline-6 twin-turbo engine.
