On October 11, the Avatr T09 Concept made its global debut in Paris, with the interior revealed for the first time. It will appear at the Paris Motor Show alongside the Avatr 06T and 07L from the 12th to the 18th. As the first product of the Avatr flagship series, the T09 is positioned as a 500,000-level flagship luxury SUV and is planned to launch within the year. For Avatr, the significance of this vehicle lies not only in adding a new model but also in the overall upward shift of the brand's price band.

From the product perspective, the T09's configuration continues the collaboration model of Changan, Huawei, and CATL. Officially, it is called the Avatr mass-produced model with the highest technical density. According to declaration information from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the new car is 5285mm long with a wheelbase of 3150mm, adopting a six-seater layout and belonging to the standard full-size three-row SUV category. In terms of design, the T09 abandoned Avatr's previous fastback coupe language, turning to a more architectural styling that emphasizes volume and presence. This is a necessary adjustment for the brand to enter the large six-seat market.

There are two key points at the technical level. The first is the combination of the new Taihang Intelligent Control and Huawei Qiankun Intelligent Driving. Declaration information shows the new car is equipped with rear-wheel steering, closed dual-chamber air suspension, and distributed electric drive. The minimum turning radius is in the 4-meter class, largely making up for the flexibility shortcoming of the large body size. The second is power. The 2.0T hybrid engine is paired with three motors. The total system power exceeds 1000 horsepower. The 71.24kWh CATL Xiaoyao Super Range-Extender·Hybrid battery provides an electric range of over 400km under CLTC.

Avatr launching the T09 at this time is obviously not a simple move to cater to the market. As a technology enterprise with a traditional automaker background, Avatr's new car plan should have set the direction several years ago. The current flagship full-size SUV market is already fiercely competitive. The T09 arrives a bit late, but perhaps just in time.
As is well known, the 500,000-level large six-seat SUV is one of the segments with the most concentrated profits in the domestic high-end market in recent years. The T09's hybrid route also balances long-distance recharging and urban pure electric use, fitting the core needs of family users. Secondly, Avatr's previous products were concentrated in the 300,000 RMB range, lacking a flagship capable of raising the brand's average price. The T09 fills this shortcoming and also lays the foundation for subsequent flagship series models.

But the challenges are also obvious. There are already multiple products in this sub-market, accumulating user awareness and reputation. As a latecomer, Avatr needs to solve brand awareness problems beyond product strength. In addition, the shift in design style also carries risks. It needs to attract new users without diluting Avatr's original brand identity. The final pricing will also be key to determining whether the T09 can achieve high sales volume.
Choosing to debut in Paris likely stems from Avatr's strategic considerations. Europe is the birthplace of traditional luxury brands and also the standard setter of the global luxury car market. Launching a flagship model in Paris is itself a display of brand positioning to the global market. Avatr plans to officially enter Europe in 2027. The 06T and 07L will land in Norway and Spain first. Although the T09 has not yet announced its overseas launch plan, completing its global debut by leveraging the Paris Motor Show will help accumulate attention for the brand's entry into Europe in advance.

Looking at it in the context of Changan Automobile's overall layout, this move is easier to understand. During the Beijing Auto Show in April this year, Changan launched the Plan "Integrating Hundred Rivers" 2.0, targeting overseas sales of 1.5 million units in 2030, striving for 1.8 million units. Changan's overseas sales in 2025 were 637,000 units, with sales networks covering 118 countries and regions. According to Changan's statement, going global is shifting from "selling products" to the overall global expansion of the entire industry chain and system. Europe is positioned as a strategic highland for internationalization.

In this system, the Changan brand relies on fuel and hybrid models to bear sales volume, while Avatr is responsible for brand breakthroughs in the high-end market. Currently, Avatr's overseas business has covered 70 countries and regions, with an average product sales price exceeding 300,000 RMB, and it has achieved profitability. Among them, the market share of high-end electric vehicles in Egypt reached 10%, and the Avatr 11 ranks first in sales in Thailand's luxury pure electric SUV market. According to the plan, Avatr will enter over 110 countries and regions in 2030, with overseas sales accounting for over 50%.

From these perspectives, the strategic significance of the T09 will far exceed other products, raising Avatr's brand height domestically and providing image support for Changan's high-end global expansion overseas. At the product level, it possesses the hardware foundation to compete with mainstream flagships. At the market level, it will face a mature and intense competitive landscape. Rising heat is the first step. The pricing strategy and delivery schedule at launch within the year, and more importantly, the luxury brand narrative expression, will be the more important step to test how the T09 converts heat into sales volume.
