Can a new energy vehicle truly handle long-distance travel? It's not enough to just look at the specs. The real proof is to drive it out, cover over 10,000 kilometers, and see if it can withstand all kinds of tests along the way.
On August 25, the "2026 Silk Road Ten Thousand Miles Expedition · Inspiration Road", with BYD as the full-service travel partner, arrived in Singapore and officially concluded successfully.

Departing from Xi'an, after 33 days and covering over 10,000 kilometers, the fleet crossed six provinces in China and traversed Thailand and Malaysia, finally arriving in Singapore. This time, with green energy accompanying the Silk Road journey, BYD also took the technical strength of new energy vehicles to the real roads through a true cross-border long-distance trip.
The theme of this event is "Technology for Innovation · Civilization for Connectivity". Why choose Xi'an and Singapore as the start and end points? Because Xi'an is an important starting point of the ancient Silk Road, while Singapore is a key maritime hub connecting the East and the West. Thousands of years ago, merchants transported goods and exchanged civilizations along the Silk Road; today, new energy vehicles have taken up the baton on this road, using electric drive and intelligent technology to reconnect different countries and cities along the route.
The vehicle lineup for this fleet consisted of the five BYD brands: Dynasty, Ocean, Denza, Fang Cheng Bao, and Yangwang, forming a new energy vehicle fleet. Facing different scenarios such as highways, mountain roads, and urban congestion, they completed a genuine long-distance test. The most noteworthy aspects were energy replenishment and intelligent driving.
For long-distance new energy travel, the two questions everyone cares about are: how fast is the charging, and how tiring is it to drive? BYD's flash charging technology answers with "5 minutes to charge well, 9 minutes to charge full". In daily commuting, this might just be a specification, but in a cross-border journey of over 10,000 kilometers, energy replenishment efficiency directly affects the fleet's travel efficiency.
Plus, with the continually improving flash charging network, long-distance travel for new energy vehicles is gradually shifting from the past "worry about running out of power" to a more efficient and calm energy replenishment experience. On the other side, the Divine Eye Assisted Driving System also underwent the test of real roads. The fatigue of long-distance driving is often not caused by a single complex road condition, but by driving continuously for several hours or even longer.
The Divine Eye relies on massive amounts of real road data for continuous iteration, providing assistance in scenarios such as highways and cities, making long-distance driving easier. Data shows its daily real-world driving data has exceeded 220 million kilometers. Therefore, the significance of this lies in BYD not keeping technology on the launch stage and specification sheets, but directly driving the vehicles tens of thousands of miles away to verify technology with real roads.
The final destination, Singapore, is also worth noting. As of July 2026, BYD has ranked first in passenger car sales across all brands in Singapore for 19 consecutive months. From January to July this year, BYD's passenger car market share in Singapore reached 24.7%, with the pure electric vehicle market share reaching 40.3%. It is worth noting that Singapore is one of the markets with high car ownership costs globally, and consumers are more cautious in choosing car brands and products. Under such market conditions, BYD maintaining its lead also shows that Chinese new energy vehicles are gaining recognition from more and more overseas consumers.
Currently, BYD has established 16 retail touchpoints in Singapore, with some stores located in local core shopping centers. Looking at the global stage, from January to July this year, BYD's overseas cumulative sales exceeded 970,000 units, a year-on-year increase of about 76%; overseas sales in July reached 179,800 units, a year-on-year increase of 124.3%. As of now, BYD new energy vehicles have entered more than 120 countries and regions worldwide. From Thailand and Singapore to Europe, South America, the Middle East, and Africa, the presence of Chinese new energy vehicles can be seen in more and more places.
So looking back at this "Silk Road Ten Thousand Miles Expedition", what truly deserves attention may not just be the act of "driving over 10,000 kilometers". More importantly, we are witnessing a new change. In the past, the Silk Road connected commodities and civilizations; today, Chinese new energy vehicles are becoming a new carrier connecting green technology and the global market. From ancient camel caravans trekking thousands of miles, to today's electric drive fleet traveling south; from post station resupply to the current efficient charging network, transportation tools are changing, technology is advancing, but the steps of China and the world continuously communicating and connecting have never stopped.
Green energy accompanies the long Silk Road journey. Singapore is the destination of this trip, but not necessarily the end of the global journey for Chinese new energy vehicles. As an increasing number of Chinese cars head to the world, we see not only the change in the automotive industry but also that Chinese manufacturing and technology are moving from "going out" to stepping towards the world and integrating into it. This is the true meaning of this ten-thousand-mile journey.
