[Chery Automobile Apologizes for Rear Axle Welding Hazards in Overseas Models] Recently, Chery Automobile released an "Explanation Regarding Issues with Malaysia OMODA 5 Vehicles," explaining the relevant issues and expressing apologies.

Regarding this rear axle welding hazard incident concerning Malaysia's OMODA 5, Chery's response was relatively timely. It was identified that the rear axle trailing arm weld strength was insufficient, carrying a risk of tearing in extreme situations. Nearly 8,900 vehicles were recalled locally at the first opportunity to cooperate with local regulatory handling; fortunately, no personnel were injured in this incident.

What is worth noting is that Chery simultaneously launched a special inspection for the same batch of Omoda in the domestic market. Although the involved model has been discontinued, proactively carrying out preventive inspection and not avoiding the issue is commendable.

In fact, quality issues in overseas markets can easily affect brand reputation, but proactively recalling and admitting problems turns the passive into the active, which is commendable. Of course, subsequent results depend on domestic inspection. If hazards are found, it is hoped that corresponding disposal plans can be provided quickly, giving a clear explanation to domestic car owners and safeguarding the product safety bottom line.
