Zhuhai International Circuit (ZIC)

Definition and Historical Status
Located in Tangjiawan Town, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, Zhuhai International Circuit was established in 1993 and officially commissioned in November 1996, making it China's first permanent international circuit. Australian engineering firm Kinhill Engineers (who contributed to the design of the Adelaide F1 street circuit) served as the primary design consultant, followed by an upgrade and reconfiguration in 1999 by renowned F1 track designer Hermann Tilke. ZIC holds dual certification from the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM), and has long been revered as the "cradle" and "Whampoa Military Academy" of Chinese motorsport.

Track Layout and Key Characteristics
The clockwise circuit measures 4.3 km in length and features 14 turns, comprising 4 left-handers and 10 right-handers. The track incorporates two straights measuring 900 metres and 500 metres respectively, with cars clocking top speeds in excess of 300 km/h towards the end of the main straight. The track width spans 12 metres, widening to 14 metres along the pit straight. ZIC's layout is renowned for its high speeds and ample overtaking opportunities; Turn 1 serves as the fastest corner entry on the circuit, Turn 4 is a demanding, high-speed left-hander offering prime overtaking chances, the consecutive left-hand Turns 9 and 10 form a high-risk error zone due to the extremely short exit straight, and Turn 14 stands as the quickest corner leading back onto the main grandstand straight.

Historical Evolution and Racing Heritage
ZIC's history dates back to 1993, when it hosted urban street races for three consecutive years, pioneering circuit racing in China. In November 1996, upon completion, ZIC immediately hosted the BPR Global GT Series, marking China's first international motorsport event held on a Formula 1-grade circuit. Since then, ZIC has consecutively staged major international events, including the FIA GT Championship, A1 Grand Prix, and the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup 6 Hours of Zhuhai. In the 2026 season, ZIC continues to host the Xiaomi · China Supercar Championship (China GT) Zhuhai round with a 52-supercar grid, where Wang Yibo competed for UNO Racing Team in the GT3 AM+ class to secure a runner-up finish. In August of the same year, the Xiaomi · China Endurance Championship (CEC) Zhuhai Round GT Cup 4-Hour Endurance Race was also staged here.

Pan Delta Super Racing Festival
ZIC's most iconic proprietary brand event is the Pan Delta Super Racing Festival, established in 2005 as China's first grassroots motorsport festival, holding three race meets annually across spring, summer, and autumn in March, June, and September. The event brings together formula racing, touring cars, superbikes, and drifting, headlined by its core "Circuit Hero" series tailored for cost-effective competition—car modification budgets start from as low as RM50,000 alongside an entry fee of RM2,100 per round to attract grassroots racing enthusiasts. As of 2023, Pan Delta has drawn over 5,300 drivers and more than 1.16 million trackside spectators; selected races were elevated to international regional events under FIA and FIM sanction in 2016, and the festival was awarded the Guangdong Sports Industry Demonstration Project title in 2020.
