Tianjin V1 Auto World Circuit (V1 Auto World Circuit)

Definition and Historical Status
Tianjin V1 Auto World International Circuit is located in Wuqing District, Tianjin, adjacent to the Beijing-Tianjin Intercity Railway Wuqing Station and Florentia Village. Developed by the US-based Waitex Group, it is an FIA-certified Grade 2 (G2) professional circuit and the only FIA Grade 2 circuit in Northern China. The circuit officially commenced operations on 11 November 2018, with its inaugural race being the season finale of the China Prototype Endurance Series. Covering an area of over 650,000 square metres with a total built-up area of approximately 600,000 square metres, the V1 Auto World development is positioned as an innovative automotive eco-park integrating motorsport, vehicle retail, and lifestyle experiences. It has been recognised among China's Top 100 Exemplary Cultural Tourism Cases and rated as a National AAA-level Tourist Attraction.

Circuit Layout and Core Characteristics
Designed by the world-renowned circuit architecture firm Tilke, the track offers a maximum lap length of up to 4.3 km, making it the longest professional-grade circuit in North China. Running in a clockwise direction, the circuit features 17 corners (9 left-handers and 11 right-handers), a maximum straight of around 850 metres, an 800-metre straight-line acceleration section, and 9 selectable track configurations. The most defining attribute of the V1 Circuit is its hybrid "semi-permanent, semi-street" layout. By incorporating surrounding public road sections within the park, it blends the wide sightlines of a permanent purpose-built circuit with the raw thrill of a street circuit—a design feature unique among racing circuits in China.

Driving Challenges and Key Track Sections
V1 Circuit is renowned for its technical demands, characterised by tight and highly challenging corner complexes. Turn 1 (T1) and Turn 2 (T2) form a tight combination spaced less than 100 metres apart. The downhill entry into T1 tends to induce understeer, requiring drivers to treat both turns as a single continuous sequence to carry optimal momentum. T2 leads onto a straight of roughly 380 metres, meaning the driver's entry line through T1 and exit composure out of T2 dictate the initial speed down the straight—making it a textbook section where corner exit speed makes or breaks straight-line pace. The circuit demands pinpoint accuracy in braking points and racing lines; following his Tianjin debut, F4 driver Zhao Zijun remarked that V1 Circuit is "technically demanding with scarce overtaking opportunities, making on-track battles exceptionally fierce".

Race Hosting and Operational Highlights
Since starting operations in 2018, V1 Auto World hosted over 200 event days in its inaugural year alone, staging numerous major domestic and international motorsport competitions. In May 2026, the FIA Formula 4 Chinese Championship made its debut at the Tianjin V1 Circuit, drawing over 30,000 spectators across two days and securing its slot on the final weekend of every May moving forward. In July 2026, the Royal Drift Series Tianjin Round was staged here, attracting 45 top drifters from 11 countries worldwide.

V1 Auto World's business model fundamentally differs from that of conventional circuits. Rather than operating purely as a racing venue, it serves as the foundation of a broader consumer pyramid: starting with accessible spectator tickets, it expands upwards to track days, performance driving courses, and racing licence training, before culminating in full competition entry—establishing a clear conversion pipeline from spectator and track-day participant to motorsport enthusiast and racer. The circuit operates synergistically alongside Florentia Village, Creative Milan, and Auto Showcase within Wuqing's new commercial hub, with Florentia Village recording up to a 30% jump in daily retail turnover during major race weekends. By integrating racing, exhibitions, and live entertainment, V1 Auto World converts sporting footfall into tangible commercial returns; in 2025, it hosted 7 major domestic and international automotive events, generating over RM1,000,000,000 in consumer spending.
