Brand Overview

Skyworth Auto is a new energy vehicle brand under Jiangsu Kewo New Energy Automotive Co., Ltd. It was established on April 27, 2021, with headquarters in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, and a production base in Lishui District, Nanjing. Kewo New Energy Vehicle Group is based in Nanjing Airport High‑Tech Industrial Park and is the only company in Jiangsu that integrates R&D, production, and sales of new energy vehicles and core components. The brand originated from "Temei Auto," which was founded in 2019 by Huang Hongsheng, founder of Skyworth Group.

Skyworth Auto's logo is a shield‑shaped letter "W" that resembles a power button and plug, symbolizing safety and electric drive. With the strategic positioning of "New China Manufacturing," the brand focuses on pure electric and plug‑in hybrid models, including the EV6 and HT‑i series. Its vehicles feature active sleep‑promotion technology, a super air filtration system, and the SKYLINK intelligent connected system. Skyworth Auto is committed to providing "zero‑carbon smart solutions" and positions itself as "the fighter pilot's third space," aiming to go beyond transportation and build new mobile living scenarios for users worldwide.

Founder Huang Hongsheng was born in Hainan in 1956. He graduated from South China University of Technology's Radio Engineering Department and later served as Deputy General Manager of the South China Branch of China National Electronics Import & Export Corporation. In 1988, he left to start Skyworth Group, turning Skyworth into a leading brand in China's TV industry. In 2010, Huang founded Kewo New Energy Vehicle Group Co., Ltd. through the restructuring of Nanjing Golden Dragon Bus, entering the commercial vehicle space and beginning his new energy vehicle journey. Skyworth Auto maintains a brand licensing relationship with Skyworth Group: the group grants Kewo the right to use the trademark, and the two collaborate deeply on smart home IoT, smart cockpits, offline retail, and charging services. Shenzhen Skyworth Auto Intelligent Co., Ltd. (established in June 2005) has also provided key technical support in automotive electronics.

Development History

Skyworth Auto's development traces a path from commercial vehicles to passenger cars, achieving a strategic leap toward a "commercial‑passenger dual‑track" model—and serving as a classic case of a home appliance maker crossing into the automotive industry.

Commercial Vehicle Foundation Period (2010–2019)

In 2010, Huang Hongsheng founded Kewo New Energy Vehicle Group through the restructuring of Nanjing Golden Dragon Bus, formally entering the new energy commercial vehicle space. Kewo built up core strengths in vehicle manufacturing and three‑electric systems. In May 2017, Kewo obtained new energy passenger vehicle production qualifications and began developing its first passenger car—the Temei ET5. In November 2019, Jiangsu Temei Automotive Co., Ltd. was established, marking the brand's entry into passenger car production.

Passenger Vehicle Startup Period (2020–2021)

In April 2020, Temei Auto announced the name of its first SUV—the Temei ET5—which went on sale that September. In March 2021, Kewo Group signed a trademark transfer agreement with Skyworth Group; on April 27, Skyworth Group officially announced that Temei Auto had been renamed Skyworth Auto. On July 27, 2021, the first intelligent pure electric SUV—the Skyworth EV6—was delivered.

Product Expansion Period (2022–2024)

On April 27, 2022, Skyworth Auto launched its first plug‑in hybrid SUV, the Skyworth HT‑i, which went on sale that August. The vehicle used BYD's DM‑i hybrid system, marking an important step in Skyworth's hybrid strategy. In June 2023, the EV6 II and HT‑i II were launched with upgraded performance. That year, Skyworth Auto hit a peak with 3,635 deliveries in September—including 1,420 exports, up 142% year‑on‑year. In March 2024, the SKYHOME concept sedan appeared at the Global Dealer Conference, and the EV6 II Super Charging RHD model was launched, entering Hong Kong's right‑hand drive market.

Globalization Transformation Period (2025–Present)

On March 18, 2025, Skyworth Auto held its largest global dealer conference to date in Lishui, Nanjing, unveiling its "Double Speed Growth" strategy and, for the first time, laying out a 2030 vision of breaking into the global EV top 10. At the conference, the new high‑end model Skyworth Rock (an 800V‑based premium pure electric SUV) and the SKYWORTH Q (a compact pure electric concept) made their debuts. The 2025 HT‑i Smart Engine Edition (five trims, priced from 89,800 to 155,800 RMB) and the 2025 EV6 Intelligent Driving Edition (three trims, from 109,800 to 139,800 RMB) were officially launched. As of early 2026, Skyworth Auto had sold to 68 countries and regions, with over 30,000 overseas channel stores and more than 200,000 new energy vehicle users.

Brand Portfolio

Skyworth Auto operates on a dual‑track product strategy—passenger cars and commercial vehicles—and has built a diversified lineup spanning pure electric, plug‑in hybrid, and extended‑range technologies.

Passenger Car Lineup

Skyworth EV6 Series is the brand's pure electric mainstay. The 2025 EV6 Intelligent Driving Edition comes standard with L2 driver assistance—including adaptive cruise, lane keeping, and auto parking. Built on an 800V architecture, it offers single‑motor options at 170 kW and 250 kW, with CLTC ranges of 430 km and 520 km, priced between 109,800 and 139,800 RMB. A new EV6 model launched in November 2025 starts at 139,800 RMB.

Skyworth HT‑i Series is the brand's plug‑in hybrid SUV line. The first model launched in August 2022, using BYD's DM‑i hybrid system with a 1.5L dedicated engine, a pure electric range of 200 km, a combined range of 1,267 km, and fuel consumption as low as 5.3 L/100 km. The 2025 Smart Engine Edition upgraded to a 1.5T plug‑in hybrid powertrain, with engine output raised to 115 kW and drive motor to 160 kW. The price was also cut to 89,800 RMB, making it a value benchmark in the mid‑size new energy SUV segment.

Skyworth Rock is Skyworth's global flagship SUV, built on an 800V platform with a 4C supercharging battery that supports "8 minutes of charging for 800 li (about 400 km) of range." Its V2G bi‑directional charging technology can output 120 kW in reverse, supporting emergency rescue or home power needs. A unique left‑and‑right‑hand drive universal center console design allows one mold to serve both LHD and RHD markets, significantly cutting development costs and production lead times for global deployment.

SKYWORTH Q is a two‑door pure electric compact concept car planned for 2026, built around a "Third Space" design with swivel seats, a projection screen, and a health monitoring system—including active sleep mode and airbag massage sleeping pads. SKYHOME is a business shooting brake slated for January 2027, targeting premium smart mobility.

Skyworth SUMMER is a 7‑seat MPV, 5,290 mm long with a 3,250 mm wheelbase. It uses a 1.5T plug‑in hybrid system (engine from Liuzhou Wuling Engine, max power 115 kW), catering to multi‑child families and business reception needs.

Commercial Vehicle Lineup

Leveraging Kewo Group's decade of commercial vehicle experience, Skyworth has built a multi‑category commercial lineup. In October 2025, at the Brussels World Bus Expo, Skyworth premiered the 12‑meter pure electric city bus NJL6128BEV, the Skyworth City Elf electric minibus, and the new electric large van Skyworth Hongtu (cargo and passenger versions)—targeting four key European scenarios: urban logistics, tourist shuttles, public transit, and dense city commuting.

Platforms and Product Planning

Skyworth Auto is built on three self‑developed new energy platforms—BE, CE, and AE—and plans to launch seven model families and over 14 new products to meet varied global market needs. In 2026, the brand will focus on upgrading its 1.5L and 1.5T hybrid systems and accelerating the launch of the Skyworth Rock, with smart cockpit and range performance as key selling points.

Market Performance

Skyworth Auto's sales tell a clear story: soft at home, strong overseas.

The brand's best run came from the second half of 2023 through the first half of 2024. November 2023 marked the wholesale peak (3,936 wholesale, 1,976 retail, 1,921 exports), while retail peaked in July 2024 (1,334 retail, 628 terminal). After that, sales began to slide. By 2025, domestic retail had shrunk to around 3,000 units for the full year. In the first quarter of 2026, monthly wholesale volume dropped from 681 units in December 2025 to 238 in March. In March 2026, Skyworth Auto posted just 49 retail sales nationwide—ranking 104th among all brands.

Overseas, though, the picture is completely different. In 2022, Skyworth sold 21,900 units total, with only 1,098 exported. In 2023, full‑year sales dipped to 18,600, but exports jumped sharply—from August to December, monthly export volumes held in the thousands. In 2024, total sales were around 12,000, but strong overseas demand—especially from the Middle East—helped the brand turn a profit. For 2025, Skyworth set a target of 40,000 units, with overseas markets expected to make up 65%.

Those overseas profits made Skyworth Auto one of the few new‑force brands to actually turn a profit in the EV space. Founder Huang Hongsheng said the company made about 200 million RMB in net profit in 2024, with per‑vehicle overseas profit exceeding 5,000 RMB. Even with brutal competition at home, the brand stayed in the black. Co‑CEO Han Biwen said that as the company heads into 2026, it will keep pushing on technology and product updates while staying focused on its global strategy.

Core Technologies

Skyworth Auto runs on a "technology first" philosophy, building its edge around three core areas: electrification, intelligence, and energy ecosystems.

800V Full‑Domain High‑Voltage Platform and Ultra‑Fast Charging

The brand's 800V platform is its most significant piece of tech. It supports up to 490 kW of charging power and pairs with a 4C ultra‑fast battery that adds roughly 400 km of range in just eight minutes. The electric drive system, built on the 800V architecture, uses industry‑leading high‑voltage tech and supports broad‑range DC discharge with a maximum current of over 500A.

V2G Bi‑Directional Charging

Skyworth was among the first to mass‑produce V2G, enabling 120 kW vehicle‑to‑vehicle DC discharge—turning an 800V car into a mobile high‑voltage charger. This lets owners store energy during off‑peak hours and sell it back to the grid when demand is high, adding real value while boosting EV utility in emergency scenarios.

PV‑Storage‑Charging‑Mobility Ecosystem

Skyworth has built a full‑chain zero‑carbon solution that links solar generation, energy storage, charging, and operations. Through the "Skyworth New Energy Triangle"—Skyworth Auto, Skyworth PV, and Skyworth Energy Storage—the brand launched the Lingguang Super Charging Station. Its solar panels generate over 30 million kWh a year, covering 80% of the factory's power needs and creating a closed‑loop zero‑carbon energy system.

AI Smart Cockpit

Skyworth is one of the first carmakers to deeply integrate AI models. Its Xiao Wei AIOS, built on DeepSeek, enables full‑scenario voice control and "see‑and‑say" interaction. The system can read your mood and recommend music, and it learns your habits to deliver personalized service. The SKYLINK cockpit has evolved to version 2.7—from body‑sensing music therapy in Era 2.0 to voice and air purification in 2.7, and now to health cockpit 3.0, which shifts from passive to active health management. It includes health monitoring, airbag massage, and high‑energy instrument functions, pushing the cockpit far beyond just driving.

Smart Manufacturing

Skyworth's Lishui plant in Nanjing uses dozens of robotic arms in the body welding shop, with precision down to 0.1 mm. The paint shop runs water‑based coatings and intelligent climate controls. AGV unmanned vehicles deliver parts with precision, enabling lean production. The whole factory is linked to Skyworth's Lingguang Super Charging Station, achieving clean energy self‑circulation through solar, storage, and charging integration.

Global Strategy

Skyworth Auto's global footprint is the backbone of its survival and growth. Founder Huang Hongsheng has openly acknowledged that China's domestic EV market is "brutally competitive—the most competitive industry out there." That's why Skyworth has chosen to open a second front overseas with a differentiated strategy. His vision: "to become the Transsion of the auto industry." Transsion Holdings conquered Africa's phone market through deep localisation, and Huang hopes Skyworth Auto can replicate that playbook in emerging auto markets.

Today, Skyworth Auto has a presence in 68 countries and regions, with over 30,000 channel stores and more than 200,000 users globally. Its overseas focus spans five regions (excluding the U.S.): Mexico and Canada in North America, South America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. The strategy hinges on "deep localisation"—a ten‑year strategic partnership with a Saudi royal‑backed company is already in place, with plans to build local KD plants to sidestep tariffs and speed up response times. For RHD markets, Skyworth has launched right‑hand drive models, entered Hong Kong, and completed adaptation filings for Southeast Asia.

The launch of the global model Skyworth Rock marks a major upgrade in Skyworth's overseas push. The chassis has been tuned for multiple global road conditions, and the centre console features an innovative left‑and‑right‑hand drive universal design, allowing a single mould to serve both LHD and RHD markets—cutting costs and boosting efficiency. On the regulatory front, Skyworth secured EU WVTA certification early, giving it a "passport" into developing countries that follow European standards. On the commercial vehicle side, the four electric models unveiled at the 2025 Brussels World Bus Expo target four European urban mobility scenarios, building a complete overseas product matrix of "large van, city bus, and minibus."

Future Outlook

At its 2025 Global Dealer Conference, Skyworth Auto laid out its "Double Speed Growth" strategy and made it clear: the brand is going global in a big way. For 2026, the focus is on upgrading its 1.5L and 1.5T hybrid powertrains to sharpen product appeal, and fast‑tracking the high‑end SUV Skyworth Rock to round out the lineup. The brand will keep leaning into AI smart cockpits, range performance, and other differentiators—sticking with its twin pillars: "health tech cockpit" and "smart mobility ecosystem."

Longer term, Skyworth is building on three self‑developed platforms—BE, CE, and AE—and plans to roll out seven model families and over 14 new products. The target: break into the global EV top tier by 2030. With new energy adoption climbing and demand for mid‑to‑high‑end EVs heating up in emerging markets, Skyworth aims to take its integrated PV‑storage‑charging‑mobility model overseas—making the shift from "made in China" to "made globally," and carving out a solid position in the next phase of the EV race.
