Seres 3

2026-05-21 08:40:02

The Seres 3 is a fully electric compact SUV launched by Seres.

Model Overview

The Seres 3 is positioned as a fully electric compact SUV. Within the Seres product lineup, this vehicle mainly undertakes the responsibility of penetrating market segments and expanding the share of low-threshold new energy vehicles overseas. Its core historical tag is one of the "pioneer models" of Seres' early globalization strategy. The main selling points of this series are concentrated on relatively affordable pricing, practical body dimensions, and relatively rich standardized configurations (such as 10.25-inch dual LCD screens, 360-degree panoramic imaging, panoramic sunroofs, etc.), mainly targeting young families or urban commuting groups.

Development History

The Seres 3 was born from the background of the fusion of Dongfeng Microcar R&D system and Seres new energy technology. Its technical lineage has a close association with the Dongfeng Fengon E3 Pure Electric version. Around 2020, with Seres Group (then known as DFSK Shares) accelerating new energy transformation and opening up international markets, this model was officially included in the SERES brand and renamed Seres 3.

In the subsequent evolution, this series, along with the Seres 5, constituted the two main core pillars of the brand's global expansion. Starting from 2021, the Seres 3 was mass-exported to developed European markets such as Germany, France, Italy, and Spain; during the period from 2023 to 2025, with the completion of the right-hand drive version development, the vehicle series further expanded to emerging economies such as Indonesia, Nepal, as well as Chile and Colombia in South America, achieving a grid-like coverage of global multi-regional markets.

Market Performance

The sales of the Seres 3 are basically completely focused on the overseas market. In China, since Seres tilts most of its production capacity and marketing resources towards the high-end intelligent mid-to-large SUV market, the Seres 3 is in a state of fading from the mainstream view. But in the international market, as of 2026, the Seres 3, relying on its highly competitive price advantage (after subsidies were added in some European markets, the terminal price even dropped to below 20,000 euros; also maintaining high cost-performance competitiveness in regions such as South America), became one of the main selected models for local consumers to access Chinese-made pure electric SUVs, steadily contributing to export sales.

Core Technology

Regarding body dimensions, the Seres 3 adopts a standard compact SUV architecture, with length, width, and height of 4385 mm, 1850 mm, 1650 mm respectively, wheelbase of 2655 mm, curb weight of 1765 kg, and trunk capacity of 318 L.

Regarding powertrain and battery technology:

Power Output: The series adopts a front-engine front-drive layout, equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM), with maximum power of 120 kW (approximately 163 horsepower), peak torque can output 300 Nm (particular specific overseas versions tuned to 195 Nm). Its official 0-100 km/h acceleration time is 8.9 seconds, top speed is electronically limited to 155 km/h.

Battery and Range: Equipped with a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack with a total capacity of 53.61 kWh (usable capacity approximately 52 kWh). Under WLTP comprehensive conditions, its range is between 301 km and 329 km (approximately 331 km under CLTC conditions), energy consumption per 100 km is approximately 18 kWh.

Charging Efficiency: Supports DC fast charging up to 60 kW, charging from 20% to 80% takes approximately 30 to 40 minutes; using 6.6 kW AC slow charging requires approximately 8 hours to fully charge.

The chassis suspension adopts a conventional combination of front MacPherson independent suspension and rear torsion beam non-independent suspension, providing three driving modes: Standard, Comfort, and Sport. In terms of safety configurations, some overseas high-spec models provide basic active safety assistance systems including Front Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Warning (LDW).

Future Plans

Facing 2026 and global compliance standards thereafter, the Seres 3 will welcome staged upgrades in technology and platform. Future plan highlights include introducing upgraded intelligent driving assistance components meeting the EU's latest safety regulations (GSR), and optimizing the three-electric thermal management system to improve range performance in low-temperature environments. At the same time, Seres is planning to develop a new generation of hairpin motors for this vehicle series, under the premise of maintaining entry-level positioning, further reducing energy consumption and optimizing comprehensive production costs, to cope with the increasingly fierce price competition in the global compact electric vehicle market.
