The SERES 9 is the flagship smart luxury SUV under SERES Group's AITO brand, badged as the AITO M9 in its domestic market and jointly developed by SERES and Huawei. Built on an all-new luxury D-segment platform, it offers both range-extender electric vehicle (REEV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) powertrains, having first debuted on 26 December 2023. On 27 May 2026, the next-generation AITO M9 was officially launched with immediate customer deliveries. As of May 2026, the line-up comprises three main variants—Max+, Ultra, and Ultimate—offering various BEV and REEV setups, with official retail prices spanning from RM479,800 to RM659,800. The 2026 model comes in 8 exterior colours, including Sayram Cyan, Desert Golden Brown, Vast Ocean Silver Blue, and Jinrui Red. Serving as the cornerstone of SERES' premiumisation strategy, the AITO M9 leverages a "tech luxury" approach to disrupt the RM500,000-and-above segment, long dominated by foreign legacy marques.
The AITO M9 introduces the brand's all-new "Kunpeng Wings" design language. Its sleek, commanding silhouette is distinguished by a full-width light bar, 2,400-lumen dual-million-pixel projection headlights, and ISD intelligent interactive tail lights that support colour laser projection along with customisable lighting animations. In standard wheelbase form, it measures 5,285 mm long, 2,026 mm wide, and 1,845 mm tall, with a 3,125 mm wheelbase; the extended Ultimate variant stretches to 5,402 mm in overall length with a 3,236 mm wheelbase. The SUV features 3.1-metre-long flush side windows, achieving a low drag coefficient of 0.264 Cd for the BEV version, refined further to 0.249 Cd on the 2026 model. Inside, the wraparound cockpit features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster alongside twin 17.2-inch 3.4K displays for central infotainment and front passenger entertainment. The cabin is trimmed in premium Nappa leather, microfibre suede, and brushed metal accents, alongside options such as a starlight headliner and genuine open-pore wood trim.
The next-generation AITO M9 debuts the HUAWEI DriveONE 800V high-voltage architecture, offering 1.5T and 2.0T range-extender options for the REEV alongside a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup for the BEV. The standard REEV pairs a 1.5T four-cylinder engine with dual electric motors, generating a combined output of approximately 365 kW; the flagship Ultimate variant upgrades to a 2.0T range extender paired with a tri-motor setup, delivering over 900 hp (664 kW) and achieving a 0-100 km/h century sprint in just 3.99 seconds. For energy storage, the REEV is fitted with 60 kWh or 75 kWh LFP/ternary lithium battery packs, delivering an all-electric range of up to 335 km (WLTC); meanwhile, the Ultra and Max+ trims pack a 120 kWh CATL ternary lithium battery, yielding up to 750 km of pure electric range (CLTC) and a total combined range of up to 1,405 km (CLTC). Thanks to its 800V platform, rapid DC charging juices the battery from 30% to 80% in only 15 minutes.
Underneath, the next-generation AITO M9 comes standard with the HUAWEI Tuling fully active intelligent chassis, comprising front double-wishbone and rear multi-link independent suspension crafted from lightweight aluminium alloy to reduce unsprung weight whilst boosting structural rigidity. Closed-loop dual-chamber air suspension and CDC dual-valve continuously adaptive dampers are standard across the range, offering ride height adjustments and real-time damping calibrations up to 100 times per second. Its road-preview system uses forward-facing sensors to identify terrain surfaces (slippery tarmac, snow, sand, rough off-road, wading), actively tuning suspension stiffness and damping in advance to curb pitch, body roll, and vertical vibrations. All models feature rear-wheel steering with up to ±8 degrees of articulation, reducing the turning radius to just 5.1 metres for effortless manoeuvrability and low-speed parking in tight urban spaces.
The next-generation AITO M9 runs the HarmonyOS Smart Mobility cockpit system, sporting twin 17.2-inch 3.4K displays, a 12.3-inch digital driver's display, and a dual-focal-plane AR-HUD. The voice assistant is powered by the Pangu AI Large Model, supporting 6-zone voiceprint recognition and multi-command, wake-up-free continuous conversation. In-car entertainment is headlined by a standard 32-inch laser projection screen supporting cinema-grade viewing, split-screen playback, and outdoor camping projection. Audio is catered for by two setups: a standard 39-speaker, 2,920W sound system, or an upgraded 43-speaker, 9.5.8-channel spatial audio system on the Ultimate edition featuring a 720° acoustic soundstage and dedicated 4-seat, 16-speaker independent audio zones. The cabin also incorporates the Harmony ALPS Health Cockpit 3.0 with active oxygen generation and comprehensive air purification. Seating comes in the form of standard Shuyun zero-gravity seats with ventilation, heating, and multi-point pneumatic massage across all rows, while the six-seater's second-row seats feature 180° swivelling and stepless sliding tracks to create a 1.7-metre face-to-face lounge area.
Driving assistance is managed by the HUAWEI Qiankun ADS 5.0 suite. Hardware comprises 6 LiDAR units (including a forward 896-line primary LiDAR), 5 4D millimetre-wave radars, 12 HD cameras, and 16 ultrasonic sensors—totalling 40 ADAS sensors for complete 360-degree perimeter coverage. Running the WEWA 2.0 machine learning architecture with multi-agent interaction and continuous reinforcement learning, model training efficiency is boosted tenfold; it generates real-time risk heat maps, cutting overall collision risk by up to 50% according to manufacturer data. Passive safety is anchored by the Xuanwu Body Architecture 2.0, with high-strength steel and aluminium alloys making up 91% of the body structure, alongside up to 13 airbags. Furthermore, comprehensive 8-fold system redundancy (sensing, computing, braking, steering, etc.) provides the necessary hardware foundation for Level 3 autonomous driving readiness.
Since its introduction, the AITO M9 has consistently led the Chinese premium large SUV segment. By the launch of the new-generation model in May 2026, cumulative deliveries of the M9 range had surpassed 285,000 units, setting a new delivery benchmark for vehicles priced above RM500,000. Within the first hour of order books opening, the next-gen model secured over 11,000 firm bookings, reflecting strong market demand for the updated flagship. For the first three quarters of 2025, SERES posted an operating revenue of RM110,534,000,000, with net profit attributable to equity holders rising by 31.56% year-on-year, driven largely by robust demand for its high-end portfolio. Motoring media and industry analysts note that with its full-stack intelligence, potent electrified performance, and executive-class cabin, the AITO M9 has redefined the luxury benchmark for domestic SUVs while successfully challenging the dominance of traditional foreign luxury brands in this class.
