Seres 5 EV (commonly known as SERES 5 or SERES A5 in overseas markets, formerly known as Seres SF5 Pure Electric Edition in China) is a mid-size sporty pure electric SUV independently developed by Seres. This vehicle series is a core strategic model for the Seres brand's global expansion, targeting high-income new energy vehicle markets in many countries worldwide.

Seres 5 EV is positioned as a pure electric mid-size coupe SUV. As an early passenger vehicle carrier for Seres' core in-house research and development technology, this vehicle series has undergone a historical stage in the domestic market evolving from independent sales to joint collaboration with Huawei, subsequently shifting strategically to deepen cultivation of the overseas high-end market. Main selling points of this vehicle series include an aluminum alloy chassis architecture with double wishbone front suspension and multi-link rear suspension, as well as high power output performance supporting dual-motor four-wheel drive. Additionally, the vehicle features a highly recognizable "Sigma" (Σ) LED daytime running light design and a panoramic glass roof, focusing on a smart digital cockpit and sporty driving feel.
The Seres 5 EV can be traced back to the early stages of Seres' overseas expansion when establishing R&D centers in Silicon Valley. In 2018, its prototype concept car SF5 debuted globally for the first time; at Auto Guangzhou 2019, the mass-produced pure electric and extended-range models were officially released. In 2021, as Seres and Huawei began deep cooperation, subsequent technical achievements of this vehicle series gradually transformed into derivative models such as AITO M5, while the pure electric version in the domestic Chinese market gradually shifted to low-frequency updates and customized production.
While adjusting domestic business, this vehicle series opened an independent evolutionary path in overseas markets. In January 2023, Seres unveiled the all-new improved SERES 5 EV at the Brussels Motor Show, formally entering the European high-end new energy vehicle market, and subsequently established sales networks in many overseas countries and regions such as Norway, Germany, Netherlands, UAE, and Southeast Asia.
Seres 5 EV shows a clear differentiation trend in domestic and overseas markets. In the Chinese market, due to the brand strategy focus shifting entirely towards the Wenjie series, the monthly sales of Seres 5 EV have dropped to double digits, mainly serving as the foundation support for the brand's in-house pure electric technology. However, in overseas markets, this vehicle series shows certain export vitality. As of 2026, the export unit price of Seres 5 EV in the European market generally falls into the mid-to-high-end price range (approximately €50,000 to €70,000). Relying on high cost-performance ratio and chassis parameters, it achieved steady deliveries in European countries with high new energy vehicle adoption rates like Norway, as well as in right-hand drive markets in the Middle East and parts of Asia, helping Seres achieve new energy vehicle delivery breakthroughs of over 470,000 vehicles in 2025, and cumulative sales exceeding 110,000 vehicles in January-April 2026, contributing to global overall market growth.
Regarding body dimensions, Seres 5 EV has a length, width, and height of 4710 mm, 1930 mm, and 1620 mm respectively, with a wheelbase of 2875 mm.
In terms of powertrain and battery configuration, the vehicle series mainly offers two drive versions:
Two-wheel drive standard version: Equipped with a rear-mounted single permanent magnet synchronous motor, maximum power between 220 kW and 225 kW (approx. 300 hp), paired with an 80 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack provided by CATL, with a WLTP range of approximately 500 km.
Four-wheel drive high-performance version: Adopting a dual-motor layout with a front induction asynchronous motor and a rear permanent magnet synchronous motor, the system's combined maximum power can reach 430 kW (585 hp), combined torque up to 940 Nm, with an official 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4 seconds (some high-spec flagship versions can reach 3.7 seconds). This version is typically equipped with a 90 kWh Ternary Lithium battery pack, with a WLTP range of around 483 km to 530 km.
The vehicle chassis adopts a high-cost suspension structure; front suspension is a four-ball joint double wishbone independent suspension, rear suspension is a trapezoidal arm multi-link independent suspension, and extensive use of aluminum alloy materials is applied to reduce unsprung mass. Regarding safety technology, the body uses over 60% high-strength steel and 19% hot-formed steel, and overseas versions are equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) compliant with mainstream markets, containing 9 active safety functions including Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSD), etc.
With the advancement of Seres' global strategy, Seres 5 EV will continue to serve as a backbone force in the overseas passenger vehicle front. In the next two to three years, Seres plans to further optimize the vehicle series' smart cockpit overseas localization adaptation (such as deeply integrating the latest versions of Android Auto and Apple CarPlay), expand right-hand drive versions and models meeting the EU's latest safety regulations (GSR). At the same time, the R&D platform where this vehicle series is located will gradually iterate towards a brand new intelligent pure electric platform to support more efficient 800V high-voltage fast charging technology and new generation high energy density batteries, ensuring its technical competitiveness in the international mid-size pure electric SUV market.
