Rolls-Royce Ghost

2026-10-08 15:40:00

Model Overview

The Rolls-Royce Ghost is an ultra-luxury four-door saloon from Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, positioned between the flagship Phantom and the now-discontinued Wraith/Dawn. The "Ghost" nameplate traces its origins back to the iconic 1907 40/50HP model, famously dubbed the "Silver Ghost". The first-generation Ghost debuted in 2010, followed by the second-generation model in 2020. In October 2024, Rolls-Royce unveiled its mid-cycle facelift—the Ghost Series II. As of June 2026, the 2025 Ghost Series II on sale locally is offered in standard wheelbase and extended wheelbase (Ghost Extended) variants, with official retail prices ranging between RM5,030,000 and RM5,770,000. For comparison, the US market starts at around USD 355,000.

Design Language

The Ghost Series II adheres to the "Post Opulence" design philosophy, championing understated yet uncompromised luxury. Up front, the signature Pantheon grille has been subtly restyled for a cleaner, more contemporary look, illuminated by 20 integrated LED modules that cast a subtle glow. The revised headlamp clusters feature a sharper polygonal design paired with slimmer integrated LED daytime running lights. The side profile maintains clean, unbroken shoulder lines running from front to rear; the rear end takes cues from the all-electric Spectre, sporting vertical LED tail lamps with twin illuminated light blades on each side. The saloon retains classic Rolls-Royce hallmarks, including rear-hinged coach doors, the retractable "Spirit of Ecstasy" bonnet mascot, and the signature "Starlight" headliner.

In terms of exterior dimensions, the standard wheelbase version measures 5399×1948×1550mm (L×W×H) with a 3295mm wheelbase, while the Ghost Extended adds 170mm between the axles to reach 3465mm. Kerb weight ranges from approximately 2522kg to 2530kg. Inside, the 2025 Series II introduces Grey Stained Ash open-pore wood and Duality Twill bamboo-derived fabric trims, alongside a passenger-side Bespoke Illuminated Fascia featuring 850 individual "stars" framing the illuminated "GHOST" script.

Powertrain & Performance

Under the bonnet, the Ghost is driven by Rolls-Royce's signature 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 engine. It produces 571 hp (around 420kW) and a peak torque of 850Nm, paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox. The standard wheelbase model completes the 0-100km/h sprint in 4.8 seconds, with top speed electronically capped at 250km/h. Combined fuel consumption on the WLTC cycle is rated at roughly 13.8L/100km, fed by an 83-litre fuel tank. The performance-focused Black Badge variant, introduced in 2021, delivers higher outputs and rides on exclusive 21-inch composite wheels.

Chassis & Handling

The Ghost is underpinned by Rolls-Royce’s proprietary all-aluminium "Architecture of Luxury", boasting a 30% increase in torsional rigidity over its predecessor. Although co-developed with the BMW 7 Series platform architecture, shared components account for only around 20%. Adaptive air suspension comes standard, with the 2025 Series II benefiting from upgraded Planar air suspension software and hardware calibration. Power is delivered via a permanent all-wheel-drive system, complemented by standard all-wheel steering across the range to noticeably improve agility in tight urban environments. Stopping power is handled by ventilated disc brakes on all four corners.

Cabin & Features

Inside the cabin, the Ghost features a four-door, five-seater configuration (with an executive four-seat layout optional on the Ghost Extended). Seats are trimmed in ultra-premium full-aniline leather. On the audio front, the 2025 Series II upgrades to an 18-speaker Bespoke Audio system delivering up to 1400W of output. The iconic "Starlight" headliner remains available as an option. The Extended model further adds rear airline-style executive lounge seats and an integrated champagne cooler. Boot capacity is rated at 507 litres. The infotainment suite supports full 5G connectivity and advanced connected-car telematics.

Safety & Driver Assistance

On the safety front, the Ghost comes equipped with a comprehensive airbag suite and electronic stability control (ESC). Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) include adaptive cruise control (ACC), autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane keeping assist (LKA), and more. A 360-degree surround-view camera and automated parking assist further elevate day-to-day driving convenience.

Market Performance & Outlook

Since its inaugural debut in 2009, the Ghost has consistently served as one of Rolls-Royce's primary sales pillars. In 2025, global Ghost deliveries reached 993 units—a year-on-year growth of 22.9%—placing it third in the brand’s global lineup behind the Cullinan (3,291 units) and Spectre (1,002 units). In China, however, rising competition from domestic high-end new energy vehicle (NEV) marques contributed to a noticeable sales slowdown, with only 129 units delivered between January and November 2025. In its home market context, the Ghost acts as the marque’s volume anchor courtesy of its relatively accessible entry price point (starting from RM5,030,000). Amid the sweeping shift toward electrification, the Ghost's steadfast dedication to the pure V12 engine runs parallel with the all-electric Spectre, anchoring Rolls-Royce’s twin-track ICE and EV product strategy.
