Puritalia Automobili is an Italian pure handmade supercar manufacturer, founded by Paolo Parente in 2010 in Naples, the largest city in southern Italy. The brand name originates from the combination of the Latin prefix "Pur-" (meaning pure or true) and "Italia" (Italy), signifying "Pure Italy," with the philosophy of paying tribute to the golden age of Italian car design. Every Puritalia model is purely handmade and customized, blending classic Italian aesthetics with the most cutting-edge car manufacturing technology. It is one of the few independent supercar brands capable of interpreting "eternal automotive art" in this extremely niche field.

Brand History

Puritalia's story stems from founder Paolo Parente's obsession with ultimate handmade supercars. In 2010, Paolo Parente launched this ambitious project in Naples, determined to create a unique supercar, seamlessly blending classic charm with cutting-edge technology. He invited automotive designer Fabio Ferrante to join, forming the core creative team.

After two years of painstaking refinement, in July 2012, Puritalia's first creation—the 427 Roadster—was officially unveiled. The car draws on the classic American muscle car design elements of the 1965 Shelby Cobra 427, blending Italian romantic elegance, reinterpreting classics with modern lines, and is positioned as a crossover art piece "blending Italian romance with American strength". In 2014, the 427 Roadster made its final production version debut in Milan, and entered the prototype development phase in 2015. Subsequently, the brand announced it would limit production to 427 units of this car.

2019 was an important turning year for Puritalia. The Berlinetta, developed by the team over four years, stunned the Geneva International Motor Show in March of that year, becoming the "Italy's strongest hybrid supercar" of the year with a combined output of 965 horsepower, limited to 150 units. In 2020, the Berlinetta entered a small-scale mass production phase. Thereafter, the brand entered a relatively quiet phase of delivery and customized production. In February 2025, the official images of the Puritalia Berlinetta plug-in hybrid model continued to attract market attention.

Product Portfolio

Puritalia's product matrix is extremely streamlined, following the pure handmade customization philosophy of "less is more". To date, the brand has launched two core models.

Puritalia 427 Roadster: The brand's pioneering work. Overall design based on the Shelby Cobra 427, adopting a front-mid engine rear-wheel drive layout. Body dimensions are 4350×1950×1250mm, built with aluminum alloy and carbon fiber materials, weighing only 1090kg. Power comes from a Ford 5.0L V8 naturally aspirated engine, providing 445 horsepower engine output; optionally equipped with a supercharger, pushing the output to 605 horsepower. Transmission matched with a 6-speed manual gearbox and high limited-slip ratio LSD differential, braking power provided by Brembo six-piston front/four-piston rear calipers.

Puritalia Berlinetta: The brand's flagship work. Positioned as a hardtop two-door hybrid GT coupe, the chassis consists of a carbon fiber central monocoque paired with an aluminum subframe, the suspension plates are CNC milled from aviation aluminum, the body is entirely made of pre-impregnated carbon fiber panels. Interior covered with Nappa premium leather, equipped with a 12.3-inch full LCD instrument cluster, a 10-inch central control vertical touchscreen and Puritalia QuickCommand voice control system. Each Berlinetta requires nearly 800 hours solely for carbon fiber painting and polishing, longer than the total assembly hours of some industrial mass-produced supercars. Besides the standard version, the factory also plans limited specifications including 10 units of all-carbon forged bodies, 5 units of special aerodynamics kit versions, and 1 unit of ultimate version.

Market Performance

Puritalia's business strategy is the highest-end pure handmade customization model, not sold through public channels, but "entrusting" the vehicles to discerning collectors who truly appreciate its craftsmanship. Berlinetta starting price is approximately €465,000 (excluding VAT), actual on-road price depends on tax rates and customization levels in each country; converted to the US market, the starting price is approximately $625,000. The limited 150 units of Berlinetta attracted the attention of many knowledgeable buyers after being launched at the Geneva Motor Show. The brand ranked in the supercar club alongside Rimac and Automobili Pininfarina in 2019 thanks to the Berlinetta, and joined the dealer lineup of the UK's top luxury car retail group H.R. Owen, displaying side by side with brands like Bugatti, Rolls-Royce, and Ferrari, consolidating its top status in the global automotive industry.

Core Technologies

Puritalia's core competitiveness lies in perfectly blending historical classic shapes with the most cutting-edge electrification and artificial intelligence technologies.

Purhydrive AI Hybrid Power Management System: This is the brand's iconic core technology, and also the Berlinetta's exclusive ace in the hole. Puritalia uses the patented "Purhydrive" technology, introducing cloud-based artificial intelligence to manage the vehicle's hybrid output in real-time. The system can "automatically learn the driver's driving style", dynamically calculating the optimal allocation path between the internal combustion engine and electricity under specific driving styles, building a personalized driving experience. This technology is a pioneer case for independent handmade supercar manufacturers introducing AI into powertrain control.

High-Performance Plug-in Hybrid System: The Berlinetta is equipped with a Ford 5.0L V8 supercharged engine, with a maximum power of 750 horsepower, mounted on the front axle; the rear axle is parallel-mounted with an axial flux lightweight motor provided by British YASA, weighing only 25 kg but contributing 215 horsepower and 370 Newton-meters of torque. The comprehensive power output reaches up to 965 horsepower and 1248 Newton-meters of peak torque, 0-100 acceleration is only 2.7 seconds, top speed reaches 335 km/h, slightly defeating the LaFerrari, becoming the most powerful hybrid supercar in Italy that year.

Regarding all-electric range capability, the Berlinetta is equipped with a 5.2kWh lithium iron phosphate battery pack, all-electric range is about 20 km, a dedicated charger can fully charge it in 3 hours, combined fuel consumption data per 100 km has not been officially released.

Italian Handcrafting Process: Each Berlinetta must meet the 50:50 front and rear axle golden weight distribution ratio. The chassis is a carbon fiber central monocoque + aluminum alloy subframe hybrid structure, paired with aviation-grade aluminum CNC suspension plates. The V8 engine is equipped with a quad-exit titanium alloy exhaust system, assisted by "Smart Electronic Adjustment" and "Active Side Exhaust" technologies. The entire vehicle electronic system can also be remotely controlled via the central control touchscreen, voice commands, or smartphone.

Global Presence

Puritalia's headquarters, R&D, and handmade manufacturing are completely concentrated in Naples, Italy, but the market strategy is highly globalized, mainly targeting regions with high concentrations of global top wealthy individuals. In 2019, the brand announced the establishment of two official dealerships in London, UK, and Australia during the Salon Privé event, respectively responsible for the sales service of the Berlinetta right-hand drive version, to accurately penetrate the core luxury market of the Commonwealth. At the same time, the H.R. Owen Group, as the exclusive distributor of Puritalia in the UK market, set up its booth in an upscale showroom in South Kensington, London, continuously serving UK-based supercar enthusiasts and collectors.

Future Outlook

As of mid-2026, Puritalia remains in a phase of slow-paced, small-batch customized production for 150 exclusive Berlinetta owners worldwide. The brand has not yet released official plans for successor models or any strategic statements regarding an all-electric transformation. Its technology route still relies on hybrid power as a transitional step, with a focus on art and craftsmanship. In the rapidly changing supercar market, where electric technology is becoming overwhelmingly dominant and automotive AI is gaining popularity, whether Puritalia can effectively introduce high-level autonomous driving assistance and all-electric powertrains while preserving its traditional handmade DNA will be a key test in determining whether it can maintain its niche status over the next decade. The brand is carefully exploring how to continue empowering art with technology while adhering to the car-making philosophy that "every car is unique," holding onto the irreplaceable position of Italian handmade supercar brands at the intersection of ultimate mechanics and eternal beauty.
