Brand Overview

POCCO is a pure electric passenger car brand under the Yujie Automobile Group, established in 2018 and headquartered in Mengzhou City, Jiaozuo, Henan Province. The brand belongs to Jiangsu Yujie Times Automobile Co., Ltd., whose wholly owned holding entity is Hebei Yujie Times. POCCO is committed to being the "leader of small multi-functional electric passenger cars," with the values of "Ideas Change the World, Quality Builds the Future," targeting young consumers with personality who are willing to express themselves.

Development History

POCCO's parent company, Yujie Vehicles, started with low-speed electric vehicles, later transitioning to high-speed new energy passenger cars. In 2020, the POCCO brand was officially launched. In March 2021, the first model 'POCCO Meimei' (originally called 'POCCO MINI EV') was launched; In May, the second model 'POCCO Duoduo' came off the production line; Originally planned to launch the third model 'POCCO LaLa' in 2022, but failed to launch as scheduled. In May 2022, the company temporarily halted production due to the pandemic, funding issues, etc..

Afterwards, the brand underwent two changes in capital ownership: In September 2022, Morning Star Auto fully acquired Henan Yujie Times, becoming the holding party of POCCO; In the same month, US-listed company Kaixin Auto announced the acquisition of Morning Star Auto, planning to include POCCO under its wing. However, the subsequent progress of this acquisition is unclear. As of 2026, POCCO's complete vehicle business is in a state of de facto stagnation.

Product Portfolio

POCCO planned a "Mei Duo La" three-product matrix, as follows:

POCCO Meimei: POCCO's first model, originally called the "POCCO MINI EV," launched in March 2021. It is positioned as a 3-door, 2-seater micro pure electric vehicle, with a guide price of 29,800 to 46,800 RMB. Body dimensions are 3025×1500×1515 mm, with a trunk volume of 766 L. It offers range versions of 170 km and 120 km, with motor power of 10 kW or 15 kW, equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery.

POCCO Duoduo: Launched in September 2021, with a guide price of 26,800 to 39,800 RMB. It is positioned as a 5-door, 4-seat "leisure multi-purpose" vehicle, with body dimensions of 3310×1500×1588 mm. It is equipped with a 29 kW permanent magnet synchronous motor, producing peak torque of 110 N·m, with an NEDC range of 128 to 178 km.

POCCO LaLa: Originally planned for launch in the second quarter of 2022. The 2022 model briefly appeared but was not mass-produced and is currently discontinued.

Market Performance

POCCO's brief highlight moment appeared in 2021. After the "POCCO Meimei" was launched, it achieved a monthly sales record of 3,658 vehicles in June 2021, and total brand sales reached 31,768 vehicles from January to November 2021. However, entering 2022, sales declined rapidly. In March, total brand sales were only 2,569 vehicles, and by July and August, the brand no longer appeared on sales rankings. According to dealer statistics, the manufacturer owed dealers approximately 3,000 vehicles, involving an amount of about 100 million RMB. As of 2026, the POCCO Meimei and POCCO Duoduo have been discontinued.

Core Technology

POCCO inherited the new energy technology foundation of the Yujie system. The power system adopts a permanent magnet synchronous motor + Lithium Iron Phosphate battery solution, equipped with BMS intelligent battery management system. Meimei offers two motor powers (10kW/15kW), Duoduo equipped with 29kW motor, battery capacity covers 9.2 - 14.5kWh, range 116 - 178km. Parent company Yujie Vehicles has cumulatively obtained 69 patents, covering power drive systems, suspension systems, and lightweight design fields. However, overall, POCCO's battery, motor, and electronics technology remains at the basic level evolved from low-speed electric vehicles, lacking core differentiated advantages in the A00 class market competition.

Global Presence

As of 2026, POCCO has no substantial overseas complete vehicle export or production base layout. When Kaixin Auto acquired Morning Star Auto in 2022, it stated it would promote EV export business relying on POCCO brand, planning exports to Southeast Asia, Middle East and European markets. However, this cross-border strategic plan was not implemented subsequently.

Future Outlook

In August 2022, Henan Mengzhou promoted Yujie Automobile to resume work and production; In September of the same year, after Morning Star Auto fully acquired, a resume work and production launch meeting was held. However, the above efforts did not reverse the decline. As of 2026, POCCO's complete vehicle business is in a state of de facto shutdown. From high-profile launch to sales peak to dismal production halt, the brand only experienced a cycle of about two years, a typical case of low-speed electric vehicle enterprises encountering obstacles in transforming into formal passenger cars. Whether the brand can restart in the future depends on whether Kaixin Auto's acquisition case can proceed, and whether there are new strategic capital injections to empower.
