Model Overview

The Nissan Navara is a global mid-size pick-up truck from Japanese automaker Nissan. Since its debut in 1986, it has accumulated global sales of around 500,000 units. In the Chinese market, the Navara is manufactured and marketed by Zhengzhou Nissan. On 26 March 2026, the all-new Navara was officially launched in Xishuangbanna, China. Positioned as an "all-scenario global comfort pick-up", official prices start from RM150,900. The all-new Navara is offered with both petrol and diesel powertrain options, alongside the simultaneously launched Z9 Mountain Edition based on the model.
Design Language
The all-new Navara has undergone a notable exterior redesign. Up front, it carries over Nissan's signature V-motion design language, paired with a "Titan Shield" radiator grille and Stanley matrix LED headlamps and taillight clusters. The newly sculpted bonnet features bolder character lines, complemented by Nissan's updated emblem. While retaining its rugged pick-up stance, the overall styling gains a noticeable boost in refinement and high-tech appeal.
Along the sides, muscular body lines and flared wheel arches accentuate its rugged presence. At the rear, it sports 3D-effect taillights alongside a body-coloured rear bumper. In addition, bespoke trim accents feature across the air intakes and emblems to reinforce its distinctive identity.
Inside, the cabin takes a utilitarian core and elevates it with substantial passenger-car refinement and advanced tech. The headline update is a 10.25-inch high-definition smart infotainment touchscreen, effectively shedding the traditional "workhorse-only" pick-up stigma. The cabin also gains a redesigned three-spoke steering wheel, a leatherette dashboard with contrast stitching, and an electronic shift-by-wire gear lever for a sleeker, more upmarket feel. Tactile physical buttons and rotary dials remain for crucial functions like climate control and 4WD modes, allowing intuitive blind operation even when tackling challenging terrain.
Powertrain and Performance
The all-new Navara is offered with a choice of two powertrains:
Petrol Version: Powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, delivering a maximum power output of 168 kW and a peak torque of 360 Nm.
Diesel Version: Powered by an M9T 2.3-litre turbodiesel engine, delivering a maximum power output of 122 kW (166 PS) and a peak torque of 420 Nm. Sourced from the Renault-Nissan Alliance, this powerplant boasts proven engineering. The diesel version is paired with either a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission (8AT) or a 6-speed manual transmission (6MT), returning a WLTC combined fuel consumption of 8.3 L/100 km.
In overseas markets, the next-generation Navara is powered by a punchier 2.4-litre bi-turbo diesel engine, delivering 150 kW (204 PS) and 470 Nm of peak torque.
Chassis and Handling
The all-new Navara rides on a signature ladder-frame chassis (non-monocoque structure). The suspension setup pairs front double wishbone independent suspension with a rear leaf spring non-independent setup. The vehicle offers two rear suspension configurations—leaf springs and five-link coil springs—striking a balance between heavy-duty payload capacity and ride comfort.
For traction, the truck features a part-time 4WD system with 2WD (2H), 4WD High (4H), and 4WD Low (4L) modes, with 4L mode offering a 2.5x torque multiplication. Higher-spec variants can be optioned with front and rear axle differential locks.
The overseas-spec all-new Navara steps up with more advanced hardware. Built on a shared platform with the Mitsubishi Triton, it swaps traditional hydraulic power steering for an electric power steering (EPS) system. Higher-spec trims are equipped with the Super 4WD full-time four-wheel drive system, a Torsen limited-slip differential, and up to seven terrain modes.
Cabin and Equipment
In terms of creature comforts, the all-new Navara matches modern passenger cars. The cabin comes equipped with PVC zero-gravity power-adjustable seats, while higher-spec variants add a wireless smartphone charger. The connected vehicle telematics system comes standard across the entire range.
Overseas models come standard with a 7-inch colour multi-info display and a 9-inch infotainment touchscreen, supporting wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity.
Safety and Intelligent Driving
Safety is a primary highlight of the all-new Navara's updates. The vehicle features Nissan's ZONE BODY construction with a fully boxed "O"-shaped ladder frame. On the active safety front, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) comes standard across the range, alongside a 540° panoramic view monitor.
In terms of driver assistance, the vehicle is equipped with a Level 2 semi-autonomous ADAS suite, incorporating autonomous emergency braking (AEB), lane keep assist (LKA), and adaptive cruise control (ACC) to significantly reduce long-distance driver fatigue. Overseas models go a step further with 8 airbags standard across the range. Zhengzhou Nissan states that the all-new Navara underwent 40,000 rigorous validation tests and logged over one million kilometres in durability testing to ensure extreme-condition reliability.
Market Performance and Reception
The Navara is manufactured locally by Zhengzhou Nissan for the Chinese market. Following its March 2026 debut, the new model provided a strong boost to Zhengzhou Nissan's sales volume. In May 2026, Zhengzhou Nissan recorded monthly sales of 7,029 units, representing a year-on-year surge of 51.8%; cumulative sales from January to May reached 26,423 units, up 50.1% year-on-year. In Australia, 946 units of the Navara 4x4 and 102 units of the 4x2 were delivered in March 2026.
The all-new Navara goes toe-to-toe with mainstream mid-size pick-up rivals such as the Toyota Hilux, Ford Ranger, and GWM Poer. Industry analysis highlights that the Navara's core competitive edges lie in its global build quality, robust low-end torque output, sturdy chassis, and comprehensively upgraded smart and safety features.
