Model Overview

The Maserati MCPURA is an all-new mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive supercar from Italian luxury marque Maserati, and a performance masterpiece that made its global debut at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed. As an evolution of the iconic MC20 first introduced in 2020, the moniker "MCPURA" takes inspiration from Einstein's theory of relativity, channeling the dynamic tension of "E = MCPURA" to signify boundless energy and encapsulate the Trident brand’s core pillars: "pure energy, pure elegance, and pure performance".
The MCPURA is offered simultaneously in Coupe and Convertible (Cielo) variants. The new supercar is hand-built at Maserati's historic headquarters in Modena, Italy—with the entire production process completed on-site, from the assembly of the "Nettuno" engine and component fabrication to bespoke personalisation at the Officine Fuoriserie centre. The year 2026 also coincides with Maserati's "Year of the Trident". Globally, the MCPURA's primary competitors include mid-engine V6 and V8 supercars such as the Ferrari 296 GTB, the Lamborghini Temerario (the Huracán's successor), and the McLaren Artura.
Design Language
Aesthetically, the MCPURA retains the general silhouette of the MC20, refined with sharper and more aggressive detailing. The front fascia adopts a more aerodynamic profile influenced by the GT2 race car, further lowering both the centre of gravity and drag coefficient. The monocoque chassis is engineered entirely from carbon fibre and composite materials. Along the flanks, it retains the classic proportions of a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, complemented by elegant new alloy wheel designs. At the rear, an assertive diffuser, centrally mounted exhaust tailpipes, and rear engine-cover cooling vents underline its formidable performance potential.
The MCPURA debuts in an exclusive launch shade dubbed "AI Aqua Rainbow"—inspired by the refraction of light through a prism, producing subtle iridescent colour shifts under direct sunlight. Additional new exterior paint options include Magic Orange and Dynamic Black. Through the Maserati Fuoriserie bespoke programme, buyers can choose from over 30 exterior body finishes.
Inside the cabin, the MCPURA features a newly designed flat-top steering wheel to deliver better forward visibility and steering precision at high speeds. Buyers can specify finishes in either Alcantara or carbon fibre. Premium Alcantara also replaces traditional leather on the dashboard and upper door trims. The thoroughly upgraded cockpit further amplifies the intuitive connection between driver and car.
Power and Performance
Under the rear deck, the MCPURA is powered by Maserati's in-house developed 3.0-litre "Nettuno" twin-turbo V6 engine. This powerplant incorporates patented pre-chamber twin-spark technology derived directly from Formula 1. It puts out a maximum power of 630 hp and a peak torque of 720–730 Nm, with peak power arriving at 7,500 rpm. This achieves a class-leading power-to-weight ratio of 2.33 kg/hp. Power is sent to the rear wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) in a mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration.
The open-top MCPURA Cielo comes equipped with a retractable electrochromic glass roof that opens or closes in mere seconds, featuring rapid opacity adjustment at the touch of a button.
Chassis and Handling
The chassis forms the backbone of the MCPURA's exceptional dynamic handling. Built around an ultra-rigid carbon-fibre monocoque tub, it achieves a fine balance between structural stiffness and lightweight construction, keeping overall kerb weight under 1,500 kg. The structural subframes and suspension mounting points are crafted from aerospace-grade materials. The suspension setup has also undergone fine-tuning and geometry optimisation over the MC20. The MCPURA retains signature butterfly doors, while the convertible Cielo variant comes with the retractable electrochromic glass roof.
Cabin and Features
The MCPURA features a focused two-seater cabin layout. Interior appointments include a full digital instrument cluster and a central infotainment touchscreen. For in-car entertainment, a premium high-end audio system is available as an option. Comfort amenities include dual-zone automatic climate control and more. Extensive bespoke customisation is offered through the Fuoriserie programme, covering personalised exterior and interior colours, trims, and upholstery materials.
Safety and Driver Assistance
In terms of safety, the carbon-fibre monocoque tub provides outstanding passive crash protection and structural rigidity. On the active safety and driver assistance front, the car comes standard with essential driving aids, including a reverse camera and front and rear parking sensors.
Market Performance and Reception
Since its world premiere at the 2025 Goodwood Festival of Speed, the MCPURA has garnered significant attention across international markets. On 1 April 2026, the MCPURA made its official China debut at Casa Maserati in Guangzhou. As an evolution of the MC20, the MCPURA preserves the MC20's classic bloodline while incorporating styling cues from the GT2 Stradale. The launch of the MCPURA signifies Maserati’s commitment to "returning to where the brand belongs: standing at the pinnacle and returning to the roots that forged the brand". However, the Maserati marque continues to navigate notable headwinds—with global deliveries in 2025 falling to 7,900 units, a 30% year-on-year decline and its lowest volume since 2012. Against this backdrop, as the Trident brand's latest flagship performance icon, the MCPURA shoulders the crucial mission of revitalising Maserati's brand stature in the elite supercar arena.
