The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque is a premium mid-size luxury SUV from Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) Land Rover stable. Having made its global debut in 2011, it was introduced as the fourth member of the Range Rover family. The Evoque is Land Rover's first model built on the all-new Premium Transverse Architecture (PTA), pioneering the luxury compact SUV segment with its avant-garde design. In China, local assembly was undertaken by Chery Jaguar Land Rover, which also introduced the market-specific long-wheelbase "Evoque L". The model currently on sale is the 2026 model year facelift.

Positioned as a mid-size luxury SUV, the Evoque highlights bespoke British design, a refined luxury cabin, and Land Rover's hereditary all-terrain capability, earning it the affectionate moniker "Baby Range Rover" among enthusiasts. The 2026 lineup is available in two variants—SE and HSE—with official retail prices pegged at RM429,800 and RM475,800 respectively. Configured as a five-seater, the vehicle measures 4,531 mm in length, 1,904 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height, with a 2,841 mm wheelbase.
On the exterior, the Evoque carries over the Range Rover family's signature design philosophy. The front fascia features a bold front grille with the iconic "RANGE ROVER" bonnet script above, flanked by Pixel LED matrix headlights to create a commanding visual presence. The side profile remains the Evoque's most recognisable angle—flush deployable door handles blend seamlessly with blacked-out B-, C-, and D-pillars to deliver a sleek floating roof effect. At the rear, the slim tail lights mirror the front lighting signature, while the rear apron incorporates a concealed exhaust layout paired with diffuser-style elements for an athletic stance. For 2026, five complimentary exterior colours are available: Fuji White, Santorini Black, Borasco Grey, Belgravia Green, and Varese Blue.
Inside, the Evoque retains a distinctive British luxury ambiance. The symmetrical dashboard layout is equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.4-inch curved floating central infotainment display. The seats feature a fresh diamond-quilted, perforated motif, with an optional two-tone steering wheel accented by satin chrome trim along the seams. The range-topping HSE variant further adds an extended Windsor leather interior pack, elevating overall cabin plushness.
Under the bonnet, the 2026 Evoque is powered across the range by a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine (code PT204) paired with a 48V mild-hybrid (MHEV) system. The engine outputs 183 kW (249 PS) and a peak torque of 365 Nm, with peak torque delivered across a broad rev band of 1,300 to 4,500 rpm. Power is transferred via a 9-speed automatic transmission. The 0-100 km/h century sprint is completed in 8.2 seconds, with a top speed of 229 km/h. In addition, the lineup offers a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant, which combines a 1.5-litre three-cylinder turbocharged engine with an electric motor for a total system output of 227 kW.
The Evoque is built on a rigid monocoque chassis structure. The suspension setup consists of front MacPherson struts and a rear multi-link independent suspension. All-wheel drive (AWD) is standard across the range. Sourced from GKN, the driveline features a Power Transfer Unit (PTU) capable of disconnecting rear-wheel drive to optimise efficiency, alongside a multi-plate clutch differential.
In terms of off-road prowess, the Evoque comes equipped with Land Rover's renowned Terrain Response® 2 system, complemented by dedicated off-road driving aids such as All-Terrain Progress Control (ATPC), Hill Descent Control (HDC), and Torque Vectoring by Braking (TVBB). The vehicle offers a minimum ground clearance of 179 mm and a maximum wading depth of up to 600 mm. The top-spec HSE trim also includes Wade Sensing technology.
In terms of in-car technology, the 2026 model receives the updated InControl OS 2.0 infotainment system powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon SA8155P processor, delivering a noticeably smoother user experience. The newly integrated e+ connected suite allows seamless connectivity with third-party applications such as WeChat, Tencent Auto Intelligence, and NetEase Cloud Music, catering specifically to Chinese consumer preferences. The cabin is also equipped with a front wireless charging pad and four 45W fast-charging ports to meet the power demands of all occupants.
For comfort amenities, the SE variant comes standard with 12-way power-adjustable front seats (with 4-way lumbar support), driver seat memory, heated front seats, power-reclining rear seatbacks, rear headrest pillows, and winged headrests for both rows. The HSE variant builds on this with front seat leg extensions, ventilation and memory functions, as well as heated rear seats. Audio is handled by a standard Meridian™ premium sound system featuring 12 speakers and a subwoofer. Additional cabin highlights include a digital streaming rear-view mirror, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a nano-ion air purification system (with PM2.5 filtration and CO₂ monitoring).
On the safety front, the 2026 Evoque features active roll prevention systems across the range, including Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Roll Stability Control (RSC) , which actively adjust vehicle dynamics during sharp cornering or evasive manoeuvres to minimise rollover risks. Passive safety equipment includes front airbags, front side airbags, full-length side curtain airbags, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).
For driver assistance, the Evoque comes standard with a Level 2 ADAS suite across all variants. Key features include: Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Autonomous Emergency Braking, Driver Condition Monitor, Auto High Beam Assist, Traffic Sign Recognition, front and rear parking sensors, and a reverse camera. The flagship HSE trim further adds Blind Spot Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and Park Assist.
Since its introduction in 2011, the Range Rover Evoque generated massive global interest with its trendsetting design, once commanding premium dealer markups of up to RM200,000 at its height. However, recent years have seen its sales momentum slow significantly. From January to July 2025, monthly sales of the Evoque struggled to exceed 800 units, with first-half sales plunging 30% year-on-year. June 2025 sales stood at just 631 units. This has led to heavy retail discounts, with the entry variant originally listed at RM429,800 seeing bare-car transaction prices drop to between RM179,800 and RM189,800. Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that the Range Rover Evoque will officially exit the Chinese market by the end of 2025.
Industry reviews note that while the Evoque remains attractive for its exterior design and genuine off-road credentials—with InControl OS 2.0 feeling distinctly responsive thanks to the Snapdragon 8155 chip—it faces stiff competition from German rivals and local new energy vehicles (NEVs). Its shortcomings in smart connectivity and total ownership costs have become more apparent over time. Nevertheless, as an iconic model that once led the luxury SUV design renaissance, the Range Rover Evoque leaves behind an indelible mark on the global automotive landscape, defined by its unmistakable silhouette and Land Rover's go-anywhere DNA.
