Kaiyi X3 Pro EV

2026-10-07 23:50:00

The Kaiyi X3 Pro EV is a compact all-electric crossover SUV developed by Chinese carmaker Kaiyi Auto. Positioned as a core model in the brand's global strategy, the X3 Pro EV is designed to offer urban commuters an economical, practical, and tech-forward green mobility solution. Besides catering to high-frequency daily short-distance commutes, the crossover has also garnered significant attention in various international markets courtesy of its versatile cabin packaging and mature electric powertrain.

Model Overview

Positioned in the compact crossover SUV segment, the Kaiyi X3 Pro EV serves as a pivotal product in the brand's line-up to drive its push towards electrified mobility.

Market Tags: Compact pure electric SUV, value for money, urban runabout, crossover styling.

Product Highlights: The vehicle's main selling point is rooted in its pragmatic approach to engineering. By pairing proven electric motor and battery tech, it keeps running and maintenance costs remarkably low without compromising usable driving range. A segment-leading 2,632 mm wheelbase affords generous passenger room, which, paired with a flat rear floor, translates to exceptional cabin space efficiency.

Market Positioning: Competitively priced within its segment, the X3 Pro EV primarily targets budget-conscious young families, urban daily drivers, and commercial fleet operators transitioning to electrified public transport (such as taxis and e-hailing fleets).

Development History

Origins: The Kaiyi X3 Pro EV is underpinned by Kaiyi's Showjet platform, which also spawned several internal combustion engine (ICE) variants. Amid the accelerating global EV shift, Kaiyi rolled out the all-electric X3 Pro on this architecture to swiftly establish a footprint in the global new energy vehicle (NEV) arena.

Evolution: The nameplate evolved from conventional ICE underpinnings into a smart, fully electric offering. On the technical front, Kaiyi partnered with industry-leading battery manufacturers like CATL to guarantee the reliability and durability of the powertrain's core energy storage system.

Key Milestones:

2024 (Global Rollout): The X3 Pro EV made its official foray into multiple overseas markets. Most notably in Hong Kong, Kaiyi Auto forged a strategic partnership with a local energy firm to deploy 5,000 units of the X3 Pro EV for a taxi fleet electrification initiative, underscoring its durability in high-mileage commercial operations. Elsewhere, the crossover is also marketed in regions like Europe under localised nameplates such as the Wave 3.

Market Performance

The Kaiyi X3 Pro EV has demonstrated strong market penetration globally, making notable inroads into emerging markets across Southeast Asia, South America, and parts of Europe.

Competitive Landscape: In the compact pure electric crossover space, the X3 Pro EV takes on conventional joint-venture ICE models and early EV entries by banking on its sheer value proposition. Its key strengths lie in accessible entry pricing and low maintenance costs, supported by an expanding global aftersales network.

Owner Feedback: Customer satisfaction largely revolves around its rock-bottom running costs, clever cabin packaging, and user-friendly driving dynamics. As a highly utilitarian runabout, its nimble handling in urban traffic has earned positive feedback across the board.

Core Technologies

Powertrain: Propulsion comes from a front-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor rated at up to 120 kW (99 kW on specific variants) and 280 Nm of torque. This setup affords brisk low-end acceleration, completing the 0-50 km/h sprint in roughly 3.7 seconds—ideal for tackling stop-and-go city traffic.

Battery and Range: Energy is stored in a 53.6 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, delivering a WLTP-rated range of over 400 km—ample for daily urban commutes and short intercity trips.

Charging: The vehicle supports DC fast charging, enabling a 30% to 80% state of charge (SoC) in approximately 30 minutes under optimal conditions, minimising downtime at charging stations.

Infotainment & Cabin Tech: Inside, there is a 10.25-inch floating infotainment touchscreen with voice command support and smartphone integration (such as Apple CarPlay). A 360-degree surround-view camera system is also on board, making parking manoeuvres effortless, especially for new drivers.

Future Plans

As of June 2026, Kaiyi Auto's roadmap for the X3 Pro series centres around the following:

Platform Upgrades: Continuous EV platform revisions to enhance the battery management system's (BMS) thermal management efficiency, ensuring consistent driving range even in extreme climates.

Advanced Driver Assistance: Plans to roll out upgraded ADAS algorithms in upcoming model year updates, bolstering active safety and collision prevention capabilities in dense urban environments.

Market Expansion: Further strengthening aftersales support networks across Southeast Asia and the Middle East, while leveraging its fleet operational expertise to supply standardised green mobility solutions to more cities.
