Jiyue (Jiyue Motors) is a high-end intelligent automotive robot brand jointly developed by Baidu and Geely Holding Group, formerly known as Jidu Auto established in March 2021. In August 2023, due to production qualification issues, Geely Holding Group launched a new automotive brand "Jiyue". The entity company is registered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, replacing the previously established Jidu Auto, becoming the new manufacturing entity. Both Jiyue and Jidu are brands incubated by Baidu and Geely's "Automotive Robot Strategic Cooperation Project", representing strategic manifestations of different stages.
In terms of equity structure, related parties of Geely and Baidu hold 65% and 35% of the shares of Jiyue and Yue Auto Technology Co., Ltd., respectively, controlled by Geely. Regarding division of labor, Baidu is responsible for software parts such as intelligent driving and intelligent cockpit, which are its strengths; Geely is responsible for hardware, opening the SEA Haohan Architecture to Jiyue (the same platform incubated Zeekr, Lotus, smart, and other models). Former Jidu Auto CEO Xia Yiping continues to serve as Jiyue Motors CEO, responsible for the company's overall operations and management. Jiyue Motors products are manufactured by Geely factories, with exclusive operation authorized to Jidu. The brand's first model is Jiyue 01, and the second model is Jiyue 07.
In December 2024, Jiyue Motors experienced a "Flash Crash", falling into a crisis of capital chain rupture, layoffs, store closures, executive departures, and unpaid employee social security. The two major shareholders terminated the planned subsequent investment of 7 billion yuan, forcing the company to halt operations. In November 2025, Jiyue's operating entity Shanghai Jidu Automobile Co., Ltd. submitted a pre-reorganization application to the Shanghai No. 3 Intermediate People's Court and was formally accepted, launching the judicial reorganization procedure to introduce new investors. As of April 2026, 5 affiliated companies of Jiyue have been ruled by the court to enter the substantive consolidated reorganization procedure. Middle Eastern investors show strong interest in participation, while Baidu explicitly seeks a full exit. The brand's future direction is currently in a complex situation where bankruptcy reorganization and restarting survival coexist.
Jidu Era: A Star Project of Technology + Manufacturing (2021-2023)
In January 2021, Baidu and Geely Auto jointly established Shanghai Jidu Automobile Co., Ltd., with Baidu holding 55% and Geely holding 45%, and registered capital of 2 billion yuan. Baidu injected its Apollo autonomous driving technology developed over more than 150 billion yuan into Jidu Auto, while Geely opened its SEA Architecture and complete vehicle capacity. Products were manufactured by Geely factories, with exclusive operation authorized to Jidu. This shareholder combination of "Technology + Manufacturing" was highly expected by the industry, known as a new car creation project "born with a silver spoon". In January 2022, Jidu Auto completed Series A financing of nearly $400 million; in June of the same year, it launched its first car robot concept car ROBO-01.
Renamed to Jiyue and Product Launch (2023-2024)
In August 2023, due to production qualification issues, the previously Baidu-controlled Jidu Auto could not obtain independent manufacturing qualifications. Geely Holding Group launched the new automotive brand "Jiyue". The entity company is registered in Hangzhou, Zhejiang. The original Jidu Auto's first model ROBO-01 was also renamed "Jiyue 01". On October 27, 2023, Jiyue 01 was officially listed, with a starting price of 249,900 yuan. In December of the same year, Jiyue announced that the second mass-produced car was officially named "Jiyue 07" and was officially listed in September 2024. It is positioned as a Class C pure electric AI smart driving sedan, with a price range of 209,900 to 299,900 yuan.
"Flash Crash" and Halted Operations (December 2024)
On December 11, 2024, Jiyue CEO Xia Yiping communicated with all employees via video conference, issuing an internal letter stating that the company faced difficulties and needed to enter the startup phase 2.0. Afterwards, news spread online that Jidu's various departments were disbanded on the spot, stores closed, employee social security was unpaid, and car owner rights were frustrated. On December 12, 2024, many employees blockaded Jiyue Motors' headquarters, demanding solutions for company dissolution and employee compensation. Xia Yiping promised "I will not run away". On December 13, 2024, Baidu and Geely released a joint statement, promising to assist in solving employee social security and severance compensation issues, and to maintain normal use, after-sales, and maintenance of user vehicles. It was revealed that the main reason for the halt was the drastic change in the industry competitive landscape, and the planned business plan could not be executed. It is reported that Jiyue only retains a small-scale team focused on software updates and customer service. Xia Yiping himself no longer participates in daily operations, with the focus shifting to coordinating negotiations with shareholders, creditors, and potential investors.
Pre-reorganization and Judicial Reorganization (2025-2026)
On November 21, 2025, Jiyue's operating entity Shanghai Jidu Automobile Co., Ltd. submitted a pre-reorganization application to the Shanghai No. 3 Intermediate People's Court and was formally accepted, with Zhonglun Law Firm (Shanghai) serving as interim administrator. On April 30, 2026, Jiyue Motors' 5 affiliated companies were ruled by the court to enter the substantive consolidated reorganization procedure, officially entering the rule of law judicial reorganization stage. This reorganization aims to revitalize existing assets and resources, laying the foundation for introducing strategic investment, and has received widespread attention from the industry.
Jiyue Motors' product line only has two mass-produced models, listed for sales in 2023 and 2024 respectively. The vehicle system is highly streamlined, characterized by a dual-model configuration of one "SUV" and one "Sedan".
Jiyue 01: Jiyue Motors' first mass-produced model, positioned as a mid-to-large size pure electric SUV. It was officially listed on October 27, 2023, and a refreshed model was launched in August 2024. Vehicle dimensions: Length 4853mm, Width 1990mm, Height 1611mm. In terms of power, the refreshed Max model is equipped with a rear-mounted single motor, with a maximum power of 200kW (272 hp), maximum torque of 343 N·m, and 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 3.8 seconds; 100km consumption is 15.7 kWh. In terms of range, the maximum range under the CLTC standard can reach 720 km. The manufacturer's suggested retail price is 219,900 to 339,900 yuan. This model, with 508 TOPS of AI computing power (dual NVIDIA Orin-X chips), has become the focus of the smart driving track. Officially defined as the first "AI Automotive Robot". As of 2026, Jiyue 01 has been officially listed as "Discontinued".
Jiyue 07: Jiyue Motors' second mass-produced model, positioned as a Class C pure electric AI smart driving sedan. It was officially listed on September 10, 2024, with 4 models on sale. The manufacturer's suggested retail price is 209,900 to 299,900 RMB. After limited-time discounts, the selling price can drop to 199,900 to 289,900 RMB. The new car is based on the SEA Architecture, equipped with the Qualcomm 8295 Cockpit Chip and high-level intelligent driving system. Under the CLTC standard, the pure electric range can reach up to 880 km. Battery capacities are provided in two specifications: 71.4 kWh and 93.4 kWh. The whole series is equipped with standard features such as handle-less door design, retractable electric spoiler, and third large screen rear display. As of 2026, Jiyue 07 is also in a discontinued status.
Shared Platform Architecture: Both Jiyue 01 and Jiyue 07 are developed based on the Geely SEA Architecture. This architecture is a pure electric exclusive modular platform independently developed by Geely Holding Group. Mass-produced models under the same platform include Zeekr 001, Zeekr 009, Lotus ELETRE, smart #1, etc.
Sales: Never Achieved Scale Breakthrough: Since the delivery of Jiyue Motors' first model, sales have never achieved substantial breakthroughs. In 2023, the brand's first-year sales were 774 units. Entering 2024, the brand entered a sprint phase. October deliveries reached 3,107 units, November dropped to 2,485 units, and cumulative deliveries for the first 11 months exceeded 14,000. Among them, Jiyue 01 cumulative sales were 9,388 units, and Jiyue 07 sales were less than 3,000 units. The annual cumulative sales were 13,561 units. In 2025, the brand's sales dropped sharply to 280 units. As of March 2026, the brand's cumulative sales were 14,615 units. For comparison, Li Auto's 2024 sales exceeded 500,000 units among new forces in the same period, while NIO and Xpeng were both around 200,000 units. Jiyue's monthly average sales of less than 1,300 units were almost at the bottom in the car market.
Finance: Massive Losses and Debt Crisis: Jiyue's capital crisis was already apparent in April 2023. At that time, the company's cash on hand was only enough to maintain 2 months of operations, but CEO Xia Yiping did not disclose this severe situation publicly. Before the "Flash Crash" in December 2024, Baidu's cumulative investment since the start of the Jidu project was about 8 billion yuan. Jiyue's total brand sales were only about 14,000 units, with monthly average deliveries less than 1,200 units. The two major shareholders terminated the planned subsequent investment of 7 billion yuan due to continuous losses, directly causing Jiyue's capital chain rupture. When Jiyue "Flash Crash" occurred in December 2024, the total external debt reached 7 billion yuan. Among them, Geely and Baidu as the largest creditors had a combined creditor's rights proportion of about 72% - Geely mainly formed accounts receivable due to OEM services, while Baidu originated from intelligent technology cooperation investment. In January 2026, Xia Yiping was restricted to high consumption by the court.
User Service and Second-hand Value Retention: After Jiyue halted operations, Lynk & Co under Geely provided after-sales service support for Jiyue owners, but owners reported that waiting time for parts for repairs was too long. Frequent issues such as vehicle system lagging and APP offline occurred. Services promised at the time of purchase, such as lifetime free charging, lifetime free data, OTA upgrades, and lifetime warranty, could not be fulfilled. A Jiyue 01 registered in 2024 with less than 10,000 km driven was quoted at only 98,800 yuan in the second-hand market, a loss of over half compared to the 219,900 RMB selling price.
Jiyue's core technology strategy is led by Baidu, focusing on three levels: smart driving, smart cockpit, and AI algorithms. The brand's core competitiveness is considered to lie in smart cockpit technology.
Apollo Advanced Intelligent Driving System: The entire series of Jiyue is equipped with Baidu's Apollo intelligent driving system, achieving Level 3 intelligent driving functions. In March 2024, Jiyue received the first L3 autonomous driving test license in China Optics Valley and can carry out conditional autonomous driving road tests in designated areas. Jiyue 01, with 508 TOPS of AI computing power, became the industry focus. It is equipped with dual NVIDIA Orin-X smart driving chips and 31 smart driving sensors (including 2 LiDARs), supporting Highway NOV, City NOV, and other full-scenario intelligent assisted driving.
Smart Cockpit Based on 8295 Chip: Jiyue 07 is equipped with the Qualcomm 4th Gen Cockpit Chip 8295, with computing power as high as 30 TOPS, supporting multi-screen linkage and real-time multimodal interaction. The SIMo voice assistant response speed reaches the millisecond level, supporting voice recognition for four people simultaneously. Baidu's ERNIE Bot large model technology is also integrated into Jiyue's voice interaction system.
SEA Architecture: Both Jiyue 01 and Jiyue 07 are developed based on the Geely SEA Architecture. This architecture is a pure electric exclusive modular platform independently developed by Geely Holding Group, with technical characteristics of high bandwidth, high security, and high integration. It can cover the development of full-size models from Class A to Class E. Mass-produced models under the same platform include Zeekr 001, Lotus ELETRE, etc.
Three-Electric Systems: The refreshed Jiyue 01 is equipped with a rear permanent magnet synchronous motor, with a maximum power of 200kW and maximum torque of 343 N·m. The CLTC comprehensive range is 720 km. Jiyue 07 is equipped with an advanced electric drive solution. The 93.4 kWh large battery pack version has a maximum range of 880 km, supporting 800V high-voltage fast charging. Charging for 10 minutes can replenish about 600 km of range. The motor electronic control system is provided by VRE Electric, a subsidiary of Geely.
Jiyue Motors has not carried out a systematic layout in the overseas market. There were statements on global sales when the brand's first mass-produced car Jiyue 01 was listed, but the actual sales network only covers the mainland China region. When Jiyue 07 was listed in September 2024, the brand did not mention any overseas market plans. According to currently public information, Jiyue has not established any overseas R&D centers or production bases, nor has it built an overseas dealer network.
As of May 2026, Jiyue Motors is at a node between judicial reorganization and potential bankruptcy. On April 30, 2026, Jiyue Motors' 5 affiliated companies were ruled by the court to enter the substantive consolidated reorganization procedure. This reorganization aims to revitalize existing assets and resources, laying the foundation for introducing strategic investment. It is reported that Dubai, UAE tech company Robo.ai has formally submitted application materials to participate in the pre-reorganization strategic investor recruitment and selection, while Jiyue seeks a full exit in the reorganization.
Xia Yiping is leading the introduction of Middle Eastern investors to promote reorganization, while Baidu explicitly expressed its intention to fully exit in this round of reorganization. Previously, former Jiyue PR Head Xu Jiye revealed that the Jidu Board of Directors had agreed to the restructuring plan, and the company is communicating and negotiating with 3 to 4 restructuring parties. Jiyue officially stated in the pre-reorganization announcement on November 21, 2025, that the core purpose of pre-reorganization is to introduce new strategic investors, revitalize existing assets and resources, and protect user after-sales rights. In late April 2026, Jiyue's 5 affiliated companies successfully approved substantive consolidated reorganization, opening a rule of law channel for introducing new investors. At the after-sales level, Jiyue continues to be provided with maintenance and repair services by Lynk & Co under Geely, but owners report poor experience.
If Jiyue is to truly return to the right track, it still faces multiple tests. On one hand, takeover needs to bear a huge debt of about 7 billion RMB, and the willingness of local manufacturers is generally low. On the other hand, compared to HiPhi, Neta, and others, Jiyue's plate is not solid - production qualifications and factories are provided by Geely, while Geely's existing mid-to-high-end brands include Lynk & Co, Zeekr, and Lotus Cars, raising doubts about resource allocation. Jiyue was an important attempt by Baidu and Geely to cross-boundary car creation of "Technology + Manufacturing". Its destiny condenses the cruel survival landscape of China's new car forces in capital recession and intensification of elimination races. Whether reborn in capital reorganization or heading for bankruptcy liquidation, Jiyue will be recorded in industry history as a flagship case of cross-boundary integration of intelligent automobiles and internet giants.
