Geely Haoyue

2026-09-26 17:30:00

Model Overview

The Geely Haoyue is a mid-size SUV from Geely Auto. First launched in 2020, the original model targeted the large five-seater and seven-seater family car segment. From 2022 onwards, it progressively evolved into the Haoyue L series: in December 2022, the Haoyue L, built on an all-new mid-size SUV platform, made its global debut and went on sale, featuring a standard Drive-E 2.0TD powertrain and an individual seven-seat layout across the range. The 2024 model received cabin upgrades with a 14.6-inch floating central touchscreen and Galaxy OS 2.0, whilst fuel compatibility was optimised for RON 92 petrol. In October 2025, the third-generation Haoyue L was officially unveiled and subsequently launched on 27 November, with official retail pricing ranging from RM99,900 to RM129,900, alongside limited-time promotional offers from RM89,900 to RM119,900. Currently on sale as a 2026 model, it offers dual powertrain options of 1.5T and 2.0T alongside three seating configurations: 5-seater, 6-seater, and 7-seater.

Design Language

The third-generation Haoyue L adopts the Geely Star family's latest "Aesthetics of Heaven and Earth" design language. Up front, it sports a waterfall-inspired cascading grille flanked by 16 orderly vertical chrome slats. Connected seamlessly to the grille are the "Megalith Array" matrix LED headlights, complemented by enlarged bumper air curtain trims that enhance its aggressive visual stance. In terms of dimensions, the SUV measures 4,865 mm long, 1,910 mm wide, and 1,770 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,825 mm. At the rear sits a 2.7-metre "Lava Flow" full-width LED taillight bar packing 244 LED units for distinct night-time visibility. Four exterior colour choices are available: Snow Mountain Silver, Distant Peak Grey, Starry Sky Black, and Bright Moon White.

Inside, the cabin carries over the Star SUV family design ethos with a clean, uncluttered layout. It is offered in two interior themes—Warm Sun Brown and Moon Shadow Grey—delivering warm and refined ambiences, respectively. Soft-touch materials cover up to 80% of the dashboard, accented by metallic trim and textured detailing for an elevated sense of quality.

Powertrain and Performance

The third-generation Haoyue L introduces a dual powertrain line-up for the first time. The new 1.5T turbocharged engine (BHE15-EFZ) produces 133 kW (around 181 PS) and 290 Nm of torque, returning a WLTC combined fuel consumption as low as 7.3 L/100 km. The carry-over 2.0T engine delivers 160 kW (around 218 PS) and 325 Nm of torque, completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in just 7.9 seconds. Both powerplants are paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT) driving the front wheels and can run on RON 92 petrol, with the 2.0T variant rated at a WLTC combined figure of 7.89 L/100 km. Three drive modes—Eco, Comfort, and Sport—come standard across the range to suit both daily commutes and highway cruising.

Chassis and Handling

Underneath, the third-generation Haoyue L rides on a front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link independent suspension setup (both fitted with anti-roll bars), co-developed and tuned by Sino-European engineering teams for an optimal balance between handling stability and ride comfort. The chassis calibration leans towards European dynamics, effectively controlling body bounce over undulations and maintaining strong tyre grip. It boasts a tight turning radius of just 5.9 metres—on par with A-segment SUVs—while light low-speed steering torque makes urban manoeuvres and parking effortless. Braking hardware includes ABS, EBD, and ESP as standard, whilst the upper-mid and top-spec variants add a 540° panoramic camera with a transparent chassis view to eliminate blind spots in tight spaces.

Cabin and Features

All variants of the third-generation Haoyue L come equipped with the Flyme Auto smart cockpit system. The dashboard houses a 10.2-inch full digital instrument cluster and a 14.6-inch floating central touchscreen (1080p full HD resolution with slim bezels), driven by a high-performance Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chip for snappy responsiveness. Flyme Auto supports full-scenario dual-zone voice commands (97% recognition accuracy), multi-finger screen-sharing gestures (allowing navigation routes to be swiped from the passenger screen to the driver display), and intelligent AutoNavi mapping, alongside 100+ cloud apps and OTA updates. Smartphone connectivity includes Flyme Link, HUAWEI HiCar, and CarLink, supporting over 80% of mainstream devices. A 72-colour ambient lighting system with adaptive scenario adjustment is also standard across all variants.

Seating-wise, the third-generation Haoyue L offers 5-, 6-, and 7-seater configurations. The 5-seater variant offers 628 litres of boot space plus a 96-litre underfloor compartment; the 6-seater adopts a 2+2+2 layout with second-row individual seats boasting power adjustment, ventilation, heating, and massage functions; the 7-seater features a 2+3+2 setup with three separate individual second-row seats (a segment exclusive), expanding to 2,360 litres of flat cargo volume extending up to 2.2 metres when both rear rows are folded. Automatic climate control, rear air vents, remote engine start, keyless entry, and push-start ignition are standard across the board.

Safety and Driver Assistance

On the passive safety front, the third-generation Haoyue L adopts a high-strength cage body structure, fitted standard with front airbags, front side airbags, and full-length curtain airbags for comprehensive occupant protection. For active safety, upper-trim variants feature Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including full-speed Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go (ACC S&G), Autonomous Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection (AEB-P), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Traffic Jam Assist (TJA), Door Opening Warning (DOW), Forward and Rear Collision Warning, and Blind Spot Detection with Lane Change Assist. The ADAS suite utilises 5 HD cameras and 5 radar sensors to scan surrounding conditions in real time. The standard 540° panoramic view monitor with transparent chassis provides valuable assistance during tight parking and tricky terrain, backed by standard aids like Auto Brake Hold, Hill Start Assist, and Hill Descent Control.

Market Performance and Reception

Since its introduction, the Haoyue L has experienced fluctuating market performance. In 2024, cumulative sales surpassed 32,000 units. While it held steady at around 2,000 to 3,000 units monthly in early 2025, numbers dipped mid-year, falling to 362 units by September. With the launch of the third-generation (2026) model, Geely aims to regain momentum by lowering the entry threshold with the new 1.5T engine, integrating the Flyme Auto ecosystem, and offering versatile 5-, 6-, and 7-seater layouts. As of June 2026, showroom discounts of around RM10,000 have brought the entry-level price down to the RM89,900 ballpark.

Owner feedback remains mixed: praise is directed at its class-above cabin space (ample rear legroom and a massive 2,360-litre flat cargo bay with rear seats folded), planted chassis dynamics, and refined power delivery. The 7-seater's three individual second-row seats are a notable USP in its class, whilst the smoothness and app richness of the Flyme Auto system are well-received. Conversely, criticisms focus on mediocre NVH insulation (noticeable tyre and wind noise at cruising speeds), real-world fuel consumption exceeding official ratings (hitting 10–11 L/100 km in city traffic jams), and a slower tech update cycle against the rapid influx of new energy vehicles (NEVs). As a mid-size ICE SUV built around the value proposition of "maximum space at an accessible price", the Haoyue L remains a compelling contender in the RM100,000 family segment, yet it faces stiff competition from rivals like the Chery Tiggo 8 and Jetour X90 line-ups, alongside unrelenting pressure from the burgeoning EV and hybrid market.
