Brand Overview

Force Motors (formerly Bajaj Tempo founded by the Firodia family) is an absolute "dominant force" and an enduring industrial evergreen in India's Light Commercial Vehicles (LCV), Utility Vehicles (UV), and shared mobility/passenger transport sectors. Its headquarters is in Pune, Maharashtra, India, with core intelligent manufacturing and assembly bases spread across industrial hubs such as Pithampur.

Unlike brands caught in the mainstream red ocean of pure electric passenger cars, Force Motors adopted a high-threshold "hardcore off-road, large-capacity school bus/ambulance specialty modification, and German top-tier powertrain OEM" composite strategy. In the Indian 10-26 seat light commercial passenger market, it achieved a complete monopoly with a formidable 70%+ market share and simultaneously became the Mercedes-Benz and BMW’s only full-stack core powertrain (engine and axle) official designated manufacturing partner in India. Entering 2026, Force achieved the company's highest revenue and profit growth in its history, with a foundation as solid as a rock.

Development History

German Bloodline and Tool Foundation (1958-2015): The brand took shape under Navalmal Firodia in 1958. Early on, by introducing the German Hannover Tempo three-wheeler and Mercedes-Benz OM616 diesel engine manufacturing technology, it embedded the "durable, tough, high-torque" mechanical DNA deep into the brand’s core. In 2005, the brand was officially renamed Force Motors.

Multi-dimensional Breakout (2016-2025): Relying on decades of deep mutual trust with Daimler, Force developed the high-end passenger vehicle Urbania, benchmarking the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Meanwhile, its hardcore off-road Gurkha (commonly known as the "Indian version of the small Big G") gained fame in civilian off-road circles and secured bulk procurement by the Indian Defence Forces, winning over 2,900 off-road special orders from the military.

Epic Iteration and 2026 Full Line Refresh (2026): Entering 2026, Force welcomed an epic "digital-intelligent deconstruction and full reset" of its entire product line:

End of April: The Group released its 2025-2026 Fiscal Year end financial report, recording a record-breaking historical highest annual revenue of 905.6 billion Indian Rupees (surging 12.2% YoY), with domestic wholesale sales surging 20%.

May 5th: Official major launch of the new generation Force Traveller N Range. The launch marked a full historical leap for the brand — Force announced that starting May 2026, it would completely discontinue sales of the decades-old Traveller model, switching 100% of factory capacity to the new N Series platform. This platform adopts robotic fully automated hemming and introduces passenger-car level digital intelligent cockpits, infinitely widening its Iron Throne moat.

Brand Matrix / Product Line

As of 2026, Force Motors has built a three-flagship vehicle portfolio composed of "National Shared Commuting, Heavy-Duty Hardcore Off-Road, and High-End Corporate Business Travel":

New Traveller N Family (2026 Refresh Meritor): The brand’s absolute sales and cash flow pillar. Official guide price locked at 146,200 to 221,600 Indian Rupees. The 2026 N Series covers three vertical modification applications: Ambulance, Full-function School Bus, and Urban Distribution Delivery Van. The new model completely abandons the old rough sheet metal stamping, adopting a new modular rigid roof and integrated body.

Gurkha Off-Road Legion (Gurkha 3-Door / 5-Door): The gold standard in India’s civilian hardcore non-load-bearing off-road market. Retail price between 159,500 to 180,000 Indian Rupees. It features native standard front and rear axle mechanical locking differentials, a water wading snorkel, and a Mercedes-derived 2.6T diesel engine. The 2026 5-door 7-seater version has become the top choice for Jungle Safari exploration and specialty crossing across India.

Urbania Flagship Business Series: The brand’s high-premium effort to break into the mid-to-high-end shuttle segment (Retail price 305,100 to 372,100 Indian Rupees). It specializes in multinational executive commuting, high-spec tour charters, and premium online rentals.

Trax Classic Tool Car Series: Includes the powerful Trax Cruiser, which has long served as the all-terrain “invincible work horse” for India’s lower-tier markets and mechanized farming zones.

Market Performance

In the 2026 India and pan-South Asia public transport and infrastructure logistics arena, Force enjoys overwhelming dominance. Its dominance in the 10-26 seat shared commuting niche has remained unshakable for years.

With the Indian government vigorously promoting large-scale regional public health network coverage expansion, along with the strict implementation of school safety bus standards and BS6 Phase 2 emission regulations, Force has successfully locked in the procurement lifeline for provincial government-enterprise bulk purchases, multinational IT enterprise employee commuting (Staff Movement), and large-scale road transportation rental fleets, relying on its 38 core regional ASO guarantee networks covering all of India and the strong “high residual value” of its versatile, multi-purpose vehicles.

Core Technology

Force's hardcore strength lies in performing a highly Indian localized heavy-load, complex terrain adaptability "Specialized Engineering" of German old-brand mechanical precision:

Passenger-car level "Digital Intelligence" Flight Cockpit Replacement:  The 2026 new Traveller N Series completely bid farewell to the past truck-style simple interior, native introduced full LCD digital cluster and 9-inch integrated smart touch entertainment screen. Greatly optimized overall vehicle NVH performance, reset ergonomic high-elasticity long-distance comfort seats and high-power dual-zone HVAC assembly, fully guaranteeing long-distance high-frequency departure driver anti-fatigue active safety.

German Bloodline 2.6L CR Powerful Diesel Heart:  Core full series equipped with that extremely durable, world-famous 2.6-liter four-cylinder common rail turbo diesel engine (FM 2.6 CR). Fully compliant with the latest BS6 Stage 2 emission standards. Although restrained to limit maximum horsepower at 115 HP, it can explode 350 N·m terrifying low-speed torque in the extremely low RPM 1400-2200 rpm range, possessing unparalleled full-load climbing and bad fuel tolerance.

High Rigidity Low Weld Seam Integrated Body Topology:  2026 Commercial Series fully upgraded manufacturing processes, mounting large batch intelligent welding robots and Automated Door Hemming technology. By greatly reducing physical splicing gaps of the Body-in-White (BIW), the overall vehicle structure torsional rigidity increased by over 25%, long-term preventing the stubborn disease of body seam rust in India's rainy seasons.

Overseas Layout

As a model of "German Precision Bottom + India Scale Intelligent Manufacturing", Force Motors is utilizing its scale advantage at the Pithampur factory, while guarding the Indian home court, accelerating going overseas. April 2026 data shows its overseas export volume surged 33.33% against the trend. Its right-hand drive and specialty modification (especially high-standard ambulances and high-cold off-road vehicles) product lines are implementing high-frequency grid connection along ASEAN, Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific island country public transport and disaster relief rescue supply chains.

Future Outlook

Facing the second half of 2026 and mid-2028 strategic roadmap, Force Motors' route is pure and majestic: "Guard the capacity volume with pure hardcore machinery and digital intelligence refresh". As India's large transport green transformation steps advance, Force has already initiated the positive development of pure electric (BEV) specialty commercial vehicles based on Traveller N architecture and "Force Explorer" city high-end SUV based on new medium platform. The brand's goal is to always be the most durable, most trustworthy, most influential "National Capacity and Defense Backbone" on this vast and complex land, continuously defining the new paradigm of the 21st century South Asia public large transport era in the commercial and hardcore off-road blue ocean.
