The Ferrari 849 Testarossa is an all-new flagship supercar globally unveiled on 10 September 2025 by Italian supercar marque Ferrari. Serving as the successor to the SF90 Stradale, the 849 Testarossa revives the legendary "Testarossa" nameplate from Ferrari's storied heritage. The "849" designation carries a distinct meaning: "8" denotes the engine's cylinder count, whilst "49" represents the individual cylinder displacement of 499 cc. The new model is available in two body styles: coupe (Berlinetta) and convertible (Spider). In overseas markets, the Berlinetta is priced from 460,000 euros (approx. RM3,830,000), whilst the Spider starts at 500,000 euros (approx. RM4,160,000). For the Chinese market, the supercar made its official debut and market launch in Shanghai in December 2025, with official pricing ranging from RM5,168,000 to RM5,638,000 for the Berlinetta and Spider variants respectively. Positioned as a flagship plug-in hybrid supercar, the 849 Testarossa goes head-to-head against rivals such as the Lamborghini Revuelto and Aston Martin Valhalla.

Design Language
The 849 Testarossa was penned by the Ferrari Styling Centre under the stewardship of Flavio Manzoni. Taking inspiration from Ferrari Sports Prototype racers of the 1970s, the new supercar showcases a distinctive visual identity defined by sharp, geometric lines. The front fascia draws on classic 1980s geometric styling, incorporating horizontal trim elements in revised proportions to generate an integrated spoiler effect. The rear end pays homage to legendary sports prototypes such as the 512 S Le Mans race car, featuring a sculpted twin-tail wing configuration. In terms of dimensions, the vehicle measures 4,718 mm long and 2,304 mm wide, with an overall height of 1,225 mm for the Berlinetta and 1,186 mm for the Spider, resting on a 2,650 mm wheelbase. Courtesy of comprehensive aerodynamic optimisation, the car generates 415 kg of downforce at 250 km/h—25 kg more than the outgoing SF90 Stradale.
Powertrain and Performance
The 849 Testarossa is powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain that pairs a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with three electric motors. Codenamed F154FC, the V8 internal combustion engine has been comprehensively re-engineered with all-new cylinder heads, engine block, exhaust manifolds, intake plenums, and titanium bolts, alongside the largest turbochargers ever fitted to a road-going series-production Ferrari. The combustion engine alone churns out 830 hp. The hybrid system comprises one rear-mounted electric motor and two front-axle motors, contributing an additional 220 hp. Total system output reaches a massive 1,050 hp, representing a 50 hp increase over the SF90 Stradale. Power is delivered through an eight-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT). In terms of performance, the century sprint (0-100 km/h) takes a blistering 2.3 seconds, with top speed rated in excess of 330 km/h. A 7.45 kWh battery pack delivers a pure electric zero-emissions range of up to 25 km.
Chassis and Handling
The 849 Testarossa utilises a mid-engine, all-wheel-drive (AWD) layout. The chassis has been thoroughly upgraded to cope with the increased performance, featuring newly calibrated springs and dampers. Braking is handled by a next-generation brake-by-wire system integrated with an ABS Evo controller for exceptionally precise braking response. The supercar debuts FIVE (Ferrari Integrated Vehicle Estimator), utilising digital twin technology to estimate and replicate dynamic vehicle behaviour in real time, ensuring all active chassis and dynamic control systems operate in rapid harmony. The AWD setup works alongside dynamic torque vectoring to channel power precisely across each individual wheel. The optional Assetto Fiorano pack sheds an extra 30 kg, introducing track-honed Multimatic dampers and 20-inch carbon-fibre wheels.
Cabin and Features
Inside, the 849 Testarossa features a horizontal dashboard architecture traditional to Ferrari berlinettas, fused with a single-seater-inspired wraparound cockpit. The floating instrument binnacle is complemented by distinctive "C"-shaped air-conditioning vents. The steering wheel inherits the tactile mechanical switchgear first seen on the F80, retaining full physical controls including the engine start/stop button. Both comfort seats and lightweight carbon-fibre racing bucket seats are available. Drivers can select between four distinct drive modes, including pure EV mode, via the eManettino dial. An all-new Human-Machine Interface (HMI) system is also fitted, placing all core vehicle functions intuitively around the driver.
Safety and Intelligent Driving
The 849 Testarossa comes equipped with Ferrari's most sophisticated electronic dynamic control systems. The FIVE digital twin setup works seamlessly with the brake-by-wire system and ABS Evo controller to guarantee pinpoint precision and composed handling across all driving conditions. Its lightweight carbon-fibre monocoque and exhaustive electronic stability control suite together provide robust active and passive occupant protection. Ferrari also packages the vehicle with a 7-year complimentary scheduled maintenance programme and up to 16 years of extended hybrid warranty coverage.
Market Performance and Reception
The global premiere of the 849 Testarossa marks the historic revival of one of Ferrari's most iconic nameplates. Diverging from the V12 pedigree of the 1956 and 1984 originals, the new-generation model adopts a V8 hybrid setup, encapsulating the seamless fusion of historical heritage and state-of-the-art modern engineering. The supercar made its official China debut at Casa Ferrari in Shanghai in December 2025. Retail prices in the Chinese market stand at RM5,168,000 for the Berlinetta and RM5,638,000 for the Spider. Customer deliveries for the Berlinetta commence in spring 2026, followed by the Spider convertible in autumn 2026. Standing as Ferrari's most potent non-limited series-production supercar to date, the 849 Testarossa establishes a formidable new benchmark in the flagship supercar segment with its 1,050 hp plug-in hybrid powertrain, track-bred aerodynamics, and the triumphant return of a legendary badge.
