Brand Overview

E-Legend is a pure electric supercar manufacturer originating from Germany, founded in 2021 by former Volkswagen Group designer Marcus Holzinger. Its headquarters is located in Beilngries, Bavaria, just a few kilometers from Audi's headquarters in Ingolstadt. The brand's mission is to "bring the pure classic driving experience of the 20th century into the electrified era," focusing on recreating classic cars from the Group B rally era of the 1980s as pure electric supercars, and dedicated to preserving the core driving pleasure of the internal combustion engine era during the electrification transformation. Founder Holzinger inherited the family business to continue the spirit of automotive design; his father, Wolfgang Holzinger, was one of the heads of Audi Sport Quattro styling design.

Development History

The brand's founding benefited from unexpected spare time brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. During the period when global manufacturing came to a halt, Marcus Holzinger used gaps in working from home to refine sketches from his youth and built a preliminary engineering plan with his father's technical partner, Roding Automobiles CEO Günther Riedl.

During the 2021 German Munich Motor Show, E-Legend officially launched its first model—the pure electric sports car EL1—in memory of the Group B rally classic model Audi Sport Quattro. The brand's initial product plan was to produce a limited run of 30 EL1 units. In 2023, the EL1 prototype entered the sample production stage. According to reports in 2026, the EL1 is still in the batch production and delivery stage prior to customer delivery, collecting durability and detailed verification data. According to the original plan, the production and delivery cycle for the 30 EL1s is about two years, but so far the EL1 has not completed full batch delivery, and the development status of the EL2 and EL3 has not yet been announced.

Product Portfolio

The E-Legend brand matrix is extremely streamlined, currently owning only the EL1 model.

EL1: The brand's first pure electric supercar. The exterior inherits Audi Sport Quattro's iconic design elements—the square front, protruding wheel arches, and integrated air intake have all been modernized, adopting contemporary technologies such as a B-pillar-less design, cameras replacing physical rear-view mirrors, and LED lighting. This car is limited to 30 units globally, with a pre-tax starting price of 890,000 euros in Germany. Brand CEO Marcus Holzinger has stated multiple times in interviews that other classic models from the Group B era—such as the Lancia Delta S4 and Ford RS200—are also suitable for inclusion in the brand's future model series. According to the plan, if the EL series continues, the EL2 and EL3 will each also be limited to 30 units.

Market Performance

E-Legend does not disclose traditional production and sales data; its core business model of "limited to 30 units plus pricing over one million euros" fits the logic of the high-end handcrafted supercar track. According to the 2021 reservation plan, the first batch of EL1 prototypes were to be delivered from the end of 2023 to 2024, with the entire production cycle planned for about two years. However, as of early 2026, EL1 vehicle delivery records remain not fully transparent, with limited public tracking by the media on delivery completion rates. The EL1 rarely participates in public auctions or invitation-only test drives, and transactions of vehicles in the secondary market are extremely rare, making it impossible to verify the exact number of customers who have completed delivery. The brand has not announced the full delivery completion or order lock dates for the 30 EL1s, and the mass production start dates for the EL2 and EL3 are also unclear.

Core Technology

The brand's technology core revolves around three pillars: a three-motor electric drive unit, a carbon fiber integrated chassis, and a highly integrated modular platform.

Three-Motor Electric Drive System: The EL1 is equipped with a three-motor layout—a single motor on the front axle and dual motors on the rear axle—with combined power of approximately 804 to 816 hp, all-wheel drive, 204 hp at the front wheels and 603 hp at the rear wheels. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h takes only 2.8 seconds, and 0 to 200 km/h can be completed in under 10 seconds.

T-Type 90 kWh Battery Pack: The battery pack is arranged behind the seats and under the center tunnel, supporting a WLTP range of 400 km and an 800V high-voltage architecture without affecting dynamic center of gravity distribution.

Lightweight Carbon Fiber Monocoque Chassis: The carbon fiber hard-shell body structure, along with the integrated electric drive and suspension system, is designed as an integrated module, with a dry vehicle weight of only 1,608 kg. This platform can accommodate different wheelbase models, providing a common modular basis for future new models such as the EL2 and EL3.

Global Presence

E-Legend considers Europe its primary market. Development and mass production are mainly carried out jointly with German partners (such as HOTE Design and Roding Automobiles). The models are promoted to global supercar collector groups, but no overseas assembly KD factories or regional R&D branches have been established.

Future Outlook

E-Legend still adheres to its original product logic of the "purely handcrafted, small-scale customization" route. In the future, the brand will fully complete the delivery and maintenance commitments for all 30 EL1s, and will promote the development and launch of the Group B tribute series, such as the EL2 and EL3, depending on financing, supply chain conditions, and the depth of the order book. Founder Marcus Holzinger has repeatedly stated that the EL1 is only the starting point for such custom models, and the next tribute model is currently under evaluation. Whether this vision can be realized depends on whether the brand can attract strategic investors and maintain its mechanical agility and craftsmanship.
