Overview

Ciwei Auto is a Chinese new energy vehicle brand, affiliated with Xiamen Sanwu New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd., operated by the subsidiary of the listed company 30 Interactive Internet Technology Co., Ltd. (Stock Code 300051). The brand was officially founded in 2014, with its headquarters located in Xiamen City, Fujian Province. The brand is positioned to build a smart travel operation platform and Internet sales system for new energy vehicles, dedicated to providing consumers with high-performance smart connected electric vehicle travel experiences centered on technologies such as smart connectivity, AI, big data, and voice semantic recognition. The brand's Chinese name "小猬 (Little Hedgehog)" is derived from the concrete interpretation of the "Hedgehog Concept", meaning various cumbersome scenarios in driving are contextualized and personalized, transforming complex functions into simple control and experience.

The brand logo consists of a simple line drawing of a little hedgehog pattern, with the hedgehog's body filled against a black background, the design is simple yet approachable, symbolizing the brand's spirit of striving forward.

History

The development path of Ciwei Auto carries distinct cross-industry Internet characteristics. In 2014, founder Gong Shaohui invested his personal savings of over twenty years into new energy vehicle R&D, officially founding Ciwei Auto. On May 12, 2016, the brand operating entity Xiamen Sanwu New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd. was formally registered, with registered capital of 65.299459 million RMB, with Gong Shaohui serving as the Legal Representative.

In April 2018, Hedgehog Auto held a brand launch event, and the first model "Simai" made its public debut, positioned as a pure electric small SUV. The model was a product of a small facelift based on the Yundu π3, marking Hedgehog Auto's formal entry into the public eye as a new force in "Internet car making". That same year, Ciwei Auto signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement with Karry Auto under Chery Holdings, with Karry New Energy as the exclusive general distributor for Hedgehog Auto, establishing long-term cooperation in the three-electric systems, supply chain management, and sales and after-sales services.

In February 2019, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology declaration images for the brand's second model, Ciwei EV400, were exposed. The vehicle was deeply modified based on the Karry K60, and the submission materials speculated its combined range could reach 400 km. On December 5, 2019, Hedgehog Auto announced that Ciwei Auto would officially go into mass production, with official estimates expecting annual production and sales of over 50,000 vehicles in 2020. The first mass-produced model was a 7-seat MPV, claimed to be "Charge for 10 minutes, travel 400 li (200 km)", namely the Ciwei EV400.

Entering the late 2020s, with the subsidiary 30 Interactive Internet Technology's declining performance and the severe reshuffling of the new energy car making industry landscape, Ciwei Auto's market presence significantly weakened. As of 2026, all major models under Ciwei Auto have withdrawn from the market, and the brand is in a de facto standstill status.

Product Portfolio

Ciwei Auto brand has a total of two mass-produced planned models: Simai and Ciwei EV400.

Simai: The brand's first model, debuted at the April 2018 brand launch event. The vehicle is positioned as a pure electric small SUV, modified from Yundu π3. Regarding body dimensions, the NEDC combined cycle range for the π3 Pro is 360 km, with a 60 km/h constant speed range up to 500 km. Under DC fast charging conditions, the vehicle charge level from 30% to 80% takes half an hour; fast charging for half an hour can charge 80%, while slow charging takes 8 hours. Simai emphasizes the smart human-vehicle interaction concept, introducing Blockchain technology and the concept of connecting smart cars, positioned as the first new energy vehicle for Chinese white-collar workers.

Ciwei EV400: A pure electric multi-purpose passenger car under Ciwei Auto, announcement model SQR6465BEVK09, seat count 7 seats, Origin: Chinese. The vehicle is built based on Karry Auto K60. Regarding appearance, it uses a closed front grille design, headlight styling remains highly consistent with the K60, the chrome decorative strip connecting the two taillights on the rear tail is removed, a brand new style decorative strip is added to the license plate area, and the "Hedgehog Auto" Logo is pasted. Body dimensions Length x Width x Height are 4650mm x 1790mm x 1760 (1780) mm, Wheelbase 2765mm. Seat layout is 2+2+3 configuration, front seats can slide forward 180 mm, backward 20 mm; second-row seats can slide forward 90 mm as a whole; third-row seat backrest can be folded flat and then flipped upright.

Regarding power, the Ciwei EV400 is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 80kW, peak torque approximately 240 Nm, maximum speed 120 km/h. The battery uses Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese Lithium (Ternary Lithium) battery, battery system energy density is between 141 Wh/kg to 165.42 Wh/kg, NEDC combined cycle driving range is 301 km. Vehicle curb weight is approximately 1611 kg, passability parameters such as approach angle, departure angle, and minimum ground clearance are basically consistent with the prototype. The ABS system is provided by Bosch Automotive Components (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., battery cells and assemblies are supplied by Changsha Junengchong New Energy Co., Ltd. and Hunan Haiboruide Electric Intelligence Control Technology Co., Ltd. respectively.

Ciwei EV400 launched multiple configuration versions, including basic, luxury, etc., equipped with optional configurations such as panoramic sunroof, daytime running lights, front radar, wheel rim design, roof rack, rear parking radar, etc. Autohome parameter configuration page shows that the Manufacturer's suggested retail price for Ciwei EV400 is marked as "Price unavailable", and Dealer reference price is also unavailable to query. Currently, Ciwei EV400 is in a discontinued status.

Market Performance

Ciwei Auto's market performance presents distinct characteristics of "High-profile launch, low-key exit". The brand formal mass production announcement was in late 2019, which was exactly the cycle of new energy car making new forces accelerating elimination. In 2019, NIO, WM Motor, XPeng and other top new forces' full-year delivery volumes were 20,565 vehicles, 16,876 vehicles, and 16,608 vehicles respectively, while Ciwei Auto's shouted annual production and sales target of 2020 was as high as over 50,000 vehicles. This target is extremely ambitious even among top new forces, appearing unrealistic for Hedgehog Auto which had just completed the mass production of its first model.

The brand's market sales data is extremely limited; actual terminal delivery records for Ciwei EV400 cannot be queried via public channels. The operating status of parent company Xiamen Sanwu New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd. is marked as "Active" in business registration, but insured personnel data is missing, and actual operating scale is difficult to confirm. The brand failed to form a sustained market presence after the product launch, and subsequent new model R&D plans were not seen to advance.

Technology and Innovation

The core technology promoted by Ciwei Auto was the "Dual Gun Super Fast Charging Technology". Officially claimed that this technology can fastest achieve a full charge in 15 minutes with 46 kWh of electricity (NEDC range 301 km), and has passed not less than 3,000 cycle charging tests. Calculated according to promotional data, the battery can meet ordinary family vehicle 40 years of cycle charging, with battery degradation to remaining 80%; if calculated by operating vehicle once-a-day charging, it can also meet 8 years of daily cycle charging. This technology aims to solve the charging anxiety and range anxiety problems of new energy vehicles from a system level.

In terms of production and manufacturing, Ciwei Auto adopts a fully OEM asset-light model. The brand has no own factory; the first model Simai is based on Yundu π3 modification, and the second model Ciwei EV400 is built based on Chery Karry K60, its chassis platform is speculated to be derived from Chery iAuto platform. iAuto platform is Chery's earliest core technology conceptual platform, consisting of CLOUDRIVE Smart Cloud Entertainment Driving System, ACTECO Smart Efficiency Powertrain System, and CHERYSMA Smart Balance Whole Vehicle Lean System.

Additionally, Ciwei Auto took smart connectivity technology as a core selling point, emphasizing converting complex functions such as AI, big data, speech and semantics judgment into simple control experiences, aiming to provide an ultimate smart travel experience.

Global Presence

Ciwei Auto's overseas layout is extremely limited in public records. The business scope of parent company Xiamen Sanwu New Energy Vehicle includes "Operating import and export of various commodities and technologies" and "Operating export business for self-produced products and importing business for machinery, parts, raw materials required by the enterprise". There are no clear records of whole vehicle bulk export or overseas factory construction at the brand level. The brand has not participated in any International Class A auto shows, nor established overseas sales networks or authorized dealership systems.

Future Strategy

Ciwei Auto's development prospects exist with high uncertainty. Parent company 30 Interactive Internet Technology Co., Ltd. faced significant performance pressure and delisting risk around 2020; according to 2020 media reports, its net profit decline was close to 300%, with risk of delisting. The deterioration of listed company operating conditions will inevitably seriously constrain the R&D investment and production expansion of subsidiary brand Ciwei Auto.

From the industry landscape perspective, Chinese new energy car making new forces underwent large-scale reshuffling around 2020. Among over 100 startups, only over a dozen successfully realized deliveries. As new energy vehicle subsidies gradually phase out and industry competition intensifies, market share became highly concentrated towards top enterprises. Ciwei Auto, as a marginal new force lacking own capacity, relying on OEM model, and with limited brand awareness, faces huge survival tests in such fierce market competition.

As of 2026, all major models under Ciwei Auto have been discontinued, the brand official channels have no new model launch plans, nor public information on strategic restructuring or financing progress. The brand's prospects likely depend on the operational recovery status of parent company 30 Interactive Internet Technology and whether it can find new strategic investors for restructuring. If unable to obtain new capital injection and product iteration capability, Ciwei Auto will likely, like many early car making new forces, gradually fade out of the market and become a historical footnote of the early exploration phase of China's new energy vehicle industry.
