China Touring Car Championship (CTCC)

Definition and History
The China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) is a premier national-level touring car racing championship organised by the Federation of Automobile and Motorcycle Sports of China (CAMF) and sanctioned by the FIA. Originating from the China Circuit Championship (CCC) founded in 2004, the series was officially rebranded as CTCC in 2009 after Lisheng Sports took over promotional duties. Designated as a Class-A sporting event under the General Administration of Sport of China's annual calendar, it serves as the most prominent national touring car racing platform in Chinese motorsport. In 2011, the CTCC season finale shared the grid with the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) for the first time, marking the start of its alignment with international racing standards. For the 2026 season, the championship operates under the title "Xiaomi · CTCC China Circuit Pro League".

Competition Structure and Class Categories
CTCC currently adopts a multi-tiered racing structure. The flagship category is TCR China, which adheres to globally recognised TCR technical regulations. Built on production four-door sedans, these race cars are powered by production-derived 2.0-litre turbocharged engines producing approximately 350 hp, paired with a 6-speed sequential gearbox in a front-wheel-drive configuration. Another cornerstone class is the CTCC China Cup, fielding both TCR race machines and club-modified production sedans. This is further divided into sub-classes including TCR, TCS, TC1, TC2, and TC3, covering full-spec TCR machinery to 1.4T, 1.5T, and 2.0T modified production cars. Race weekends also integrate support series such as the One Lap Fame Challenge and the Hyundai N Cup one-make series, creating a comprehensive multi-category racing programme.

2026 Season Overview
The 2026 CTCC calendar spans multiple rounds across Ningbo International Circuit, Ordos International Circuit, Shanghai International Circuit, and Zhuzhou International Circuit. Round 4 at Shanghai Jiading brought together four major series: TCR China, CTCC China Cup, CTCC One Lap Fame Challenge, and the Hyundai N Cup. The event featured a record-breaking grid of 130 race cars, with the CTCC China Cup alone drawing an impressive 52 entries in a single round. Taihe T-Rex Arrizo Racing Team's Cui Yue mounted a thrilling comeback to claim overall victory and the TCS class title in the China Cup Open Class, while Lynk & Co Zongheng Racing Team dominated the Super Production category with a clean podium sweep in TC2.

Driver Lineup and Crossover Drivers
The 2026 CTCC driver roster features an exciting mix of seasoned professionals and celebrity drivers. Team Lynk & Co Teamwork Motorsport fielded a formidable lineup in TCR China comprising David Zhu, Zhang Zhiqiang, Sunny Wong, and Elvis Han. In the CTCC China Cup, SAIC Volkswagen 333 Racing, Lynk & Co Zongheng Racing Team, and Taihe T-Rex Arrizo Racing Team formed the primary works entries, flanked by competitive privateer outfits like Hunan Ji Ren Zi You Tian Xiang Racing Team, Beijing DTM Racing, and Ningbo GYT Racing. Celebrity drivers added further glamour to the season: Elvis Han completed a full-season campaign, securing a 3rd-place finish in the Shanghai round's Rookie Challenge Cup; Daniel Wu clinched his maiden CTCC podium with a 2nd-place finish in the same cup; while stars like Aaron Kwok, Timmy Xu, and Chen Xinhai also made high-profile appearances on the CTCC grid.

Championship Positioning and Competitive Features
CTCC race cars are developed and upgraded from commercially available road-going sedans, reflecting the most popular touring car models across both global and domestic scenes. Unlike GT racing with its supercar focus, the series stays closely attuned to the consumer automotive market in China. In terms of race format, TCR China features 55 km sprint races per round, whereas the CTCC China Cup runs on a timed 55-minute plus one lap format. Operating on a touring round basis, the championship visits key automotive consumer hubs across North, East, and South China, supported by extensive live broadcasts across television and digital streaming platforms. It remains China's premier national motorsport championship in terms of spectator engagement and commercial reach.
