Car accessories (Automotive Interior & Exterior Accessories) refer to various aftermarket add-ons fitted inside the cabin or on the vehicle exterior, designed to enhance aesthetics, optimise cabin practicality, improve occupant comfort, and add personalised touches. As an essential segment connecting driver-vehicle interaction and fulfilling individual lifestyle needs, car accessories encompass a broad product ecosystem ranging from functional cabin items to exterior protective components.

Core Categories and Functional Features

Based on their mounting locations and primary purposes, car accessories are mainly divided into two key categories:

Cabin Interior Functional & Aesthetic Accessories (Interior Accessories):

These include car perfumes and air fresheners, dashboard ornaments, storage organisers, anti-slip mats, side sill scuff plates, and various sunshade protectors. The core purpose of these accessories is to improve cabin air quality, enhance storage organisation, prevent items from sliding around during transit, and create a more premium, tactile, and visually appealing driving environment.

Exterior Protective & Styling Accessories (Exterior Accessories):

These include mud flaps, door visors, bumper/door protector strips, number plate frames, and boot mats or trays. This category primarily focuses on shielding exterior paintwork against minor scratches, keeping out mud, road grime, and rainwater, maintaining aerodynamic balance, and ensuring the vehicle's road-legal compliance and neat appearance.

Safety Standards and Physical Constraints

Because aftermarket accessories directly impact a vehicle's passive safety, structural integrity, and driver visibility, their selection and day-to-day use must strictly adhere to automotive engineering safety standards:

Strict Prohibition of Interference with Safety Systems and Visibility (Safety System & Sightline Clearance):

All interior accessories (such as dashboard ornaments, anti-slip pads, and hanging items) are strictly prohibited from intruding into or blocking the deployment pathways of airbags (especially frontal, side, and curtain airbags). Likewise, windscreen sunshades, door visors, and side window trims must never obstruct the driver’s direct front or peripheral wide-angle field of view while driving, ensuring completely clear sightlines of the road and side mirrors at all times.

Prevention of Structural Damage and Detachment Hazards (Structural Integrity & Detachment Prevention):

Both interior and exterior accessories must be fitted securely and reliably to prevent double-sided tape from degrading under prolonged sun exposure and heat, which could lead to parts detaching at highway speeds. Furthermore, the installation of any accessory must never damage original door weatherstrips, drainage holes, vehicle crumple zones, or factory wiring harnesses, thereby preventing cabin water leaks, electrical short circuits, or compromises to the vehicle's crash energy dissipation paths.
