Model Overview

The Bentley Flying Spur is a full-size four-door luxury saloon from British ultra-luxury marque Bentley, positioned between the brand's flagship Mulsanne saloon (now discontinued) and the Continental GT two-door grand tourer, with a core philosophy of "combining performance-oriented handling with four-door saloon comfort". The Flying Spur moniker originates from the family crest of Arthur Talbot Johnstone, managing director of renowned coachbuilder H.J. Mulliner, with the first model bearing the name debuting in 1957. In 2005, Bentley launched the Continental Flying Spur as the four-door sibling to the Continental GT. In 2013, the second-generation Flying Spur was unveiled, emerging as an independent model line for the first time. The Flying Spur currently on sale is the third-generation model that debuted in 2019, which received its mid-cycle facelift in September 2024.
In the Chinese market, the 2026 Flying Spur range is exclusively powered by a V8 plug-in hybrid system, with pure petrol variants delisted from Bentley China's official website. The 2026 Flying Spur PHEV is available in four variants, priced between RM2,855,000 and RM3,936,000. In Taiwan, the 2026 Flying Spur V8 Hybrid carries a starting recommended retail price of RM13,800,000.
Design Language
In terms of styling, the Flying Spur retains Bentley’s signature design DNA. Up front, it features a large, upright mesh grille flanked by iconic circular headlamp clusters. The refreshed Flying Spur launched in June 2026 introduced a major design shift—the entire lineup now adopts single headlamp clusters, breaking Bentley’s tradition of quad round headlamps on four-door saloons since 1962, aligning its design language with the fourth-generation Continental GT. The front grille and bumper are seamlessly integrated, while the front wing vents have been deleted to achieve a cleaner, sleeker side profile.
Dimension-wise, it measures approximately 5,316 mm in length, 1,998 mm in width, and 1,484 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,194 mm. The rear end continues the minimalist luxury theme, featuring redesigned tail lights and a body-coloured number plate surround. A bespoke Marble Green exterior paint finish has also been introduced, infused with fine metallic flakes.
Inside, the Flying Spur continues to showcase Bentley’s pinnacle handcrafted craftsmanship. The cabin is upholstered in handcrafted Nappa leather. Each seat requires 12 hours of artisan stitching and is available in five bespoke luxury styles. A total of 350 leather pieces are meticulously stitched by 141 craftsmen. For interior veneers, 28 genuine wood options are available.
Powertrain and Performance
The entire 2026 Flying Spur lineup is driven by a plug-in hybrid powertrain pairing a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with an electric motor. It is offered in two states of tune depending on the variant:
Flying Spur Standard and Azure: Combined system output of 680 hp and 930 Nm of torque, completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.9 seconds en route to a top speed of 270 km/h.
Flying Spur Speed and Mulliner: Combined system output is tuned up to 782 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque, cutting the 0-100 km/h acceleration time to 3.5 seconds with a top speed of 285 km/h.
The S variant does 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 308 km/h. Power is routed through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT) to an active all-wheel drive system. Energy is stored in a 25.9 kWh battery pack, delivering a pure electric range of up to 76 km (WLTP cycle) and a total combined range of 829 km. It supports 11 kW AC charging, taking around 2.75 hours for a full charge.
Chassis and Handling
Under the skin, the Flying Spur rides on front double-wishbone and rear multi-link independent suspension setups, featuring air suspension at both ends. The Speed and Mulliner variants come equipped with the Bentley Performance Active Chassis system, integrating three core components: an electronic limited-slip differential (eLSD) for rear-axle torque vectoring, twin-valve dampers offering independent compression and rebound damping control, and a world-first 48V active anti-roll system that applies counter-torque to eliminate body roll during cornering. All-wheel steering is also included. The Bentley Performance Active Chassis is now available on the Flying Spur S. Weight distribution is rated at 48.3:51.7 front-to-rear, further enhancing dynamic handling.
Cabin and Features
In the cabin, the Flying Spur comes standard with a 12.3-inch central touchscreen and a fully digital instrument cluster, featuring voice control for multimedia, navigation, and telephony. The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity. For audiophiles, the Virtuoso Edition is fitted with a Naim for Mulliner premium audio system boasting 21 bespoke speakers. Both front and rear seats are equipped with heating, ventilation, and massage functions as standard. Boot capacity stands at 346 litres.
Safety and Driver Assistance
On the safety front, the Flying Spur is equipped with passive safety systems including driver and front passenger airbags, front side airbags, and front/rear curtain airbags. Active safety is handled by a Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), which includes full-speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), and Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR). The 2025 model year adds a 360-degree top-view camera, welcome puddle lighting, auto-dimming mirrors, and an air ioniser as standard. Remote automated parking via smartphone is also supported.
Market Performance and Reception
The Flying Spur remains a core sales pillar for the Bentley marque. Across 2025, Bentley delivered 715 units of the Flying Spur in the Chinese market. From January to May 2025, with 267 units sold, it ranked second in sales among ultra-luxury models priced above RM2,000,000, trailing only its stablemate, the Bentayga (408 units). In the first three quarters of 2024, Chinese sales of the Flying Spur reached 716 units. Globally, the Flying Spur consistently accounts for over 20% of Bentley’s total sales.
In terms of powertrain mix, PHEV variants now make up 30% of Flying Spur sales, surging to 65% in the UK market—demonstrating strong momentum in the brand's electrification journey. Industry analysts view the Mercedes-Maybach S-Class as the Flying Spur’s primary rival. Compared to its peers, the Flying Spur S stands out as the most potent performer in its class with 680 hp and a 3.7-second 0-100 km/h sprint, while being the only model underpinned by a V8 PHEV architecture. Overall, as Bentley’s sole four-door saloon on sale, the Flying Spur carves out a distinct sporty-executive niche in the ultra-luxury segment with its V8 plug-in hybrid powertrain, mastercrafted interior, and high-performance active chassis.
