Model Overview

The Audi Q3 is a premium compact SUV produced under FAW-Volkswagen Audi. Since its local debut in 2013, backed by Audi's luxury heritage and solid German build quality, it has established itself as a favoured entry-level premium SUV for younger buyers. In December 2025, the 2026 Audi Q3 range officially went on sale. The standard Q3 45th Anniversary Edition is offered in 4 variants with an official retail price ranging from RM251,800 to RM296,800, while the Q3 Sportback coupe-SUV is available in 3 variants priced between RM263,800 and RM301,800. As a model-year refresh, the 2026 lineup drops the Design and RS Edition trims, making the sporty Dynamic styling package standard across the range. Key segment rivals include premium compact SUVs such as the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA, and Cadillac XT4.
Design Language
The 2026 Audi Q3 retains the current model's design ethos. Up front, it features the brand's signature octagonal Singleframe grille with a horizontal Y-pattern mesh insert, flanked by standard polygonal LED headlamps across the range, while the flagship variant gains Matrix LED units. At the rear, it gets a concealed exhaust setup complemented by twin exhaust garnish finishers. In terms of dimensions, the standard Q3 measures 4,498 mm long, 1,848 mm wide, and 1,614 mm tall with a 2,680 mm wheelbase, while the Q3 Sportback comes in at 4,516/1,843/1,569 mm, sharing the same 2,680 mm wheelbase. Inside, the 2026 cabin layout remains unchanged, featuring a 10.1-inch MMI infotainment touchscreen paired with a 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit fully digital instrument cluster, with gear selection still managed by a traditional mechanical gear shifter. Upholstered in suede-like microfibre material, standard kit includes powered front sports seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and tri-zone automatic climate control.
Powertrain and Performance
The 2026 Audi Q3 is offered with three powertrain choices: a 1.5T and two 2.0T states of tune (low and high output). The entry-level 35TFSI is powered by a 1.5-litre turbo engine developing 118 kW (160 PS) and 250 Nm of torque. The mid-spec 40TFSI employs a low-output 2.0-litre turbo mill producing 137 kW (186 PS) and 320 Nm, while the range-topping 45TFSI packs a high-output 2.0-litre turbo churning out 162 kW (220 PS) and 350 Nm. All engines are paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (S tronic). The 1.5T and 2.0T low-output variants are front-wheel drive, whereas the 2.0T high-output model comes standard with the quattro all-wheel-drive system, completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.3 seconds.
Chassis and Handling
Under the skin, the Audi Q3 rides on a front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link independent suspension setup. The chassis is tuned for a firm, sporty feel, offering commendable body control and lateral stability through high-speed corners alongside linear steering feedback; however, rear occupants may notice some bounce over uneven surfaces. Higher variants can be optioned with adaptive damping featuring twin-valve control technology, which independently manages rebound and compression damping. The quattro AWD system intelligently distributes drive torque between the front and rear axles on the fly. Tyre sizes include 235/55 R18 and 235/50 R19 options.
Cabin and Equipment
The 2026 Audi Q3 gets a 10.1-inch MMI touchscreen display and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as standard across most of the range (with the exception of the entry-level 35TFSI Dynamic variant). It runs on the latest-generation MIB infotainment system with 4G connectivity, supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. For 2026, a reverse camera and Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) have been made standard across the entire lineup, while mid-spec variants and above gain Adaptive Cruise Control and an automated parking system. In terms of creature comforts, a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, electric front seats, and tri-zone climate control are standard throughout. Matrix LED headlamps, 19-inch alloys, and a 360-degree surround-view monitor remain available as options. Boot capacity is rated at 488 litres in standard form, expandable via 40:20:40 split-folding rear seats.
Safety and Driver Assistance
On the safety front, the Audi Q3 comes well-equipped with comprehensive active and passive safety features, including Auto Park, Auto Brake Hold, Hill-Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, driver's knee airbag, side curtain airbags, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), driver fatigue alert, and Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS) . Forward Collision Warning (FCW) and Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) are fitted as standard across the range, with Blind Spot Monitoring (Lane Change Assist) available as an option on selected variants. The driver assistance suite also features Adaptive Cruise Assist, turn-signal-activated lane change assist, memory parking (with up to 50 metres of path memory), and AEB. According to industry reports, the next-generation domestic Audi Q3 will feature advanced driver assistance systems developed in collaboration with Huawei.
Market Performance and Outlook
The Audi Q3 has delivered a steady performance in the Chinese market. In November 2025, domestic sales of the Q3 stood at 3,098 units, while the Q3 Sportback registered 212 units in the same month, bringing cumulative 2025 sales to approximately 34,000 units. As an annual update, the 2026 model sees minimal styling changes, relying on minor equipment enhancements to maintain market appeal. At the dealership level, hefty discounts on the current Q3 have seen starting prices dip into the RM160,000 bracket in selected regions. In the meantime, the next-generation Audi Q3L has already surfaced in China's MIIT homologation filings. The upcoming model boasts a wheelbase stretched by 111 mm to 2,791 mm, overall dimensions expanding to 4,643/1,862/1,623 mm, and incorporates Audi's latest global design language alongside the familiar 1.5T and 2.0T (low/high output) engine lineup. The arrival of the all-new long-wheelbase Q3L will significantly boost rear passenger room, which is poised to sharpen Audi's competitive edge in the premium compact SUV segment.
