2026-10-04 22:30:00

Model Overview

The Audi A6L is FAW-Volkswagen Audi's flagship C-segment executive luxury sedan. Since the domestic introduction of the Audi 100 in 1988 and the pioneering debut of the China-exclusive long-wheelbase format in 1999, spanning nine generations of heritage, its cumulative customer base in China has surpassed 3 million units. On 25 March 2026, the all-new generation Audi A6L (code-named C9) officially went on sale, built on Audi's Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) luxury ICE intelligent architecture. A total of four variants are available across the range, with official recommended retail prices spanning RM322,900 to RM435,900, representing a price reduction of over RM100,000 compared to the previous-generation model. Guided by the philosophy of "equal intelligence across petrol and electric vehicles", the new model delivers comprehensive leaps across design, luxury, driving dynamics, and smart technology, directly targeting key rivals such as the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class.

Design Language

The all-new Audi A6L departs completely from its previously conservative and understated styling, fully embracing a sharper, more youthful and dynamic aesthetic. The roofline takes cues from the classic arched curve of the Audi TT sports car, adopting a "high apex + sleek fastback" profile that optimizes headroom while retaining the graceful proportions of an executive sedan. For the first time, the model introduces dual exterior styling packages simultaneously—Design and Sport: the Design trim features tasteful chrome accents to project an elegant, stately presence, while the Sport trim delivers an aggressive edge through a gloss black optic package and sharp body lines. Dimensions have grown across the board, measuring 5,142 × 1,887 × 1,464 mm with a wheelbase of 3,066 mm, marking an increase of 92 mm in overall length and 42 mm in wheelbase over its predecessor. In terms of lighting technology, it features class-leading Digital Matrix LED headlights (48 LED units per side), with metallic decorative trims integrated into the light housing for the first time; the rear adopts second-generation OLED split taillights for the first time, housing 198 OLED light-emitting units per side that support 8 customizable light signatures and Car-to-X communication capabilities. Five exterior paint options are available, with Champagne Black, Deep Ocean Blue, and Mandalore Silver exclusively tailored for the Chinese market.

Powertrain and Performance

The all-new Audi A6L is offered with three distinct powertrain configurations. The 2.0T low-output (150 kW / 204 PS, 340 Nm) features an optimized Miller cycle and a Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG) turbocharger, completing the 0-100 km/h sprint in approximately 8 seconds. The 2.0T high-output (200 kW / 272 PS, 400 Nm) is built on the 5th-generation EA888 engine, combining VTG variable-geometry turbocharging with 500-bar high-pressure direct fuel injection, complemented by a 48V mild-hybrid system to achieve an impressive thermal efficiency of 39.4%. The range-topping 3.0T V6 (270 kW / 367 PS, 550 Nm) is powered by the next-generation EA839 engine, equipped with an HDI dual-motor intelligent hybrid system (P0+P3 parallel architecture), achieving 0-100 km/h in just 4.6 seconds. The entire lineup is paired with a 7-speed wet dual-clutch transmission (DCT), delivering WLTC combined fuel consumption as low as 6.59 L/100 km for 2.0T variants and 6.87 L/100 km for the 3.0T model.

Chassis and Handling

Built on the PPC platform jointly developed by Audi and Porsche, the all-new Audi A6L rides on front and rear five-link independent suspension. The front suspension links are crafted entirely from forged aluminium, while the rear suspension control arms make extensive use of aluminium alloy to reduce unsprung mass and sharpen suspension response. Higher-spec 2.0T variants can be optioned with adaptive air suspension (priced at RM16,000), offering dynamic chassis damping and ride height adjustment. Audi's signature quattro intelligent all-wheel drive system comes standard, providing fully variable torque distribution between the front and rear axles. The progressive steering system sharpens feedback as steering input increases to deliver an engaging driving experience. In addition, top-tier variants offer optional all-wheel steering, significantly boosting agility for this executive sedan that stretches over 5.1 metres in length.

Cabin and Equipment

Centred around "Digital Luxury", the all-new Audi A6L features an advanced five-screen interconnected intelligent cockpit: an 11.9-inch Audi virtual cockpit, a 14.5-inch MMI panoramic display, an optional 10.9-inch front passenger entertainment screen (with privacy mode to eliminate driver distraction), a 13.1-inch W-HUD head-up display, and seamless smartphone display integration. The infotainment system is driven by the flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip and supports high-speed 5G connectivity. The "Hi Audi" intelligent voice assistant responds in just 0.2 seconds, supporting continuous dialogue, multi-zone voice command, and dialect recognition. Inside the cabin, the ultra-long 3,066 mm wheelbase creates an exceptionally spacious executive environment; the bespoke luxury seats developed specifically for Chinese customers offer 18-way power adjustment alongside heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Overhead, the cabin is fitted with a 1.96-square-metre nine-zone intelligent panoramic glass roof and a starry sky headliner featuring 112 RGB LEDs, paired with an immersive 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen 3D sound system.

Safety and Intelligent Driving

Intelligent driving capability marks the standout upgrade for this generation. The all-new Audi A6L is equipped with the Qiankun smart driving system co-developed with Huawei, featuring class-exclusive dual LiDAR sensors as part of a 33-sensor high-precision suite. The system comprehensively supports end-to-end driving assistance features, including Urban NOA, Highway NOA, and multi-level memory valet parking. The Huawei Qiankun system works in seamless synergy with Audi's Vehicle Motion Management (VMM) module, harmonizing smart driving commands with the powertrain, steering, and braking systems. An industry-first sensor heating and wash system guarantees reliable autonomous driving performance even under heavy rain, snow, or dense haze. On the active safety front, LiDAR-enhanced AEB and other driver assistance systems are comprehensively fitted. In terms of passive safety, the high-rigidity PPC body structure and multiple SRS airbags provide all-round crash protection for occupants.

Market Performance and Reception

The Audi A6L remains the perennial sales champion in China's executive luxury sedan market. With full-year sales hitting 172,000 units in 2025, it once again retained the crown as the best-selling executive luxury sedan. Starting from RM322,900, the 2026 all-new A6L is priced over RM100,000 lower than its predecessor, undercutting key competitors like the BMW 5 Series (from RM368,000) and Mercedes-Benz E-Class (from RM378,800) by RM40,000 to RM50,000. Industry reviews note that through Huawei Qiankun intelligent driving, the return of 3.0T V6 power, and the thoroughly overhauled PPC platform, the all-new A6L has achieved a truly transformative upgrade in overall product strength. Its core competitive edge stems from the generous rear legroom afforded by its ultra-long 3,066 mm wheelbase, blistering 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds V6 performance, high-end autonomy from the Huawei Qiankun intelligent driving system, and an aggressive pricing strategy. As an executive luxury benchmark with 38 years of market presence in China and over 3 million owners, the all-new Audi A6L is set to open an exciting new chapter in the luxury executive segment with its dual-pronged strategy of "high specifications at competitive pricing" and "equal intelligence across petrol and electric".
