Aston Martin Vantage

2026-10-07 08:10:00

Model Overview

The Aston Martin Vantage is a two-door grand tourer (GT) from the British ultra-luxury marque, standing as one of the longest-running nameplates in the brand's history. The Vantage moniker dates back to 1950, originally introduced as a performance upgrade pack for the DB2; in 1964, it evolved into a high-performance derivative of the DB5; it subsequently matured into an independent model line, remaining deeply rooted in pure driving DNA.

On 12 February 2024, Aston Martin officially took the wraps off the all-new generation Vantage. Taking design cues from the DB12—the "world's first Super Tourer"—the new model undergoes a comprehensive overhaul across its powertrain, chassis, and cabin. In the Chinese market, the all-new Vantage made its official market debut on the evening of 19 April 2024. As of June 2026, the Vantage lineup is offered in two variants: the standard Vantage and the high-performance Vantage S. In Taiwan, China, the recommended retail price for the 2026 Vantage starts from RM11,680,000, with the Vantage S priced from RM11,980,000; in mainland China, the 2026 V8 Vantage S Coupe carries an official retail price of RM1,858,000. Key rivals to the Vantage include the Porsche 911 and Ferrari Roma.

Design Language

The all-new Vantage embraces Aston Martin's latest signature design language, echoing the aesthetic of the flagship DB12 Super Tourer. Up front, the most striking revision is the iconic re-profiled front grille, enlarged by 38% over its predecessor and finished with either horizontal chrome strakes or a black honeycomb mesh. The redesigned Matrix LED headlights feature a vertical housing layout paired with sweeping integrated daytime running light (DRL) brows for a more menacing gaze. The bonnet retains sculpted power bulges flanked by dual longitudinal heat extraction vents, complemented by a lower, broader front splitter.

In profile, the car retains the quintessential Vantage stance with a long bonnet and stubby rear deck proportions. Prominent side strakes and air vents grace the front fenders, flanked by 21-inch forged alloy wheels as standard. Dimension-wise, it measures 4,495 mm in length, 1,980 mm in width (2,124 mm with wing mirrors extended), and 1,275 mm in height, riding on a 2,705 mm wheelbase. At the rear, high-mounted full-width LED light blades are matched with quad exhaust tailpipes and a prominent aerodynamic diffuser. Clear lenses with smoked inner housings now replace the previous red clusters. The car is available in three core liveries and a palette of 21 exterior paint colours.

Inside, the all-new Vantage takes heavy inspiration from the DB12's thoroughly modernized cockpit. The dashboard features a clean, horizontal architecture that exudes muscular sophistication. Taking centre stage are twin 10.25-inch displays comprising a digital instrument cluster and a central infotainment touchscreen. Crucially, the centre console preserves an array of tactile physical switches and an exquisite gear selector toggle. The seat adjustment switchgear remains positioned on the sides of the centre tunnel. Sumptuous Alcantara upholstery trims the cabin alongside heavily bolstered sports seats. The Vantage S variant comes standard with the "Accelerate" interior theme combining Alcantara and premium leather with exposed carbon-fibre inlays.

Powertrain and Performance

Powering the all-new Vantage is a Mercedes-AMG-sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 (engine code 177950), bespoke-tuned by Aston Martin's engineering division. It churns out a massive 665 PS (489 kW / 665 hp) and 800 Nm of peak torque. That represents a substantial jump of 153 PS (+30%) and 115 Nm (+15%) over the outgoing model. This monumental output leap comes courtesy of revised camshaft profiles, larger turbochargers, an optimised compression ratio, and three additional dedicated heat exchangers managing coolant, engine oil, and charged intake air temperatures. The all-aluminium unit features a "Hot V" setup and screams all the way to a 7,000 rpm redline.

Power is channelled to the rear wheels via a rear-mid-mounted ZF 8-speed automatic transaxle linked by a lightweight carbon-fibre propshaft. The final drive ratio has been shortened to 3.083:1. This front-mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive GT dispatches the 0–100 km/h century sprint in just 3.5 seconds; the Vantage S trims it down to 3.4 seconds. Top speed stands at 325 km/h. Fitted for the first time is a dedicated Launch Control system, allowing drivers to dial in wheel slip across 9 selectable intervention stages via the Adjustable Traction Control (ATC) system. Combined fuel consumption is rated at 12.1 litres/100 km, with CO₂ emissions at 275 g/km.

Chassis and Handling

Underneath, the all-new Vantage is constructed on Aston Martin's bonded aluminium structure. Strategic undertray stiffening and additional cross-bracing deliver a 7% increase in global torsional rigidity. The chassis rides on front double-wishbones and a rear multi-link independent suspension setup. It is equipped with Bilstein DTX adaptive dampers that offer a 500% increase in damping force bandwidth for greater dynamic breadth and faster response. A repositioned front crossmember also boosts mounting point stiffness, sharpening front-end steering precision and road feel.

Steering is handled by a variable electric power-assisted rack-and-pinion setup with a quick 12.8:1 ratio and 2.27 turns lock-to-lock. A non-isolated steering column ensures uncorrupted, direct communication between driver inputs, vehicle attitude, and tarmac feedback. Braking power comes standard via 400 mm front grooved and ventilated cast-iron discs clamped by six-piston calipers, and 360 mm rear discs with four-piston calipers; an optional Carbon Ceramic Brake (CCB) kit shaves off 27 kg of unsprung mass. An electronic rear differential (E-Diff), intricately linked with the ESP system, dynamically optimises traction and cornering stability. The Vantage S further upgrades suspension hardware, powertrain mounts, and calibration maps, featuring a solidly mounted rear subframe (bypassing rubber bushings) for razor-sharp turn-in and unfiltered feedback. The car boasts a near-flawless 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution.

Cabin and Features

The all-new Vantage is the second model after the DB12 to feature Aston Martin's in-house next-generation infotainment suite. It centres around a 10.25-inch "Pure Black" capacitive touchscreen (1970×720 resolution) supporting multi-touch gesture control. The full digital instrument cluster is of the same 10.25-inch size. The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity.

Audiophiles are treated to a standard 390-watt, 11-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system; an optional flagship 1,170-watt, 15-speaker surround sound setup is available, equipped with aluminium double-dome tweeters and Continuum cone mid-range units. The sports seats offer 16-way power adjustment. Seat heating comes standard. In the Vantage S, each "S" emblem embroidered onto the seat backrest requires nearly 2,500 precision stitches. Boot capacity is rated at 350 litres. The cabin is configured as a dedicated two-seater (standard) or a nominal 2+2 layout. Cabin climate is governed by a dual-zone automatic climate control system.

Safety and Intelligent Driving

On the passive safety front, the Vantage comes standard with driver and front passenger airbags, front side airbags, full-length curtain airbags, driver/passenger knee airbags, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Active safety kit includes Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Emergency Brake Assist (EBA), Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Traction Control (TC), and Dynamic Torque Vectoring (DTV). The Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite bundles full-speed Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Blind Spot Assist (BSA), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Driver Drowsiness Detection, a 360-degree surround-view camera, and front/rear parking sensors. It also incorporates a cutting-edge 6D Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) that tracks 6-axis vehicle motion in real time for pinpoint ESP calibration.

Market Performance and Reception

The all-new Vantage has garnered widespread acclaim in global markets, with motoring media lauding its power surge as "impressive" and highlighting its poised, neutral chassis balance; critics widely hailed it as "a serious track machine whose skills match its sexy body". However, in the Chinese market, Aston Martin has faced significant sales pressure. Industry data revealed that between January and August 2024, the brand's sales in China plunged 47% year-on-year, culminating in an overall 49% full-year drop. To counter softening demand, Aston Martin rolled out an official price cut of RM450,000 for the new Vantage. Automotive analysts note that while the Vantage commands greater badge appeal than the AMG GT and packs higher engine displacement than the Porsche 911, its exterior and interior design language continues to divide opinion; meanwhile, its digital and smart tech ecosystem still trails certain rivals within the same price bracket.

Overall, as one of Gaydon's most venerable nameplates, the all-new Aston Martin Vantage marks a profound leap forward across performance, dynamics, and cabin luxury. Retaining its timeless front-mid-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout, an explosive 665 PS power plant, and an ideal 50:50 weight distribution, the Vantage cements its unmistakable British driving charm within the ultra-luxury GT sports car arena.
