The Acura ZDX is the first all-electric SUV launched by Honda's luxury marque, Acura. The original ZDX debuted in 2009 as an ICE crossover SUV and was phased out in 2013 due to lacklustre sales. In August 2023, Acura officially unveiled the second-generation ZDX at Monterey Car Week—a fully electric SUV built on General Motors' Ultium platform. Deliveries of the model commenced in North America in early 2024. As of June 2026, the ZDX BEV has officially ceased production.

Positioned as a pure electric D-segment luxury SUV, the ZDX marks the opening chapter of Acura's electrification journey. Key highlights include the Ultium platform co-developed with General Motors, an impressive output of up to 500 hp, and the hands-free driving assistance system featured on the Type S variant. The new model is offered in two variants, A-Spec and Type S, across four trim levels. The A-Spec variant is priced from USD 60,000 (approx. RM430,000), while the Type S starts at USD 70,000 (approx. RM500,000). The vehicle is built alongside the Cadillac LYRIQ at GM's Spring Hill manufacturing facility in Tennessee.
The exterior styling of the ZDX draws inspiration from the 2022 Acura Precision EV Concept. The front fascia retains the brand's signature Diamond Pentagon grille outline, featuring a closed-off design with illuminated surrounds to highlight its EV identity. Flanking the front are Jewel Eye™ LED headlights. The exterior sports a dual-tone colour scheme with a floating roof effect, while the Type S rolls on massive 22-inch alloy wheels—the largest factory-fitted wheels ever offered on an Acura. Round the back, it features 3D-sculpted LED light-blade taillights and a diffuser-integrated rear bumper.
Inside, the cabin adopts a driver-focused T-shaped cockpit layout. It comes equipped with an 11-inch fully digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch floating touchscreen infotainment display. The infotainment system runs on the latest Google built-in interface, integrating services such as Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play. To ensure seamless usability on the go, physical rotary dials for the climate control and audio volume are retained on the centre stack.
The entire ZDX range is powered by a 102 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The A-Spec variant is available in either a single-motor RWD or dual-motor AWD setup, with the single-motor model churning out 340 hp. The Type S is powered by a specially tuned dual-motor AWD system, delivering a combined output of 500 hp. Under the EPA test cycle, the single-motor RWD A-Spec delivers an electric range of 523 km (325 miles), the dual-motor AWD A-Spec achieves 507 km (315 miles), and the Type S is rated at 463 km (288 miles). On the charging front, it supports DC fast charging at up to 190 kW, enabling the A-Spec to recover around 130 km of range in just 10 minutes.
Riding on GM's Ultium platform, the ZDX features fully independent suspension all round. The A-Spec is fitted with a conventional coil-spring suspension setup, whereas the Type S gains height-adjustable air suspension with adaptive dampers. Handling the stopping power on the Type S are yellow Brembo six-piston front brake callipers paired with 15.6-inch front brake discs. The A-Spec rides on standard 20-inch wheels, while the Type S is upgraded to 22-inch rollers.
The ZDX is the first Acura to feature a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system. The audio setup boasts 18 speakers (including 4 headliner speakers), 14 acoustic channels, and a dedicated subwoofer. The infotainment suite supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto alongside the built-in Google ecosystem. In-cabin creature comforts include a wireless smartphone charger, dual-zone automatic climate control, and more. Owners can also access the Acura EV® mobile app for remote vehicle monitoring and instant customer concierge services.
The AcuraWatch™ advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) suite comes standard across the entire range. Key features include Autonomous Emergency Braking (front and rear), Blind Spot Information with Steering Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Rear Pedestrian Alert, Intelligent Speed Assist, and Auto High-Beam. The flagship Type S further adds the AcuraWatch™ 360+ hands-free driving assist system, allowing hands-free cruising on over 400,000 miles (approx. 640,000 km) of mapped highways across the US and Canada.
From its commercial rollout in early 2024 until its discontinuation in 2025, the ZDX struggled to meet sales expectations. Full-year sales for 2024 stood at just over 7,300 units, with cumulative figures reaching around 10,335 units by June 2025. By comparison, its platform siblings—the Honda Prologue and Cadillac LYRIQ—shifted 33,000 units and 28,000 units respectively over the same timeframe.
In September 2025, Acura officially confirmed the end of the road for the ZDX. The automaker noted that the ZDX served as a vital stepping stone, allowing the brand to gain crucial EV development experience for its next generation of pure EVs. Taking over its mantle is the all-new Acura RSX, which will be built on Honda's proprietary dedicated EV architecture and is scheduled to enter production at the Ohio EV Hub in the second half of 2026. While the ZDX failed to make a major commercial breakthrough as Acura's first electric SUV, its deployment of the Ultium architecture, high-output electric powertrains, and hands-free driving tech has laid a solid practical foundation for the marque's ongoing EV transition.
