The AION V series is GAC AION's strategic compact intelligent all-electric SUV. Since its debut in 2020, it has consistently positioned "rugged smart driving" and "family-oriented cabin comfort" as its core selling points. Serving as a crucial bridge between the AION S (sedan) and AION Y (entry-level family crossover) in the brand's line-up, the AION V has undergone several generational updates, evolving into a flagship global intelligent EV. Model Overview

The AION V range is currently spearheaded by the "second-generation AION V" (popularly nicknamed the "AION Tyrannosaurus"). In terms of dimensions, it measures approximately 4,605 mm in length, 1,854 mm in width, and 1,660 mm in height, with a generous 2,775 mm wheelbase. Anchored by its core identity as a "New Rugged Smart Driving SUV" and a "Global Classic Family Car", the key highlights of the series include:

Global-Ready Smart Driving: Standard across the entire range is a high-computing-power autonomous driving hardware platform supporting map-free global ADAS capabilities. Development History

Inception and Evolution (2020–2023): The original AION V marked the brand's first foray into the compact electric SUV segment. Its subsequent facelift, the AION V Plus, brought substantial upgrades in electric range, powertrain performance, and smart cockpit tech, solidifying its industry reputation as an established "smart family EV". 

Global Expansion (2024–Present): The debut of the second-generation AION V (Tyrannosaurus) in 2024 spearheaded the model's global push. Engineered to meet rigorous five-star crash safety benchmarks under both Euro NCAP and Australasia's ANCAP, it also effectively eliminates charging anxiety via a 400V + 3C fast-charging architecture compatible with 99% of public EV chargers worldwide.

Current Market Presence (2026): As of May 2026, the AION V series has established a solid presence across key international markets, including Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, and Australia. In April 2026, the AION V registered a staggering 179% year-on-year surge in global sales and clinched first place in the compact pure electric SUV segment in the J.D. Power 2026 China New Energy Vehicle Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (NEV-APEAL) Study.

Core Technology

Powertrain Architecture: The entire range features a front-mounted single electric motor, available in two outputs: 150 kW and 165 kW. CLTC range options span 520 km, 650 km, and up to 750 km, powered by the resilient Magazine Battery 2.0 pack that delivers an ideal balance of thermal safety and extended driving endurance.

Charging Infrastructure: Utilising a 400V + 3C fast-charging platform, the SUV can replenish up to 370 km of range in just 15 minutes when hooked up to compatible high-output DC fast chargers, drastically cutting down charging times. 

Connectivity & Safety: The cabin is powered by the ADiGO 5.0 intelligent infotainment system driven by large AI models, featuring four-zone voice command capabilities. Structurally built to achieve top-tier global five-star crash ratings, it comes equipped with class-leading 2.3-metre ultra-long side curtain airbags to guarantee all-round occupant protection.
